Exactly, we start with 1 qualifying for Race A. Race A's results form the grid for Race B. We've discussed this, it's all in the thread - so thank you for remembering cgg 👍

I apologize if you missed it, I thought I had made it very clear how qualifying was going to work. If there weren't issues with cgg's connection, he would've lead the grid (I think, depending on computer adjudication?)

You're right, I missed it. My bad.

You're right, I missed it. My bad.

No stress, I'm just sorry for the confusion :).

---

Ok, so not the most perfect two races I could've envisioned, people dropping out, penalties that are confusing, but I hope we all had fun.

Race A was fantastic, I think everything went well, we all performed qualifying first, lead a 'mostly' clean race, I think a few nudges here and there occured, notably my foolish one of nudging cgg on the 3rd to last corner, which I let him go past for. The computer seemed not to like him winning, maybe to do with the skid, idk, but at any rate, since it says I came first and cgg second (with a shorter lap time), I don't recall there being anything 'too serious' to warrant cgg giving up his place in Race A especially because...

Race B. Wow, now, seems like cgg was disconnected 9 seconds before the start! That's completely unfair, but I think this happens in real life racing too (engine issues, starting from the pits, ect), so I'm going to award him 7th position. Did someone else have issues connecting too? I don't know how that happened.

Otherwise, I was given a good run for my money by HusamOne's Orange Civic, I think he nearly had me several times, and looked faster so I moved off the racing line so he could pass me, but then I'd be harder under braking, but good show overall.

I've saved both replays, if there are any 'race' disputes, please PM me and the three judges will investigate. If the incident involves 1 or more of the judges, they'll recuse themselves, and the other one or two left will make a judgement.

It is my league, so I can overturn any judgements I believe aren't quite right, but I think that'd only be for an extreme scenario.

We'll organise some practice sessions for Round 2, I think we'll focus on just the 'track of the week' that we're racing on Saturday, instead of spending time on all of the tracks.

I'm glad to see many of us had fun, same time next week for four more weeks :).

Thanks Cgg for once again, keeping our OP up to date and look'n good.

Remember this was only the first two races S1R1A and S1R1B, we still have 8 more races!

That's 200 points up for grabs, so even if you missed a few points here and there, its very close, and is anyone's championship, hope to see you all there next week, maybe some more too :)

EDIT: So, when is a good time for a practice session?

I set a new on for myself on the second race a 1:36:5xx quite happy with myself😃😃😃

Might i suggest after there where some issues on the day....

That we are able to communicate via the in game chat window?

It seems unfair that people without smart devices may not be able to communicate via the GTplanet forum?

Surly then to avoid any missed conversation we should all chat via the in game method what is the general opinion on this?

when is next practice? anybody think they may get online tonight?

Makes sense to me, I don't have a problem with it as long as the chatbox isn't popping up just as I need to see an apex on the left.:P But Conza hates the chatbox. But he loves polls! So maybe a poll on this?

Unfortunately we already seem to, but it's so shocking, if we all had keyboards, I probably wouldn't mind, bit using that controller... Would rather walk on broken glass

Mine is that the thread doesn't work, and neither does the in game text communication... We could try voice? I think we need another alternative.

If we could all use Skype or a similar voice chat room program, that might be a good solution, out even a text chat room might be better, I'm sure there's places we could set up a room with a password ect

Thursday afternoon/night (my Friday morning) suits me, have work the next two nights so don't feel like ferrying up to early much (he says at 4am after a work night...) Everyone else game?

I've taken the liberty of dusting off the old 'HHL' club section, and I've invited all of those who participated in the last race to join, I'm glad to see we're now up to 12 members!

Cgg, Dano20 and myself were already members from before, and I'm pleased to see Quade has joined it too, and if the other 5 who participated join, AND we get the other 8 pre-existing members from the first attempt to participate, we'll have a group of 17 members!

That would be an amazing result!

Also I'm holding a practice my Friday morning, your Thursday afternoon or Night, as I've said before, it's at Eiger, remember to lower your transmission ratio/speed, I've found ~200-220 to be about right, prove me wrong with a 190 or a 230, ect if you'd like, but tis a short track, should be pulling 1:13s atleast :)

Hope we can make it, and maybe some new/old faces too :D

Conza why dont we put some photos of the last race up onto the thread or maybe into the "club" page ?

i wouldn't mind getting some pics sent over to you for up load?

Maybe even a reply video?

I think it's a great idea, many of the other greater clubs do it, if you'd like Spatt you can be our 'Director of Cinematography' ;). I have both of the race replays saved if you'd like my copy / as well? Let me know, I think each user's data file will record different things, which is why all of the other cars we race seem jittery, because the internet is updating their position and speed from the user via the internet.

Let me know, it'd just take an email probably.

That would be a good idea spatt

No worries.

A reminder for all old and new, the practice settings are in a previous post, and if you use them in your own lounge at the same tracks, you should be racing in an identical environment to the official practices and races.

@Cgg, could you please update the OP with the current Lounge settings? It'll be easier to reference in the future.

Ok i'll have a go (i got the idea off another group im in)

ill save the photo's to my XMB and either

-Remove the file from PS3 to PC and e-mail them to Conza (for upload to forum)
-send msgs via PS3 to Conza

i guess the first one will be easier for you Conza (if you dont mind me e-mailing you)

Will we be making the races a little longer?

Also i'd like to see weather playing a part in the future?

P.S. ill use my videos (replays i saved on the night) to gather the photos we can judge the quality and go from there for now. ;)

Yes Let's do this one, you could make things a bit easier and just post the images yourself? I'll just put you in charge of the whole thing, only pointers would be, key over taking manuevers, crashes, ect, just the obvious stuff, and anything you see that you like.

