I also get this in my Camaro--but easily not nearly as much as when I had my 200SX SE-R, 3000GT VR4, and this Prelude.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are that obviously no one really bothers to waste as much of their time on a lowly camaro... and that saying something along the lines of go F yourself makes you look like a prick.

You don't know how many times I'm sitting a light waiting for it to turn green and just as it does I hear tires screeching and the dumby beside me peeling out and taking off like we're racing for slips. I've seen it all from duelly pick-ups to station wagons, but I just continue on the same way I was, minding my own business. Half the time I already know I'm faster, so whats there to prove? Other times I just know its not worth it, and I'd rather keep my record clean (finally after 3 years) as the low insurance rates beats any street race win any day. 👍

Its an epidemic around here, I had in the past "taken care of" some of those people by flying right past them. But now, I just want to be left alone. Its not worth it risking getting your car impounded and getting a fat ticket and or jailtime.

I give no attention to other drivers, when driving, except to make sure I'm not cutting them off or performing illegal traffic motions. If you're looking at their cars, you're giving them attention. Just ignore their cars completely, and you'll see a huge decrease in the common teenage street racing hard-on's, that are out there.

Most of the time I don't pay any attention, as in literally I keep looking forward. That doesn't deter them. I've even been cussed at and cut off for not racing these idiots.

My assumption: twit + teen = tween.

I meant it as, 20-22 yearolds.

So you wanted to take your time and insult my Camaro? Are you that prejudice against American cars? And, I did say it happends in my Camaro--just not as much as my Japanese cars I have/had owned. And, by your logic if someone harrasses you repeatedly and you respond to them with a single statement that apparently makes you--the victim--a prick? That is some twisted logic you have there. I'm going to wadger that you are one of these young people who does these redlight to redlight harrassments by your almost defense of them. If you aren't, you sure came off that way.

Yes I wanted to insult your camaro. I hate people that make fun of japanese cars because their domestic is so great yet it never runs so they drive an import. You just assume that everyone that takes imports serious is a looser and thats not cool.

If you don't like people messing with you why can't you just turn them down... A simple "no thanks" is always enough for me when I get revved at. I don't know what you go threw but being revved at is hardly enough to act as if you have a personal vendetta againt the world.

and a tween is an 11-12 year old.

My last word of advice... assuming makes an ass out of you and me.

People cuss you out for not racing them. :indiff: What is this world coming to? Sorry for the idiots you have to deal with. :(

20-22 year olds, ah, that makes sense. I guess I can understand, seeing as plenty of those miscreants love to try and rile my skin. I do have to say, though, that I've not had the same desire to be wreckless on the road in the recent past (aka. when I was 20-22).

I own and have owned both import and US domestic vehicles, so what the hell is your beef with me. Don't take your hatred out on me, when you CLEARLY do not know me. Oh, and here's a complimentary news flash, my Camaro will out last my Prelude--its already got twice the mileage and shows no signs of stopping. If I have to compare my Prelude to my Camaro in mechanical shape to you in this thread my Prelude will lose that arguement. So don't go off ASSUMING all US domestic vehicles will never last as long as a Japanese domestic vehicle. Every type of vehicle from every manufacturer will last a long time if the owner(s) drives them with care.

Oh yea, let me lean out my window and say, "golly gee mr street racer could you pweese stop trying to race me". Yea, that will go over real well. Revving an engine is one thing, revving then either tailgating me, yelling/cussing at me, or cutting me off is another. THAT is what I'm talking about when I say harrassment.

Thanks for the info, allow me to correct my original post.

Read your own quote before even thinking about applying it to me.

The world is apparently going straight to the depths of the sewer.

You've been fortunate I'd say. :sly:

I hardly ever get messed with in my area. There's not that many tuner guys to begin with, but I rarely come across any street race drama like that. I do play around every now and then, but most of time I'd rather just mind my own business and get where I'm going without a fuss.

But traffic drives me nuts. Makes me feel like I'm losing a race. Thus, the go-kart I'm taking to the track to practice with next weekend. I've never driven a real race kart before, so I'm going to be driving like a fool for a while, but I know I'll get the hang of it eventually. I just hope I can afford to spend on it without making any money from it. :nervous:

I don't believe you went into such detail previously. At that point being angry is understandable.

