Good Morning Guys,

Sorry I'm a bit late with this but little bump was born at 5:33am on the 27th :D
She weighed 6 12 and it was simply the most incredible experience of my life to date. Water births are the way forward.

Congrats mate, well done for you and your missus. Hope little India is fat and well.

Apologies for the double post, but I figured it would be less cluttered than adding it to my other post
Week 19!

http://www.pregnancyguideonline.com/wk19.htm

So, this week my young child is covered in fine hair and a greasy/cheesy substance....hardly sounds appealing but is all essential!

The 3 of us had a busy, and chuffing expensive week!
We spent the weekend down in Farnborough (surrey) with the wife's family which was enjoyable, I had alot of hands on time with my 6month old nephew, plenty of nappy changing, bathing, changing ect which was good practice (Mrs Mad got stuck in too)
Mrs Mad is showing quite alot now so had to endure plenty of belly rubbing/patting

As for the spending, after fuel, booze, food, buying my nephew toys ect....
Definately need to watch those pennys now!

My thoughts this week:

Still mostly impatience, I NEED to know the sex of my child and that all is ok, I have a long list of things to buy and most of these are sex affected, things like clothes ect.
also the nursary is on hold untill we know, when I do I can very quickly get it all ready for my little one.
Had alot of bad news this week, the family cat died, my brother lost his job, my sisters car got smashed up, and it seems my Anxiety problem is rearing its ugly head again.
For example, Mrs Mad was late home from work and I was massively panicking something had happened to her, to the point of out right panicking, when she finally come home safe and sound I calmed slightly, but the other problem was she had 2 NHS letters waiting for her (I never open my wifes mail) and I knew one of them was test results....the worrying wait for her to open them was horrendous. But all is ok at least.

I feel the excitement from The Spuns recent addition, I look greatly forward to that excitement actually being my own

Is that the partial deafness that occurs between 11:00pm and 7:00am? :dopey:

Don't worry, babies are surprisingly simple (but demanding) things, especially at the beginning. You won't have a problem, we all worry too much sometimes.

Lol Partly yeah! :dopey:

Nah, I have damaged/dead nerve endings in my Right ear from birth, I can hear only very little from it, but it's effectively useless :grumpy: although it does have its advantages......:sly:

I can handle simple!

I am completely deaf in my left ear due to a rare genetic defect :D And yes it does have its advantages. Like i sleep on my good ear so i always have a good nights sleep ;)

And congrats to spun 👍 If your playing skyrim with her then im sure the gentle music will make her nod right off

Well at the moment, I'm doing the night shifts so my better half can recover and even though there is no sleep coming my way I feel strangely euphoric most of the time (if not a little sickly - which can be cured by eating plenty).

Things are a hive of activity with family members dropping by or calling to see the little one. My missus and I have had to talk to her mum though as she was getting a bit too in-our-faces. Calling at 7am and 10pm are NOT appreciated at the moment. Didn't think we would have to tell anybody to step back a little but she seems to have done so far.

Above all, it's awesome being a dad. Feeding is going well and she now keeps her eyes open for small periods of time.

Oh, and her umbilical cord finally fell off today! Looks like she's going to have an 'innie' :D

EDIT: There is no need for the sheer quantity of nappies she gets through!

Thanks for the update mate 👍

Everyone says about the lack of sleep....looks like it's true

I'm suprised the MIL got abit to forward, is it her first grand child? And well done for setting her straight!

As for the nappies....well i'm learning parenthood is a rather expensive affair, I mean £35 for a baby blanket?!!

Still, i'm certain it's worth it and dead excited about it.

So, any chance of a pic of your girl? (I'm not a perv for the record  )

Quite possible! :scared:

I'm guessing Spun has his hands full at the moment

Was it weird to ask for a picture? Most people on here post a pic of there new borns so I assumed it was the norm?

I'm paranoid I come across as a weirdo now :scared:

Only 5 days untill the 20 week scan!!!!

Can't wait to find out what it is, secretly hoping for a boy :sly:

Hey MadMike, chill bro!

Pic is on it's way, just a little pre-occupied trying not to crack under my new no-sleep lifestyle :)

Sounds brutal! :scared:

Week 20

http://www.pregnancyguideonline.com/wk20.htm

Well people we are officially at the halfway point!
My goodness it has gone fast, it seems only yesterday that the bombshell was dropped!