Me too, this happens in real racing all the time, we could practice in the wet, then it's a dry race, or vice versa, or having night races, all sorts of things, definately something for Series 2, same goes for longer races, I think I've set them up too short, a bit anyway. I measured how long each track was, using the longest, then tried to get the others to fit into that an equal amount of times.

For this series it's all about getting the word out about it, setting the stage, the tone, just basic hot hatch stuff at the moment. Depending on how big the series gets, with members and popularity, we could be running multiple difference series all at the same time, 2, 3 or 4 concurrently, but we'll start small and work our way up, my goal is to have all of the 17 people who've been interested in the past interested again, so if that's you, please post and sign up :)

I think I'll start the "HHL | Series 2" Thread as well as the "HHL | General Ideas" one, so things for the series in mid-late March can be talked about, as well as the league in general.

I would concentrate on this series first buddy.. but.. defo for the future.

it seems if people are going to make the effort to come online they might as well race for longer it makes it more worthwhile. now im not saying let do endurance races but, lets see about either making races longer or...

Lets do more than just the two races.. i mean whats wrong with doing one event (as in the two races) ... having half hr rest period ... then racing another event? i'd be up for making a night of it.

Well my initial idea was to have all of the tracks done in a night, but I think it's better to stretch it out a bit.

I'll see what I can do to stretch the events race length, I suppose as long as there is only two races it's probably ok for each event to go for almost an hour. Roughly two 25 minute races, plus a break.

Here's a rough idea of making the races 3 to 4 times longer, as well as 4-5.5 times longer.

Calcs 'Option A' and 'Option B', are quite crude, I based all of this on the length of Trial Mountain being 5 minutes at 12 kms, so all the formulas are based on a "divide 12, times 5", but the proper way would be to actually run the tracks. I could use the PBs to sharpen the calc, but the race distances to a rough time should be close.

So as those who were there know, the original event took us 30 minutes, allowing for two 5 minute races, 7 minute break, and a brief qualifying session, and some overhead.

By increasing only the race time (not event time, just the time of one race), we'd likely achieve an event time of roughly an hour.

If becomes quite difficult to manage the higher up you go, balancing out how many laps and so on, for example in Option A, Laguna could be only 10 laps each race, but then it was the shortest event, so with 11 laps its now in the middle.

What do people feel about these proposals? Still too short (I really hope not)? Slightly too long? Or possibly just right? Feedback welcome ;),post if you prefer either option, or another alternative, I'm hesitant to increase the laps beyond Option B, so keep that in mind.

For now until we get several people saying this is an improvement, we'll continue on the basis that the original half hour events will occur, but I'm also in favour of increasing our events by ~double (almost an hour to an hour).

EDIT: Both calcs had mistakes in one of their collumns, so I've uploaded them together in one image with the correct cell headers, this should make it easier to compare as well. and I've tried to edit my post/s

You've just baffled my head a bit as I'm going to sleep, but. Guess I'm with either option (more option A) because... I will ask that we start the event a little earlier (if required) as I have another event at 9:30 GMT as long as th event is finished before 9:15 I'm easy going. ;)

I could probably give you 9:25, but I'm pretty firm on the start time, I'm getting up at 6:55am, any earlier to open the room up would be, well more coffee than I can afford probably.

Option A is looking good, I'll put my vote to that too, if 1-2 more people think it's good, let's change over to that for the rest of the series. I'm going to leave weather alone for series 1, and we'll see if we can through it into series 2

As a side note, and since I love double posting to make everyone see there's new information, check out a new discussion section I've made in our club here. I think I've invited everyone, if I haven't invited you let me know and I'll fix it up.

EDIT: Also, won't tripple post, so, here's a list of all of the FFs in their various categories, now that its set up (which took way too long), it'll be easy enough to move things around, I'm sure it isn't 100% accurate, but there are no overlaps, meaning Integras aren't Hatchbacks And Coupes, they are all currently classified as Hatches.

I don't think we need a thread for each new series. The title of threads can be changed, so just update one.

Probably not 100% necessary, but it does make it easy having the OP as a point of reference, so I would rather have one thread per series, besides, they run long enough, this one has you as the OP, would rather it be myself instead of having to ask you every time to tweak it as well.

Oh ok. I just find it quite pointless. I wouldn't be surprised if the threads got closed down, because they are repeats.

well they won't be, we'll cross that bridge if we come to it. Worst Case well close this thread once wee finish series 1.

Also remember practice will be Thursday afternoon / night, for new comers we always run at the same time for practices and races, 3:30pm US / 8:30pm UK / 7:30am AUS.

So I'll wake up my Friday morning get the room opened at 3pm/8pm/7am and we'll start practice officially 30 minutes later.

What I'd like to do this time, is do a full race length practice, so once we're all settled and ready, I'll set it at 17* laps, and we can just go about driving and practicing that way.

It'll be 17, so that we can all use the first lap to space out, and try not to be racing each other, each lap is roughly 70 seconds, so we'll do some simple maths, if there's a heap of us we'll leave 10 seconds between us, if there's only a few (5 or less) we'll allow 15. If it gets really busy (8+) we'll need to reduce the gap.

So 3, 2, 1, 1st car takes off, everyone else is braking, 2nd car waits for x number of seconds then takes off, ect, ect, ect.

Less than 24 hours till the practice hope to see you there 👍

EDIT: We (cgg, ste and I) had a little inpromptu practice, and we did a full race run, and it was far too long, so all of the previous options Aa and B, it'll be based on 50% of A for all future practices and races. We also tried a formation lap, which was pretty terrible too, so we'll stick to 'race a qualifying', 'race a/race b qualifying', 'race b'.
