A Prelude that's definitely worth seeing. đź‘Ť

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vLUbuut0I8&NR

Cool video, and an amazing Prelude. Although he did bash the Prelude in general quite a bit, most of what he was saying was true, it is a heavy beast with major understeer. :guilty:

The list of modifications seemed pretty simple though for the amount of performance that was gained. Hopefully with video's like that people can see what kind of potential the Prelude holds and maybe, if we all wish hard enough, Honda might bring the beast back into the line up. đź‘Ť

Sp33 - How did the install go for the keyless entry, and were ya able to get the lights hooked up? Its a pretty simple fix, I think only 2 wires, so if your still having problems i'll see if i'm able to find the wiring diagrams.

Taurine - Sounds good man, wish I could get my car back out to the track, but i'll have to settle for passes on the back roads with the G-Tech Pro. :indiff:

the install went fine, they did it for me lol. As for getting the lights going. I honestly havent tried coz i hav no idea what to do. lol.

Pretty good day for me, PB was 15.429 @ 145.5 with a 2.531 60ft.

Best Trap: 146km/h
Best 60ft: 2.531

Gotta work on those 60fts, the economy tires don't help much but I was pretty consistent over the 10 runs I had: 2.533, 2.606, 2.570, 2.545, 2.799, 2.589, 2.531, 2.571, 2.635 and 2.684.

The last two I had mad wheel hop and I'm pretty sure I was burning more clutch then tire in the burnout... :embarrassed:ops:

Good fun, might even go to the next two events for ****s and giggles.

The Prelude is nothing to mess with. The car can really run some people that are not paying attention. Very well tunned, and shows that V-tec DOES make a drooling sound.

PLEASE I want more Honda videos!

How much does he want for it? Where in Illinois are you?

He isnt selling it YET. Not until he finds a replacement hatch, and when he is looking to sell it you are going to have to get into a VERY VERY long line of people. So many people want that car, its unreal. I dont see the fun in a 1.5 liter 4 banger with less than 100 hp, but I guess the fact that it gets around 40 mpg might have something to do with it?

Well if the crx is in good condition , no rust , no mods . Then theres a reason for so much people wanting it. A good crx is hard to find now a days (northamerica mostly from what I read). And its a great platform to start with. light weight chassis and stiff chassis is always good for racing. Also dropping a b18c or even a b16 can put a grin on your face when you fly by that v8 mustang:dopey:

Taurine: not bad for the first time out. Work on your 60fts and you can get 14s easy. Also better tires would do PLENTY. Let me ask you a question. Did your crx come with an LSD tranny? if not that would be a good investment:)

Great, just increase the Vtec boost and you should trap 100mph easy. :P

Glad you guys liked that video I posted back there, the guy driving in it is quite older I think (maybe late 20's early 30's).

I went on another prelude cruise today was one of the better ones we went through some of the local mountains (@VIPERGTSR: up to mount lofty via greenhill road đź‘Ť ) Then one of the guys had managed to get his hands on a sound meter so we measured our stereos, the highest was around 110db I think, also my exhaust measured at 120db! I find that hard to believe, it isnt really that loud. Even so Im thinking about getting a decent muffler now, maybe a magnaflow or something. . .

Hehe bet that was great fun aslong as the traffic wasn't too bad.

I have been aching to go through them again in my car for awhile now, I used to be up in the hills almost every weekend.

Taurine - Not bad, hopefully with a little more practice you can lower those times. Any pics of the track you were running on? Wouldn't mind seeing the differences between ours and yours.

Mclaren Man - Your making me jealous with all these Prelude cruises. Anymore pics or videos taken at this event? That last video gave me lead-foot-itis for almost a week.

Here is a piccy that I came across of the meet up, there were also 3 more preludes (4th gens) that were not included in this shot, that makes for a total of 15 preludes :D

and that is me standing on the right hand side of the pic talking to the guy wearing that bright yellow jacket.

