:sly:

If it doesn't move and should, use WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use duct tape.

Very cool progress.

Clean Civic, toyomatt. The wheels are slightly goofy and look heavy as crap, but they're "unique".

Taurine, you're almost ready to rumble it looks like. I hope your headlights are glass, cause the turbo might melt them.

^^^^ Last i heard i dont think hes putting the headlights back in. I think he might have been contemplating just putting an object in to fill the space

(this is from memory, let us know taurine!!!)

Im doing my advanced drive course today too!! Will talk laters, this is gunna be hella fun :D

You don't know much about rims, then. They're SSR Reverse Mesh rims, bud. 16x7.5's weighing in at 16.8lbs each. They're insanely light for late '80's, early '90's rims.

Yeah, I had no clue what rims those were, matt. I can say for sure I've never seen another Civic, or any car for that matter, with those rims, so yours would stand out in a crowd, which is cool. I didn't realize they were that light, either. So they look cool, they're functional, and that's all you need. Are the rims used or have you always had them? I'm guessing they were fairly inexpensive, also. Triple wammy.

You need to stop making assumptions about things you don't know anything about, bud. They're from Japan, which cost me a lot on shipping, and they're not cheap by any means. A set of 4 15" (mine are 16") from Takumi Project (not where I ordered, but they've got some in stock, and it's usually a good basis on pricing) usually cost in the $1200 range without tires. 16" Reverse Mesh rims are incredibly rare compared to their 15" bretheren. Why, you may ask? Because they're forged aluminum. Not many rims are forged aluminum (I can show you a list), most are Cast aluminum, which is heavier and very weak in comparison.

Thanks for straightening me out. I've already said I was pretty uneducated about all this stuff, and that's one reason I joined the club. You said the rims were "late '80s/early '90s", so I figured the actual rims were that old. I didn't realize a manufacturer would produce the old design for this long.

You say they're really rare, and I bet it's pretty cool to know you're not likely to see another car with the same rims as you, no matter where you go. Do a lot of people like them and know what they are, or do they wonder "why the hell did he put those ugly ass things on there?"

You just cant stop while you're ahead huh. You're the only person here that thinks those are ugly. If that wasnt laughable enough you actually said they were cheap. I WISH I could afford real SSRs.

As a rule you can pretty much rely on anything old, and that fits a honda to be overpriced lol. ESPECIALLY OEM.

OEM foglight switch (without foglights) $85 US :embarrassed: just for example.

Well, to those who are wheel aficianado's (or wheel whores :)), my rims look like a gold mine. To give you an example, I was at a car show last Saturday, and I had a couple people come up to me and offer me some rather nice sets of rims/tires plus cash for them. Some people do ask why I'd put something of an older generation on my '01 Civic, and I just simply answer with, "Because I can, and I like them." Bud, it's simple, if you like something, don't have someone else tell you otherwise. I like vintage SSR's a lot, and I doubt this is the last set you'll see on my car. I've got an opportunity to pick up some Defi's (you probably don't know what those are) and I might do so this Spring. Heck, as of RIGHT NOW, I'm waiting for my RC Starks to show up (they're on their way over from Japan as well ;)).

If you ever get a chance to look up a driver that has done what I'm about to do (in a way), you should look up Ryan Ordinario and his EF Civic hatchback. He's got 16+ sets of rims/tires (all JDM pieces of hotness), and I plan to top his collection. Some people ask why so many, I say, it's a hobby and it's heck of a lot cheaper than buying a new car, whenever I want to change the driving attitude of my car. :)

Thank you Time_Attack and SRV2LOW4ME for the backup. :)đź‘Ť

You won't find a cleanest EF, folks.

I'll help you out with this one.

The bastard. :grumpy:

Your welcome. :D

He's not the guy who sold his HB and bought an NSX with a set of rare Mugen rims on it is it?

If not, I wonder what he did with his collection of wheels?! He could probably start a JDM rim museum if he kept them.

Nah, that's Chad Costello. Ryan still has the EF, that was a big hoax, apparently. :P

This is the time when I'm embarrased to be a Honda owner. Some people just take it too seriously.

See, usually, it's when I see stuff like that...

...that I'm embarrassed to be a Honda owner.

Thanks for locating the pictures, guys. That's a heck of a lot easier to discuss, when I got people posting pictures. :) I actually keep tabs on Ryan, and his and my last discussion was about sets of rims. He seems to have plateaued in his spenditures. :) Whilst I am already planning on my third set to purchase. ;) That all relies on whether or not my bud will pay me for the PC I built him over a year ago. My RC Starks should be here in Oct. (they're on the ship coming my way in about 1week).

Oh, and for anyone who's interested. I took a mini-shoot today to see how stiff my suspension is. Enjoy.

Yea some of those civics seem to be running on a fair bit of sticker horsepower.

If you are going to make your car fast (ie turbo) I personally think that doing that is enough, are all those ricey stickers really necesary? Id rather just keep it simple, like painting it bright yellow or something. . .

The color is fine, in my opinion, but the stickers are a bit excessive. If I were to have his EF, I'd probably just have the older window banner (Honda Primo) and his newer front lip sticker (Wheel Whore).
