High School

My school has Drivers Ed as a summer course, and the one summer I'd be eligable, I took a vacation during it, so I couldn't.

Driver's Ed class... ha... ha ha... ha... I didn't have one Driver's Ed class in school. I had to take a class on a Saturday in a separate Driver's Ed school and do two days of driving with an instructor. Boom, certificate.

Well... Today was our first day of Band Camp, and I came as a fish in a dress...

...You could say it was a success...

Our school called at 4, 6 and 8 AM letting us know that...

Well guys, tomorrow is my first day of tenth grade. I'm actually not worried or stressed or anything. Go back a year ago, and you'd have the complete opposite. But tonight, I'm feeling good. The only thing I'm not too keen on is that its the last day of summer. But I'll be okay. :)

My senior year starts on the 4th. Hopefully, I'll remember to not be a complete idiot and actually do my work this time. I barely passed English class last year, and that used to be one of my best subjects. This year I've got a creative writing class with the same teacher. The big problem is I'm not creative and I suck at writing. I sure hope I won't have to write anything about myself because that is probably the most difficult thing for me to write about. Back to English, I've got it first semester. During the summer, everyone was required to read at least two books and write some stuff about it. I only started my first book a few weeks ago and still kept putting it off. I'm half way through it and haven't done anything I was required to. This assignment is due the first week, so, a two day week. Cool. Off to a great start, Dan! :banghead: Anyway, I know I've got good teachers, so I hope this year will be better.

On a side note, I know I still have a year left and stuff, but I'm really not ready to be an adult, just yet.

I hope you have a good year, Dan.

I'm turning 18 next month. Not sure how I feel.

You can do it Danny boy.

Update for my school: English 3 hasn't started off so great, already reading a boring book that I have to force myself to stay awake reading. Plus, I have to carry a THICK ASS book (I mean really thick- the height is 2 and 1/4"s. That's pretty heavy to carry). I'm not too fond of the everyday homework for Algebra 3 (@Danoff it is a reminder of Algebra 1 and 2, but kicked up a notch and is before I do Pre-Cal), but whatever. Art 2 is my favorite period because I can draw and listen to music while doing so. It also makes time go by faster. Public speaking/Seminar is starting to... be okay, but I'm not use to the notes my teacher is having us do. We had some small discussion regarding video games (that irks me, but a few made a good point regarding little kids getting their hands on it) and population as a starter. I may like Seminar's discussions, but I'm hating the writing/notes.
Thank you. I take comfort knowing that I'm not the only one uncomfortable with the sudden transition to adulthood.
I know the feel. I'm 2 years before hitting 18 and I'm certainly am not ready for adulthood.

School starts for me today and I'm more nervous as hell than anything else. I don't know anyone there and hopefully I just know where to get around today :nervous:

Lemme tell ya - from my standpoint, middle school was my worst time in my academic career, and high school completely turned that around. The social environment completely flips. So for any worried new upcoming freshmen out there - don't worry, it really ain't bad at all.

There will always be a few upperclassmen that get easily frustrated by the newcomers, but they aren't as scary as you'd think.

The "upperclassmen" are separated from us, so I don't have that problem. We have two buildings, one is the 9th grade center, the other is the main building with all other grade levels. When we need to go to the main building we walk across the street, enter the main building, and then proceed to class. When we need to return to the 9th grade center, we walk back across the street, enter the building, etc., etc.

Yeah, I know not all high schools are set up the same way (especially outside of the U.S.), but a significant portion of American high schools are set up all-inclusive 9th-12th graders, SOOO...

A tip to incoming freshmen so you won't annoy upperclassmen: Do not act all high and mighty because you aren't. Also, don't stop and stand around in the hallway. Keep walking, especially at a quick pace.
#PREACH. Freshman are fresh meat. Don't try and act like a big dog because you were the big dog in middle school. You'd get shut down QUICK.