Which RPM are you launching at? You're in the 14s for sure, if you can get that 60ft down by at least 2 tenths.

I can't really remember, around 4000/4500/5000?

Preload, handbrake down/clutch up/foot down and was wheelspinning quite bad. The 2.8 60' was when I tried 80% throttle but it resulted in a 16.2 :(

Try launching around 3000 instead, it might yeld slightly better results... and if you feel brave, maybe slip the clutch just a little wee bit on the way out, so it doesn't hop too bad.

Heck, I say that, and I still suck at launching.

Yea I was all excited and eager and just went out there and gave it ****, maybe next time I'll do it a bit better.

I'm generally pretty good at holding a car on the point of spinning though.

Oh and I didnt see any smoke from my tyres but in my defense I didn't hold it still for very long and might've rolled over the smoke :P

Guy at work comes up to me today and asks 'So hows the bug?' I just laughed.

He said now I can understand how difficult it is for them running 1.1 60fts and keep it consistent, some dude in an STI pulled a 1.8 next to me and holy crap it looked ferocious.

I just bought a 93 civic si.

Nice, they're definitely one of my favorite Civics! đź‘Ť

What kind of condition, how much, and anything done to it? Give us the details.

Mclaren Man - Damn, that line up makes me wanna drive to Aussie-land and get in line. Did you and your girl (i'm assuming shes with you) plan on matching vest's, or was that coinidence?

Its got 190,000 miles on it, Its teal, the paint is chipped but not really faded. There is rust under the paint on the right rear but other then that its pretty good. It has those god awefull altezzas but I'm going to get some stock tails for it soon. It also has a cd player but I didnt fiddle with it. The engine is stock. SOHC vtec 1.6l with a 5 speed. It seems to be pretty solid. The interior is dark gray. I couldnt get the rear hatch open for some reason so I'll have to check that out.

I bought it from a ford dealer. They were asking $1500 but I got it for $700. With tax and all that the total came out to $881.56.

You really cant beat that.

Was never a huge fan of that teal color, but for that price you can't complain. Any idea on what your plans are for the car yet?

I say you do a JDM SiR-II build. đź‘Ť

I'm going to pound it into the ground street racing like a crazy bitch...

Actually no I dont have any real plans yet. Autox, track day... basicaly anything I can take it out there and drive its wheels off.

I will probably stay sohc. Forced induction is a possibility though.... we shall see. It all matters on where I decide to race it. I'll try and get pics up soon but the car isnt at home yet. I will take delivery in about 15-16 hours.

Speaking of SOHC, are SOHC VTEC engines longer than normal 4-bangers because of the extra cam lobes? Or is there something that I'm missing?

I dont believe so. Looks like the standard issues D16 size to me.

I'm so excited about owning an SI... on the ride up there I didnt know anything about it so I was sure it was going to be a vx or a cx or some crap trim level like that.

The extra cam lobe on VTEC cams is in the space between the two "normal" lobes that is usually round on non VTEC engines, so no, it's not any longer.

FYI, the Si hatch was heavier than even the coupes and sedans of that generation... what a little pig this thing is.

Yes it is indeed a pig of a car but its faster then my sedan was even after I gutted it. The sun roof and the factory front and rear sway bars plus extra sound deadening bumps the weight up a bit... Its odd that it doesnt have power windows but I'm not complaining. The power steering felt so odd after going so long without driving a car with it.

My old CX was weighing almost as much as an Si... and that was with a cage, an H22 and the turbo/manifold/piping/intercooler.

Wonder what the current project is weighing in at...

What year CX, and did you do the engine swap yourself?
I've been thinking alot of a EG/H22 swap, and there is a company around here that makes/sells all the parts needed (mounts, axles, etc.) for the swap. I have the engine, and I can get a EG EX (Canadian Si) coupe for a pretty cheap price, so i'm just wondering what kind of work i'd be getting myself into trying to shoe horn the H22 under the hood.
