High School

School was Alright. Longest first day of school ever because were get the same spiel from every teacher that we get every other year. Everyone has the same rules. No late work. No phones during lecture. Try. Do your homework. Like I needed to hear that 6 more times.

Ugh. Today was an absolute killer.

First and most importantly, my feet are absolutely killing me after gym class. Them being swollen for the past few days didn't help either.

Second, I have a ton of homework, most of which is due tomorrow. They decide it would be a brilliant idea to give you mountains of it instead of hills.

Tomorrow will be a nightmare. Glad I won't have to deal with this stuff on Thursday. :(

Our school had a decent music program up until a few years ago when the teacher died of a heart attack. It hasn't been te same since. I wish it would have been better because then I probably would have taken it.

Even though most schools are starting today I've been back for a week already. Not much homework (thank goodness for being a senior :sly: ). Our school's athletic director had a stroke over the weekend which had everyone bummed out as he was a cool guy. Finally, cross country keeps getting harder and harder.

Same here. Was pretty boring, but tomarrow should be 10x better for me.:)

I saw someone in this thread alluding the starting date of schools differs depending on the area of residence of students - somewhere being days or a week earlier while the other being later by a week or two.

Some schools change depending on the area of residence. My school just sort of does what it wants because it's a private school...

Well that's right. Private schools can fix up their curriculum at their discretion for not being bound by the decisions of dependent local / state public institutions or the government.

Wow school in the US sounds much better than school in the UK, we have never had swimming club or got Laptops. :(

Not all schools get laptops. Students getting laptops is just starting to happen in the wealthy school districts.

Public elementary through high schools (that's primary and secondary education for you non-US folks) are generally regulated at the state level, with decisions regarding some of the finer details delegated to the local school district (typically encompassing a city/town/small area), hence why you'll find varying public school start dates.

Funny how my school gives teachers $2000 Mac laptops but teachers complain about our school being dirty and broken down. I WONDER WHY?

Did it ever cross your mind that your school could have received a grant from another company or something? That "grant" could have been the MacBooks. That's the case for my school.

Could be that. All I know is teachers get like a %10 discount on any apple products. But the school pays for the laptop. But if the teacher looses or breaks the lap, they have to pay for it.

How many teachers actually used/installed them? Lol

The entire school uses it!!! I could add something to this post, but I won't since I don't feel like getting an infraction.

I've decided this will be the best school year of my life. I'm in classes that set me up for success without bringing me intense stress. I absolutely love 3 of my classes thus far, which would be German 2, Psychology, and Physics. Though we haven't done much in those yet, I already know what to expect from German as I've already taken a year of it. The German teacher is pretty much the coolest teacher ever. In psychology we've already had very deep and emotional class conversation, which I find to be awesome. And in physics the teacher allowed us to just ask random questions about the physics behind the things we see in the world. Pretty awesome.

Tomorrow is the second day off in a single week.

I'm still nervous about Friday as I have physical-education and my ankle hasn't improved at all, and I have much trouble breathing (I likely have asthma). I haven't gone to the doctor as my mom can't be bothered to make an appointment at short notice. That's not all - this is only training for the school's (mandatory) triathlon. TRIATHLON.

They want me to ride a bike, which I can't do for the life of me, I can only swim for so long before getting extremely tired and worn out, and I cannot run the whole track without losing my breath. The stuff they expect me to do...

Today was an okay first day. It was nice to meet some of my teachers but I know there will be a few teachers that will "grind my gears" because they are teachers (They act in a certain way. I can't really explain it). I got an actual homework assignment instead of the normal "Have your parents sign these. This will be your first homework assignment". I also have a project due next week.

This is year is going to be annoying because of the stupid school rules. For example, always needing a pen to fill out your hall passes. A teacher is located at every bathroom so you can sign in/out. You can only have 1 ear bud in. No headphones at all (I still will use mine but I will put it away when I get to my locker). Too cap off the first day my school has new slogans like "Believe in yourself" and "Be Creative".

I feel confident coming into the school year. I guess it has something to do with me being a junior.

I just found out that my school(s) is the largest buyer/seller of coke, out of any establishment, in the entire state of michigan
I'm suprised that we aren't all fat :P
