So, any advice as to how exactly I should go about doing this hard top? Having some difficulty deciding what I should do.

Keep in mind it's not fitting well in the photo because the back window glass is interfering with the interior seats so I have some trimming to do...

A little wheel experiment.. It's no where near as good as the pro's do it, (check 3rd or 4th page of thread), but it's a start i guess.

I've painting the rubber tyre with acrylic (still drying so no pics), not sure how it will turn out, but applying permanent black marker to the clear rubber just doesn't seem to work (easily wiped off).

Oi, awesome! Also, wth is that S2000? That Isn't the HW nor the Maisto casting, who makes that one?

Also...

What size tubing? What are you using for tires?

ALL THIS GOT DAMMIT :0

Also, I spent an afternoon working on my blog yesterday. Can I get some feedback on what you think of its content and layout of it? I worked on the About page on my customs as well as the master list of my collection now publicly available so will you guys be as so nice to give feedback specifically on these two pages?

Browse it like you're interested in finding out info. What do you like? What don't you like? I just want to know if there's anything I may have missed or something that doesn't seem intuitive or confusing to navigate. Also, point out any typo or grammar mistakes if you happen to find any. Thanks guys!

Can't see it at work (as well as Lamley, lol) but I'll check it out at home and spew something later.

A rear picture might be in order here, as I want to say that the trunk shutlines coincide with the ones in the hardtop but I can't be certain from this angle. The side window space look pretty good, how much did you trim off the front of the top to make it fit?

Also, fender flares?

The end of the hard top doesn't reach the end of the trunk. I will be using some modeling putty to lengthen it.

Nothing.

Not finished yet.

No dude, the upper shutline of the trunk. Just provide a rear picture got dammit  an straigh-up view of it could also be of help.

also, fender flares (:

Doesn't matter where that line ends up as the line on the trunk is covered anyway.

And I'm not finished yet. One thing at a time, this isn't a 3-day project. :P

Naaaw, the hardtop doesn¿t cover the entire width of the trunk, right? It doesn't seem so from the pic, to me it seems that thee's a little upper trunk showing regardless of the hardtop.

I think that should be your starting point unless you're willing to fill either line up and make new ones.

You only see it because the top isn't sitting on the car right. The rear window glass is interfering with the seats so it's preventing it from sitting flush with the car. When it does, the line is gone. Side lines don't matter, only the top one.

So the top covers the entire trunk, and the sidelines of the trunk do match with the line that is in the top somewhere?

Also, will you file away the roofscoop?

I had forgotten

I like the layout, straight and to the point. I hate blogs where you have to click "older posts" in order to reach what you are looking for. In here you have everything at the right side conveniently marked and linked. I also like the background picture, which is a detail that had gone unrealized until I browsed down and down on the master collection post. Nice.

You just need a rotating main banner and you're set.

I don't know if that's even possible, but thanks for the suggestion.

It should be, you just need to add some pics to the right of the banner (I like the font 👍 ) and then find the coding so every time someone browses, the pics rotate. I had something like that in my website.

Jason & Cano, (regarding wheels). The tubing is an empty E-cigarette refill canister-thingy, the tyres/rubber is the end caps to them, the size is around 9-10mm (tubing). They work okay i guess, but it's not the exact look i'd like, the tyres are too low-pro, and i would actually prefer it if the diameter were a bit smaller, though i can double up on the rubber to increase the tyre size (two bands).

Ideally i need to get some slide fit aluminium tubes, (think that's what the pro's use).

Cheers Andy & Cano. 👍👍
Haven't checked out your blog yet AOS (i'm at work atm, but will do when i get home later this evening). And Cano, the S2000 is a 'Realtoy'. (if you need one but have trouble finding it, let me know, as i come across them fairly frequently).

Jason, that hard-top suits it well 👍, just need a pic without the interior to properly see the fit, and i think i'd be tempted (if it were mine), to get rid of the roof vent (unless it's going to be a Time Attack beast).

[EDIT] BTW, I thought the Lamley customs were epic this week, pretty much all of them were , loving the work of Putera Terbuang, especially (kind of thing i'd like to achieve), also liking the Toyota $uper-$uper, and that crazy photoluminescent Splitty, and Wow, those turning wheels on 1/64! 👍

So, sadly, it isn't a tube or something we could find in a regular basis, for cheap and in practically limitless quantities. The search goes on.

Also, thanks for the offer on the S2000, but I wouldn¿'t ship from the UK for just a S2000  what else toy got? A custom 240Z maybe? (:

The use of clear is a neat idea, though at that point, you'll probably build up a thick layer which you can physically feel, and I'm not sure how good that may be. Thanks for sharing though. I'll have to try it out eventually!

You're supposed to use clear that's thin enough then. You're not actually trying to apply a coat, but just something that acts as a border for the paint. The paint will eventually be much thicker than the clear anyway.

Keeping up with this and the collector's thread is such a chore sometimes and I found myself avoiding it lately. But that doesn't mean I'm not constantly fiddling with my cars.
I picked these up yesterday and did a pretty obvious wheel swap on the one.

I can't wait to give it a respray. :D

Make a gold one before Mattel does so then you can be like:

I had a gold Hot Wheels 2000GT before it was even sold.

Take off those black lines.

EDIT: Everyone is going to make that when they finally hit the stores in good numbers. And also the yellow/green one.

I know I will, lol.

Of course, it's practically the only appearance of the car in motorsports outside of Japan. In Japan there were a handful of 2GT that raced, but even over there they are somewhat obscure.

I suppose I will do a convertible. When I think of one, I just think of the white one Connery drove.
The real challenge will be to make the car look like a factory convertible and not just one inspired by James Bond.
In other words, I want people to think of a convertible 2000GT and not just the James Bond one in a different color.

Then just don't make it look like the James Bond one. :P

I had a look at pics. right off the bat, your car cannot be white and it cannot have LW wheels. 👍
