High School

Anyone have a idea of what KEY club does? I was told by someone at the beach that it would be really good to have on my résumé. I don't really know what it is/does.

Anyone done it?

It does at first, then you start working full time and time flies by.

Once I get a job I'm sure that will be the case. I mean hell, just this summer alone is flying by. I really don't want my entire life to go by that fast...

You're still going to be learning on your own right? Education, formal or not, is the greatest enabler to wealth.

Of course. The field I'm in is very large and vast. I could learn a lot and still not be close to knowing everything. While it won't be formal education, I will be learning by doing things daily. That's how life goes.

Oh yeah, I was gonna post my schedule here,

Studio in Drawing and Painting
Physics
Study Hall/Gym
SAT Prep/Health (Even though I already took & passed the required one year of it so not going to it )
Pre-Calculus
Lunch
US History
Computer Applications
English
Band/Physics Lab

Hurry up and wait lol, the older you get the faster it goes by...

I want to post this to anyone and everyone thinking about dropping out.

As a teen I hung out with what people call "the wrong crowd" (I still hang with the same people today)
Anyways, as a high schooler, I really didnt pay attention to what the teachers were saying because I thought I new it all (I didnt know it all but I had learned enough, at such a young age).

So I decided to drop out and go to work. That was my worst 🤬 decision of my life. 16 years old, watching your friends have fun and stuff, while I was working full time(not fun memories).

So at the ripe age of 22, I finally met a woman(and had a kid) that motivated me to get out of sorry minimum wage jobs and do something for myself and her(they do that to ya)

So I finally decide to get my GED.
I got that with no problem...

Then I decided to go back to school and learn what I love CARS!!!

Anyways my point is if you think the work is to easy just do it it will make your life so much easier when you get older. Also you dont want to start making money at 30 by then your to busy, enjoy it while you can.....

Proof...

My GED

I made the Deans List (once:indiff: )

And finally The rest of my Certificates for Automotive Technologies. They got a Hybrid Class this year thinking of taking it to help my resume at Dealerships.

PS 3 Years!!....
Trust me youll be proud of them, when you receive them.

Final note: to those that are trying to get everything out of their education kudos.

Done with rant...

Good Luck and Good Racing

English classes are not pointless. It is extremely important to be able to communicate with others well, even if you're entering the sciences. You also have no idea how surprisingly illiterate a lot of people are. Being good at reading, writing and expressing yourself in English will be an important asset in your future.

Best of luck this year; I hope you're starting to think about colleges and think about and prepare for taking either the Pre-SAT or SATs. Oh, and also happy birthday.

The English classes are pretty close to pointless at my school. I haven't learned anything about English in a few years to be honest, about how to write a paper, about why literature is as important as were are told, about many little grammar nuances. So I agree they are important, but when they focus more on reading a play than how to actually properly write a paper (especially as I get closer to college), or don't get far in depth with grammar, or other things I can't think of, I would consider it a waste of time. Also, not to sound ignorant or like a typical teenager making excuses or anything, but I can speak English in a way that can be easily understood. If you aren't going to teach me something new that I need to know, don't stick me in the class.

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm worried about the SAT. I've got the GPA to be considered for some very good colleges (like the University of Michigan), but the SAT could ruin that. That's what's happening to my cousin. He's got very good grades but he hasn't done well on the SAT.

First day was today. My schedule is English 4, physics, public speaking, band, discrete math, then senior seminar. That is after I got it fixed as I only had 4 classes and we're required to have 6. Senior seminar is an elective that only seniors can take that helps us figure out what to do after graduation and how to prepare for college. Tomorrow, I'm going to ask if I can get senior seminar 3rd period to replace public speaking and find a new 6th period class.

Just recieved my class schedule in the mail today.
Turns out my friends and I have been completely separated - not a single class together. :grumpy:

Anyways, gonna go shopping at Kohl's (clothing store) with my cousins tomorrow. Gotta look pimp for my freshman year of high school. :sly:👍
..which starts September 2nd.

Brought my binders and stuff to school to put in my locker. Still need to iron my shirt and polish my shoes before the first day, though.
4 days before my senior year begins...

Yeah, same here. Even worse since I'm not in any of the same classes as the girl I have a crush on.

All you East Coast kids and your late starting schools; I've been in school for two weeks now. Classes are alright, I was in a Magazine Production class, but I opted out of it (despite not having one of their 'valid reasons'- I was so surprised) and got into Psychology, which despite being full of Juniors I don't know, is a pretty good class. Geometry is...meh, not too hard yet. No friends in that class. Then there's Spanish, which for whatever reason I didn't receive last year, which means I'm in a class populated mostly by Freshman. Eww. Biology is easy enough, the teacher's funny and there's a couple people I know, but still not very many. Because I switched to Psychology, it replaced my original History class for Period 2, and I got switched to a different teacher's History class for Period 6. This is great, because the original History teacher had this Chicago accent that I was already getting sick of after the first week. Couple people I know in this class too. English is good, and is notable for being the only class that I actually have a friend in. Amazing how one year you get a good schedule with a good amount of friends, and the next year it's almost devoid of them. Overall, school is a lot more work, way more than Freshman year.

I go back in two weeks :sly:

I'm in the south. I got a half day.
For A days I have Career research and development 2 and then 2nd period I have Entrepreneurship.
B days I have Physical training and 2nd period I have English 12.

Easy schedule for me.

Well first two days of my freshman year completed.... I hate my schedule and all my friends aren't in my classes and don't have the same luch as me, so High School isn't very enjoyable at the moment. Hoping Marching Band will make up for it..

So, turns out that I'm the only trumpet player in band that has more than one year of experience. That is really annoying, as I am not very good and have to help teach them. It's made worse by the fact that one of the new players has not played an instrument before. Also, my school set a new record for having a cop show up. We're only on day two.

My schedule came in today and it looks like I'm taking CADD. I have a few close friends that are in my classes but I have no idea who is in my Study Hall. It looks like I will be meeting new people even though I know half of my class already.

Went to my High School's Open House yesterday to pay my student fees and find my classes. They're decently close together, except for my Algebra-1 class, which is about a 5 minute walk from the class before it, and, if it's anything like my middle school, we're allowed hardly that much between classes. Hopefully it won't be the same case as it was last year and I end up getting marked Tardy as a result of it taking a while to get there.

Not a fan of rushing either, I've forgotten things many times because of it.

But in any case, I'm actually kinda glad school is starting back up. Been a while. :D

....although I'll just end up hating it again in about 2 weeks.

I'm driving to school tomorrow for the first time. My mom isn't too happy about it but its going to happen.

In the United States it's more common to commute to school by a car (or a motorcycle?) rather than walking or utilising public transports the school being too remote from your dwelling oftentimes, pricey amount of fare and whatever. (especially by comparison with my country :()

I disagree. I think that depends on where you live though. Most of the kids at the local schools here ride by school bus.

First 2 weeks of school have gone by and my classes are either super easy, super boring, or both. I also made the varsity soccer team and we lost our first 3 games, 2 of which were ranked 2nd and 5th in the state.