In happier news, my collection is up to 14 now. :)

Dammit, I'm still shopping around for the 1st set for my car. :ouch:

Do I dare ask to see a picture of them, or will my head just explode?!

@Perfect Balance - Go for a nice hour long cruise around the city on a friday or saturday night and you'll see what we're talking about. I've known friends who think they're "fast and furious" who have actually chased down and followed cars before just to tempt them to race, then called the guys losers when they don't race them after being followed for 20 minutes. I always joked and called them stalkers of cooler cars then theirs, but deep down, I really meant it.

Maybe it was my mistake for not fully explaining what I meant. I'll take the blame. But at least now you know what I go through almost on a daily basis. Today, I had what looked to be a 16 yearold kid in a Golf GTI cut me off, change lanes, slow down to get next to me, and yell out his window "lets see that vtek go" or something close to it and punches his accelerator. I ignore him completely. That is almost a prototypical example of what happends to me. As a side-note, his GTI sounded awsome. It was obviously tuned well as he was gone from my view fairly quickly.

I've done that more than a few times. No luck yet.

Yes, gti's do sound nice.

@JCE3000GT - He was probably flooring it to the shop, hoping to get there before his car breaks down again.

@Perfect Balance - Are you sure you're doing it right? Around here theres 4 major roads that circle the city, kinda forming a square, go on either of them on a weekend night and you'll be swarmed on all sides by guys in Geo Swifts thinking they're Paul Walker.

@toyomatt - The UPS guy must hate you. Seriously, you should get him a back brace for christmas after having to unload all those heavy boxes for ya.

Yep, I'm sure I'm doing it right. My car also has some ricer intake on it, but it helped a little with response, so I left it on. It gets a lot of looks from ricers, and the occasional rev, but never challenged.

I don't think the UPS dude has heavy boxes. Lightweight FTW!!

EDIT: It's not saving my formatting, thats why everything is bunched up. I think it might be the proxy I'm using to get by the school filter.

EDIT#2: Fixed the formatting.

Actually, not really bud. No set of mine weighs over 70lbs, so he's not had it too rough. Plus, I know the guy, and he's got to be one of the coolest delivery guys I've ever met. He actually said my wheels looked "bad ass". ;)

McLaren will know where this is but you are describing something similar to Plano, TX--back in the day we used to do this...and by we I mean the street racers. Back when you could street race and the worst the cops could do is give you a ticket. This was before the Fast and the Furously stupid.

Park Blvd. Turn left to -> Alma Turn left to -> Legacy Dr. Turn left to -> (forgot cross street) turn left to -> Park Blvd.

By request of Boz-Man--sort of here's a link for all of you 5th gen Prelude owners that you need to look at.

http://www.absoluteprelude.com/forums/index.php?act=Help&CODE=01&HID=86

Its a guide on how to disassemble your instrument cluster so you can paint your rings.

Here's a peek of the before and after--which I used too much paint and my rings look "bloated". But, from a distance they look decent enough.

Base run - 159whp / 152lb/ft

After I tuned the fuel maps: 176whp / 165lb/ft

Not too bad for an engine that's listed 200whp / 170lb/ft at the crank. :) It's making me happy, as well, knowing that the fuel isn't running lean anymore. It was quite lean during the run. :(

How much does you car weigh, Matt? I'd guess 2500-2600 (before the swap)? I bet the torque of the engine makes for effortless acceleration on ramps and for passing people and whatnot.

Whats next on the list? Some cams?

Intake and exhaust replacements will come first, seeing as they don't flow properly for the engine. RSX's use smaller diameter runners on their header than the TSX.

2535lbs, and yes, the torque does make a difference.

Originally, the D17A2 dynos in at 96whp / 82lb/ft. So, it's quite an upgrade. ;)

I got my mirrors painted body color.

For free.

Oh YEAH!

Pics will come later.

Doing nothing to you car sucks. I won't be doing anything probably until new years, once I pay my car insurance and can spend my money.

And I'll have to remove my enkei's for my Civic HX wheels for the winter months soon. No grip FTL.

Doubling your torque sounds like a huge upgrade if you ask me. Glad to see you finally got it tuned, and with pretty impressive numbers too. 👍

@Perfect Balance - You can't beat that price, and painted mirrors really change the look of the car. Hurry up and post some pics up while you still have the enkei's on her before the winter rubber goes on and she loses a bit of her "glory".

Here's a pic of the cluster installed in the car--the original and painted.
