Hey guys, have discovered the awesome effect of the vibrating baby seat. Madmike, take note, it will enable you and your significant other to sit and eat a meal together (admittedly one of your feet will be making the seat 'bob' up and down).

Still, it beats staggered mealtimes and our little one seems enamored with it 👍

What a bunch of cuties. India looks too sweet.

Little Famine too. Really lovely. And indeed a lot of hair.

My little girls have only very little hear. Both were born bold. Eventually it grows:

A vibrating baby seat? Is that it's specific name? got any links? could be a handy I guess...Thanks for the advice!

MarcoM, can't see the picture....

We have a vibrating "bounce seat" that works well for babies up to about 12-15 pounds. Soothes them quite well.

The other amazing product is the automatic swinging seat. It's rocked two little babies of ours to sleep when they get cranky. Just add batteries, and it works like a charm.

Looking back, I don't know how my parents achieved anything remotely productive without that last item, unless I was that relaxed a sleeper.

Thanks Pupik, you have just sold an auto swinging seat :) I will be picking one up at the weekend.

Had a really restless night with little bambino, took forever to get her settled. By 2am she was finally asleep which meant dad could get some rest before having to get up for work. Dad is knackered today.

Indy's Mum got 12 hours sleep.

Totally agree! It's a must! A Fisher Price swinging chair, music included, works also great when you want to take a little nap after a hard night. But it can't change diaper yet.

OK, I reworked the security settings in Picasa. Is it now visible?

MarcoM, yes can see it now 👍

Ah the fabled sleepless nights! I'm kind of dreading them as my job is very physical and tiring, without sleep it is going to distroy me

How bad has the whole sleep thing been in general though?

Fortunately, newborn babies usually sleep for 15-18 hours, but they eat every 2-3 hours, so you get small chunks of rest. At first, you mostly sleep when baby sleeps. Then, as it matures, it might go a little longer without eating, but it took roughly 4-5 months until they slept for a good 7 hours straight during the night.

Basically, you have to let your little one cry it out when doctor's orders say so, usually 3-6 months; of course, that means less rest for you for about a week during this adjustment period. Our daughter literally slept through the night on her first attempt, but my son took about a week of crying for about 30-40 minutes at 2:00 am or so.

Not fun.

Do'h! Ah well, I will enjoy all the sleep I can untill baby is here 👍

Funnily enough, I have been staying up later at night now in a vain attempt at conditioning myself to less sleep

I wish our newborn slept 15 to 18 hours, she just loves being awake, looking around and causing trouble! :)

I bet you don't mind though right?

I'm finding I just want my little girl to be here now, i'm ready, the rooms ready and I think my life is ready, I feel like something is missing from my life and i'm willing to bet anything it's my little girl :D

I like that she's awake a lot, feels like she's interested in what's going on around her. There is a time at night (somewhere between 1am and 3am), where you know work is looming and she just won't settle, and you have been up a loooong time, perhaps for multiple nights that it becomes the biggest game of patience you will ever play. Teamwork with your other half is the most important thing ever. I honestly can't imagine how single parents do it.

I have no shame in saying that my little girl has broken me on one occassion, lucky for me that her mum came to save the day. We are talking points of extreme mental exhaustion.

EDIT: Should probably point out that dad wasn't rage-broken, more tears before bedtime broken :)

I must be lucky that my 4 months old daughter sleeps from 10pm to 8am almost every day. She don't sleep a lot at daytime but that's very fine with me as long as she lets us sleep at night!

You can call me a big fat liar then.

Fact is, I do not lie.

I must say my wife and I make it top one priority to give our kids rest. When they were born 18 hours sleep per day was quite normal. Now they sleep from 7 till 7 average. And an hour and a halve sleep in the afternoon.

We'd get 18 hours on occasion, but its still waking up every 2-3 hours, change and eat for 30 minutes, and usually right back to sleep. Then ours gradually sleep less and less hours as time goes by.

That's not to say there weren't occassions where one or the other wasn't cranky and tough to get back to sleep.

Hey Pupik, I went home yesterday and my other half had already picked up a Mamas and Papas swinging seat :) Maybe she lurks here at GTP to see what I'm up to!

I can confirm that they do the business.

Hey Madmike, hows your other half getting on? Has the endless eating begun yet? :)

She is doing well, feeling the baby kick alot which I know is making her happy as she is reassured the baby is healthy and I guess it is a nice bonding experience for her....

As for the eating, she is currently working her way through a bag of raw carrot batons...

Her eating hasn't been bad at all, she eats the same as she did before so I guess her diet is pretty good 👍

How is little India?
