I agree they look good but the honeycomb design looks sweet, because it's not often seen. Similar to the cheese grater lights on later Fox Body Mustangs. LOVE those.

Nice day (Which is rare in Seattle) so I cleaned her up and took her for a photoshoot:

Looking for local autox events but they're all at least an hour away

Any universal database with road racing/autox schedules and locations?

No universal database, but the primary autocross events are held by WWSCC, Bremerton Sports Car Club, Northwest Region of SCCA and various car clubs (Porsche Club of America, BMW CCA, etc.). Unfortunately, all autocrosses are held at Bremerton, Shelton or Packwood, or you go up to Bellingham/Chuckanut area. If you take the ferry, Bremerton isn't too bad, but based purely just on driving, Shelton is probably the closest. It's unfortunately quite a trek, so I don't go much myself.

There are track days that happen at Pacific Raceways in Kent and at The Ridge in Shelton.

Nice, clean Firebird. I'm liking the red and black combo. 👍

Do you drive around Eastside much? I've heard rumors that police on the Eastside are starting to crack down on no front plates.

Yea, Bremerton Raceway looks like my best bet so far. Next event is on the 27th, looks like I'll be able to make it. Try to nab a gopro beforehand :D

Thanks! Yea I'm on the Eastside (Redmond), front plate is usually off, just put it on for pics. Thought of leaving it on and putting plate on dash, but that seems too ricey...

Aren't too many cops around here though, so I get away with a lot

I saw a Suburban like that the other day.

Yea it's quite common with the import crowd. Thing is I'm not even sure it's legal...

GTP has spoken. The honeycombs are good.

Hope to see some video if you make it to the track! Have you ever been?

I've tore down remote mountain roads but never to a sanctioned racing event. Going to be my first! Hopefully all my experience with the cones in GT license test will help me

Have fun. I'm shooting for the WWSCC May 18th autocross in Shelton.

Don't put the plate in the dash. Not only is it ghetto and technically not accepted as showing a front plate, but in case of an accident, it suddenly becomes a thin, blade like projectile.

And you probably don't want a blade-like projectile hurtling at you right at neck level.

Unfortunately, same can't be said of Bellevue. :(

Yea? I may just join you :sly:

What class you plan on running in?

 Never thought about that

Tell me about it. I go to Bellevue College and it's crawling with cops.

On a separate note, CETA mod: Complete :D

Last thing I wanna do to complete the black/red look is to get some tint. Personally I would go with 10% sides/5% rear and 35% on windshield, but state law limits me to just 25% sides and rear. I could just pull the trigger but I don't know if cops here are anal about stuff like this....

I personally wouldn't go any lower than 15%... even then that's probably noticeable to cops.
Do you mean tinting the whole windshield or the AV-1 line(or whatever)?

Plastidip looks really good 👍

I was thinking the whole windshield. Not only does it look good, but it helps prevent the dash from cracking in sunlight, a known issue with these cars. Trying to ask around and see how strict cops are in this area about tint.

Thanks! This stuff is great. Extremely easy to work with and results are fantastic.

I don't know, I've never looked out a fully tined windshield (probably because it's illegal, lol) but I've heard rumors saying it's a lot harder to see at night. Which, to me, doesn't make sense because tint reduces glare...the tint on my car is great though. Once you get it put on the sides and back window, the paint will absolutely pop... even moreso than the new rims.

I typically just run in Time Only. I don't autocross enough to be competitive and earn points, so I don't bother mucking around trying to figure out classes.

I think you can go really dark in the rear window and cops won't really bother you about it. If you're close to limit but right under it on sides, cops won't bother you too much. If your windshield is tinted, if you ever get pulled over, they will write you up for that as well. That, along with general night visibility, I don't recommend tinting the whole front windshield.

Keep in mind, tinted windows all around will definitely get you more police attention, even if they don't end up pulling you over.

Yea don't need to give the cops any more reason to pull me over

Cost-wise what am I looking at for the two sides and hatch? I'm assuming $100-$150...

The hatch on these cars are kind of tricky, most prices I got were between 200-250 from decent shops, I plan on doing the Windows myself and leaving the hatch to the pros.

I thought of trying to do it myself but read that applying tint is a very delicate process. I can't even put a cover on my iPhone without leaving some air bubbles so I'll let the pros handle this one

I know a bunch of less than skilled friends that have done it and it turned out fine. An entire roll of tint is only like 20 dollars so if you have some time it's worth the savings.

The cops around my area can be d-bags about tint if you catch them in a bad mood. My buddies Grand Prix had some extra tint on it applied by the previous owner (my friend actually didn't realize it, he thought it was stock) and the cop made him scrape it off on the side of the road :/

That turned out perfect. Amazing how much better that looks now.

After trying nearly everything to get rid of water spots from my windows, I tried a highly reviewed item off Amazon called Spot-X Hard Water Stain & Spot Remover with GREAT SUCCESS. Here are some before/after shots:

My windows literally look brand new. I'm shocked how effective this stuff is. I cleaned the windows with Sprayaway right before using Spot X and after using Spot X this is how much crud came off

Great little afternoon project for someone (took me about 3 hours) and can't beat the $15 price 👍

Damn, $400 for a GoPro?

Dang is that seriously how much they cost? I never looked into them yet but I don't need one that bad. I would hope they come with one heck of a warranty for that price. At one of my road track events someone had one of those and it flew off their car right in front of me. Almost hit my Camaro and I was doing almost 100mph between turn 11 / 12 at Grattan Raceway. I have a cockpit video from my car somewhere.

@Harry6784
I remember having that exactly same problem with both of my Firebirds. Those long slopped front and rear windows always gave me problems too. Especially if you are anywhere near pine trees. That sap was a pain. However, I found that rain-x works VERY well. I have been using Rain-x for about 20 years. Love the stuff. Nice to see the product you used also worked.

All it needs now is those wide ass tires and then it'll look "scary"
