Low displacement in general. But you don't need a ton of torque when the car only weighs 2500 pounds. Hence the high rpm, high power engine...

Anyway, do any of you know anything about the Buddy Club cat-back? And do you think I should get the header and testpipe first or the cat-back first? Believe me, I'll have trouble saving to get all three at the same time.

What model Buddy Club? There's more than one.

see now i have a F22b which is SOHC and i have no-cat,no resonator, and a cherry bomb muffler and i don't have a single problem with torque. i haven't a problem up hills either

First off, test pipes aren't worth it. For starters, they aren't even legal in almost all states (or provinces here in Canada) and if you ever have to take your car for an emissions test, it will fail before its even on the hoist.

Second, the amount of hp you'll gain from them isn't worth the hundred/hundreds of dollars you will pay for them, and if you are worried about noise, then test pipes aren't the way to go. A high flow cat will do just about the same as a test pipe while still keeping your car legal in all states.

I'd go with a header + cat back system, and in the future, when you have more money, throw on a high flow cat to complete the exhaust.

Edit:

Cherry bomb muffler? You mean a red hot dog looking thing that makes your car sound like a 2 stroke?! A guy in highschool had one on his Jeep YJ and was the gayest thing ever to drive into our school parking lot.

yea. and it doesn't sound all that bad. kinda louds ecpesially in the high rpms and on the highway the resonance gives you a head ache but it's fast and fun

I've got plenty of torque, and I own a Honda.

He's got a low displacement, unmodified (for the most part), SOHC Honda. That's why he's lacking torque.
I should have been more clear when I said Honda, sorry about that.

Test pipes are actually very cheap, about 80 bucks or so since all it is is a peice of pipe, but good luck with emmisions.

Test pipes for my car are almost $400 US, so I thought for a Honda it would be around half that, my mistake. Still not worth the money though in my opinion, especially when you factor in all the other problems associated (ie. noise, emission laws, etc).

ok here is a pic just to prove that my car is still in one piece. see if any of you can spot something that isn't normal on my car ;)

also while Im at it, I might as well announce that the car pictured above is now for sale. Its time to move on now. . .

When did you get the thing lowered? I'll bet you like the new alignment. 👍

What are you planning on moving on to? Why would you lower it and then sell it right away?

EDIT: The Buddy Club system I'm considering is the Pro Spec. It's the only on of their four systems available for the Sol. Damn my short wheelbase! I'll take a guess that the Sol is the only EG with the short wheelbase. I'm not sure how long it is. But I know it's a good 6 or 8 inches shorter than a Hatch.

You painted your mirrors black, or are have they actually been replaced?

Whats the idea behind selling it? What do ya have in mind as its replacement?

@Keef - Thats not a bad system from what I've heard on an EK hatch (atleast I think its the same system, don't quote me). Any sound clips or video's available to hear what it sounds like?

yea I guess it was a little too easy to spot that. Its ok though guys, its just in the garage in pieces as I have to replace the bulb in it, dunno where you got that mirror idea from jay. At the moment its is for sale at $5000AU just seeing if I get any bites at the moment. Then the money will be likely to go towards a bike and another car for me and the misses (something more practical eg 4 doors, towing capabilities etc, I suggested a 4 door R32 skyline, didnt go down to well lol).

I follow a 4dr r32 to work everyday, its slow as **** but damn it looks goooood. Your car looks good in that pic, too bad you have to move on. I know you want something FR and a towing capacity? There goes every Honda i can think of.

My eyes must be worse then I thought cause to me it looks like your side mirrors are red in your avatar and black in your picture. Although, I did find out a couple months ago that I am legally blind in one eye, so that would explain everything.

FR Honda with towing capacity?! Ridgeline, or if your only going to be towing around little red wagons with 5 lbs of weight the S2000 will do the trick!

Since your in the air force now, i'd suggest a Suburban! All black, with matte black rims and limo tint on all the windows, and just cause you can, a 50 cal. machine gun bolted to the roof! HOO-RA! 👍

Man, I'm just loaded with questions. After reading on KTeller that AEBS's B-series intake manifold is worth about 20 hp I'm now more interested in intake manifolds than exhausts. Do you guys think that claim is true? I'm not so sure, because that's a lot of power.

I'm almost certain it would require a larger diameter throttle body to see all 20hp. The stock one would limit flow, in such a manner, that you would see the power very infrequently.

A better exhaust is also probably a good idea so all that extra air has somewhere to go after it's used.

EDIT: I think that combo of an intake manifold and a nice header/exhaust would work together nicely for a good sized power boost.

Are you talking about the one with short runners and the large plenum? Those are only good for top end you'd loose power in the lower rev range.

SKunk2's plenum also has long runners, but it's much more expensive.

EDIT: Here's a vid of a Comptech exhaust and Buddy Club Pro Spec on a DC5. The buddy Club is much louder.

The Skunk2's plenum is like the Ron Jeremy of the intake world though. Even with the VQ35DE, it has the largest plenum spacer on the market. Bigger isn't always better though, as the larger the plenum the higher up the rev range your peak hp moves.

If you choose to go that route, make sure to read over the provided dyno graphs (if they show them, which they should) and see what ones create the most hp where you normally keep your engine while running it hard, but at the same time don't cut out too much power in the rev area where you do your everyday driving.

Speaking of Ron Jeremy, SRV, did you know Peter North started his career in gay porn?

Weird.

Did I ever! I have all his movies, they're great for an evening alone or with friends!

I mean...err...no...no I didn't. That is weird. :odd:

hot damn, all those crx's are ugly. He has also painted the window white, goodbye visibility. There is so many reasons why most people would not like that car. Being ugly is probably the biggest reason lol.

SRV: Im pretty sure mclaren mans avatar isnt his car. Im pretty sure i have the pic in his avatar.. Its a hot lude... And here i even found the original pic because im awesome like that:

We dont get the ridgeline, or the suburban.
