High School

Here a 90-100 is an A, 80-89 is a B, 70-79 is a C, 60-69 is a D, and anything less is an F, for fantastic. It seems pretty simple to me, maybe because I'm an American.

It's different in Canada, but I don't know what everything is. A starts at 86%, rather than at 90. That's all I know. Also, can't believe I'm going back in a month. Off to Grade 9. High school started at 8 for me. Considering how easy 8 was, I wonder how 9 will be. I ended up getting consistently getting over 80 percent in multiple subject, including a 94 in English one term. I can't imagine what Grade 12 will be like, and the end of that.

English system seems fairly simple, in state schools at least.
Primary School: 4-11
Secondary School: 11-16
6th Form/College/Other higher education: 16-18

Why is it called 6th Form? Like what is the point of the name? I didnt live at home long enough to even care, but now I'm curious.

In Ireland it's like this:

A: 86 %or higher
B: 70%-85%
C: 56%-69%
D*: 40%-55%
E: 25%-39%
F: 10%-24%
NG**: 0%-9%

*You must get a D or better to pass.
**NG means No Grade.

I'm guessing because it's the 6th year of your secondary education, but then there is upper and lower 6th too at least in my school, which is to distinguish between AS and A2 students. That would make sense.

Sounds a lot like how it is in Canada, though probably not exact, and we go straight from D to F, F going all the way to zero. Close though.

Since I'm going into my Junior year now I have a Drivers license (got it sophmore year but still) and need to drive to school because the bus utterly sucks and I go to Vo-tech. It is a lottery system and since I have near perfect attendance I feel like it should be a first come first serve basis and based on how good your attendance is. Not happy with my school but then again I have always hated it to no end.

Ireland is as simple as it gets..
Start primary school at 4 until your 12.
Start secondary school at 13 until 18.

You could start at 5 years old. Or not do TY.

TY- Or Transition Year, is the 4th year of secondary school, you start at either 15 or 16, the year after the Junior Cert(exam which has absolutely no effect on anything) and the first year of being a senior. You don't do much for the year(Yay :D) and you try out different subjects for 5th year and the Leaving Cert.

In my(and Matty's) school it was compulsary, some schools don't have it at all, and some schools have it optional. Also the year that I've just done.

I posted factual information, oh my god....

^ Ahh, right. Thanks. 👍

In the states, we go like this.

Pre-school (Not required)
Kindergarten - 5th (Considered Elementary School)
6th-8th (Considered Middle School)
9th-12th (Considered High School)

9th=Freshman
10th=Sophomore
11th=Junior
12th=Senior

Kindergarten - 5th (Considered Elementary School)
6th-8th (Considered Middle School)
9th-12th (Considered High School)

These vary from school to school, however, for example, My school is K-6 in Elementary and 7-12 in high school.

My school starts in 7 days :nervous:

We start the 23rd. I'm not taking any AP classes.

My county's schools start on the 21st.

Initially, I was setup for an Arts high school before I was informed that I'm able to attend an IB high school. Whilst that time, I didn't know which high school I truly want to attend because the first time I tried for IB, I couldn't get an offer. But in the end, I chanced it and took IB. I still have regrets of my decision, but IB was the first high school I took interest in. The work will probably be killer (in a bad way), though lol.

My school starts on the 15th so I'm desperately finishing my summer reading :lol:

I'm actually not that nervous for 10th grade, 11th may be the one, because of SATs, ACT's, etc.

I took the PSAT in 7th grade in a program called Duke TIP, but I don't think that will make a relevant difference. My parents got me a Kaplan SAT review, and I've been doing problems on it ever since February of 2012. Hope that will help.

I've just started high school, and so far, I think it's just fine. One question though; do your guys' schools have a ridiculous wait to leave the school? The parking lot at my school has one exit, which for whatever reason, has cones obstructing one lane, forcing all the cars to leave the parking lot one by one. Took 20 minutes to leave the parking lot today. :scared:

^ Mine does if I take the bus. Since there is a busy intersection just around the corner where you leave, the kids driving out of the parking lot and the buses just block the street and it takes about 10 minutes to actually get on the road.

Well, my school started today with mostly just basic information given to us about the schoolyear, nothing really specific just now. I'm on the 3rd grade now (mind you, it's actually 12th when counting all of my school years so far, but that's how it goes around here) and I'm only going to be studying here for a partial year, after Valentine's Day us 3rd graders don't have to return for anything except the exams. I'm a bit distressed by them because even though I know I'm going to study a lot harder for them than any regular tests we've had so far, they just feel like such big things that I've never handled before. Hoping for no mental collapse this year.

Oh and now I'm paying the price for not taking enough courses the last two years, as I have a ridiculous amount of them to pass in order to graduate this spring. :guilty:

We have like 4 exits, but the truck driving douchebags just drive over the curb through the grass.

My school has the worst parking/driving set up ever.
"How about that empty space on the hill here?"
"Yeah, we could squeeze a parking lot in there"

It takes literally 45 minutes to leave school.
