Too afraid to even use a small file?

No small file I had fit in there, and the plastic was like... not poruous (sp?) enough to be trimed away with a file. I had to do it with the Dremel, and that was all my pulse could handle

Been awhile since I posted here.

@At1: The 240Z is looking good man, the color suits it nicely. And I'm with Cano, finish it dude!

@Cano: That Challenger is badass. The green really flows with the vinyls and those white wheels are perfect. Are you doing another MB or even a HW Challenger soon? :)

Uck, stop getting me in trouble, I wouldn't know how to properly explain it in english lol. I'll try to make sense. The plastic was far too soft in it's consistency to be filed away properly, it wasn't too firm once you started digging trough it and kinda "returned" a bit. I dunno, just trust me, I was afraid of breaking it.

Aaah I get you now. No I didn't layer them over because the background color was light enough not to get lost in it, and surprisingly, the yellow of the side decal didn't turn into green once applied in the car. But maybe it would have looked better..
I didn't think it would need it since it is so much lighter than the Hamada. When layering decals, does it stick really well when it is applied? Considering the Hamada is much brighter, do you think I will have to do that?

You never cease to learn while making these things. I may do that next time.
Well, I don't mean to brag, but I am a fast learner. ;) I got many projects in progress right now. ;)

Edit: Reuploaded since I no longer need Photobucket.

No, but you won't be able to do the white outline because you can't print white. You'll have to settle with the black letters.

Nah it shouldn't be a problem. Make sure to have a piece of cloth and some needles.
When you take the decal out of the water first gently soak up water with the cloth so only the backing paper is still wet. This should allow you to pull the decal off nicely, yet not have enough water to break the bond of the pre applied decal since there wouldn't be enough to get under the decal.
Even if you do screw up and somehow manage to break the bond just wipe away as much water as you can and try to re position decals with the needles.
Using clear seems like a lot of hassle when there's no need for it.

Of course Cf (clumsiness factor) varies greatly from person to person and I won't judge anyone if they don't want to fiddle around with needles too much.

All Apok said but no needles, they're too harsh and pointy and you could break the decals. Use toothpicks.

Good point, I forgot to mention that. I use a dull (as far as needles go) sewing needle.

Oh go to hell.
Well just be that way! :irked: (sarcasm) I don't actually own one but my teacher at collage has one that I can use. ;)

You might have to clear the car first before putting the decal over the other decal, as putting water over it again might turn it loose or move a bit.
That makes sense. I do not like needles anyway. :scared: Toothpicks are as close to needles as im going to use. :ill:
This may have been answered already, but what if I already clear coated a vehicle and want to put decals on it, could I still apply them?

I figured it would, but I wanted to ask anyway to be on the safe side.

Another question is, (probly a dumb question) if I print a small decal on a decal paper sheet, then cut out the part I need, could I use that sheet again as long as print in a different place on the sheet?

Yes you can use the sheet as long as you can feed it in the printer, you can cut the decal and the print in another part in the sheet without any problem

Of course. As the printer "grabs" the sheet in vertical form, try to use it adross the sheet, so it will always have somewhere to grab it; if you run out of surface, simply tape it to another paper sheet and done you are.

Here is a quick custom I made, the other day I was at walmart and I was looking for some HW to customize, nothing seems good enough on the pegs, but suddenly I remember a Solstice from Maisto I saw days before, I went to the Maisto pegs and I found it without any problem

this is the original car:

The casting is great but as always those wheels they use are horrible

The car is assembled with screws so it’s very easy to customize and then close it again

After I found the car I went to the matchbox pegs to get some new tires

I use BareMetal Foil on the windshield frame, Its the first time I use BareMetal on a 1/64 scale car

I Just love this quick customs...

For the minimum outlay and minimal effort, the car looks awesome. It looks like it's a real Matchbox, even. That's saying something. The interior came out great 👍

I'm going to be working on a Maisto Solstice myself eventually.

Looks just like a MB Mainline. Good work, Akmuhd. 👍

Wonder how many of those will see their way towards me like your Stealth cars (: I like the Lotus and he GTO.

The slinky is used to make dope stripe patterns.

Also, kill yourself, Cano. This series made run as another quantitative series, but I'm being more selective of what goes in. Plus, I'm going to make a display frame for this so the chances of me getting rid of it is lower. Even if I did, I'd just recycle them by using any casting to make a new custom :P

You'll soon see results of the cars you sent me. I've already played wiht most of them, but not with the Stealth cars as those will be stripped, the only one that will stay flat blak is the Cobra, which is almost fnished now.

So much dust caught on the cars during clear coats. Here's a quick & dirty photo for now since I got work in an hour so I don't have time to post edit other photos just yet. Still pretty happy with how it turned out. Did a lot of Testors and Toothpicking this time. Also need to tweak previous graphics so I don't keep using the exact same decal all the time.

Folks this is the debut post of the Ilustrious Series; the primary colour-scheme series. I've kept the real name of the "White Series" secret for a long time because I wanted to surprise you guys. This is the first installment of the series hence the #1. As for how many there are I don't know.

Good that you're happy with them, that dust in the clear would kick my OCD into overdrive. You saw my reaction with a not-so-smooth clear coat the other day.... :scared:

This series is meant to focus on quantity over quality so I had no problems coping. That's not to say I'll want to pass up on a speckle-ful body either.

There's quite a few large photos so I'll keep it only to two:

Pretty photos of individuals can be found on blog. Link is in the sig.

I like it more in standard red than metalic... I think. I dunno. FINISH IT ALREADY GOT DAMMIT.

Been awhile since I posted here.

 Cheers guys. 👍

Should have it finished (finally) by next weekend. I would've posted up some pics of it today, but things didn't go to plan when trying to paint on the details... (right royal PITA), and although there's nothing i can do about fixing the many imperfections (just don't have the skills), i'm hoping the overall finished look will (once completed), look acceptable/okayish.

@ Andy.
Illustrious series look great. 👍 Aston and the Lotus are my faves, but they all turned out looking great, especially like the custom decal/font.

[EDIT]
Really digging that Teal Pad too, cool colour. 👍

@ Ahmed.
Great looking Solstice, the wheels, interior and BMF have worked wonders. 👍

[EDIT]
@ John/Lamley.
Awesome as is the custom selections this week. I really enjoy and look forward to seeing that part of your blog. 👍

[3rd EDIT ]

Decided to post a couple of pics anyway, (bit blurry, bad lighting and unfinished).