This Thursday is the 20 Week scan day, we will be finding out the sex and i'm very, very excited to know what my child will be! *Hopefully boy :sly:

I spent last weekend putting together all the baby furniture together, took me 4 hours to assemble it all (Wardrobe, drawers, crib, bedside table, futon) it was a nightmare being cheap, chinese stuff. The holes didn't line up and half the screws were missing :dunce: But I finally got it done and now the spare room is half resembling a Nursery, which is quite surreal to look at, everytime I walk in there it feels like a new dimension

We are currently waiting for a cheque from the insurance company after our car was totalled, this has been a hassle from start to finish, but on the plus side, the money we are receiving is £500 more than what we paid for car 👍

The question is, what car to get? I know it should be 5 doors and family friendly, cheap to run and big enough to shove my bike in, the shortlist seems thus:

Citroen picasso
Vauxhall Zafira
Renault scenic

Ideas??

Anyway, my thoughts this week:

A rather irritating mix of excitement and fear, I'm thrilled by the thought of knowing what sex my child is, and also that everything is ok and he/she is healthy.....on the flipside, that is exactly what is stressing me out.

Please be healthy child!!!!

WTF? Don't get a people carrier!1111!!! Kids are tiny and fit in any normal size car, in fact when they're new they'll fit in the glove box (joke). Seriously dude, just get any car you like that has rear doors although from experience hatch or estate boot is much easier than saloon for getting prams (and bikes) in.

Also all babies are awesome and will adore their daddies regardless of what they wee on you with so don't get too hung up about what flavour it will be ;)

I hear you Neal....I don't want one but I only have £900 to get a car with and these people carriers seem to offer the best mile per £.

I need something big enough to fit my bike and all the baby gear into, was looking at mondeos and vectras too.

It needs to be cheap to run as we plan to save up through 2012 and buy a decent 3 year old car

Why don't you get something like a Citreon C4 on finance? My brother has one of them and it has done him brilliantly and lets face it. It isn't a bus. Remember: first car, second car, better third car, slightly more sporty option, midlife crisis car, people carrier, honda jazz, dead.

No offence to people carrier owners and honda jazz owners

By the time you're old enough for a midlife crisis car you can afford that and a people carrier, believe me. ;)

I would have thought that for £900 a picasso was the best option, although something smaller could work up until your kid is older or you have, dare I say it, more than one! Then you'll appreciate a people carrier. Imagine never having to worry how you're going to get the family and the luggage in when you go on holiday. No, just chuck it all in and go!

Presumably death coming after owning a Jazz is down to suicide... :sly:

Unless you're getting something the size of an Espace the boot of most people carriers is usually too small to fit everyone's bags in. Mondeo sized estates have pretty big boots but even we struggle to fit all our gear in the Avensis estate and there's only four of us! I've been eyeing up VW Transporter Caravelle van thingies, they're big enough to fit a catholic family in plus all their luggage and a bike each. Also they look the DB's in black with a decent set of alloys ;) /chav

You don't want a Caranvelle van you want one of these...

Otherwise known as HMS Turner - the Chrysler Grand Voyager. We use ours for shopping, ramming people off the road and invading Eastern Europe. :D

Don't buy anything French, it'll either break down or spontaneously combust. Speak to Famine about our car, it's an R reg BMW 523i touring and cost a smidge over 1k eighteen months ago. Otherwise, a Mondeo estate if you really must get something generic ;)

Thanks for all the input people 👍

If I had it my way I would have a WRX STI Scooby wagon....but sadly that goes against the idea :grumpy:

The idea is to have a dirt cheap, crappy old car for 1 year while we save up for a decent motor. It needs a smallish engine and needs to be cheap to insure (Like mondeo diesels ect) the other issue being my wife costing a bomb on the insurance

The other point is when our kid is here we will be going out for trips with the family (My wife's sister, her husband, and kid) we will need a big car as they have a small peugeot 207 thingy with a teeny wheeny boot/trunk.

I did however see a Renault laguna estate, looked pretty modern and tidy. Might be worth a dabble....

Yeah, that'll do the trick. Basically I want something that looks a bit cool to pull a mountain bike out the back of rather than a device that only serves the purpose of ferrying the products of a careless rhythm method.

Ok people here it is!

The big 20 week scan!!

Firstly, everything is A ok! No abnormalities, defects ect :D

I say very detailed parts of my baby, I saw the spine, heart, brain, ribs, hands, feet and the genitals............

It's a girl!! :D

And here she is:

Gorgeous huh? :sly:

You can see her nose, eyes, lips, hands, ear, fingers, the works! The picture is a close up of her face and she was sucking her thumb = Cute!

Soooo, my thoughts this week are probably pretty obvious I guess?

Sheer, utter, complete joy and jubilation!

The only problem I can forsee is being out numbered....stereo nagging anyone? just kidding, happy times!

Congratulations! :cheers:Not the boy you wanted, but I guess you don't really care. Dunno how you can tell a those things from that scan, it just looks like a blob(no offence).
