I use to wash them in soapy warm water, but it only seemed to work a few times, and now they're pretty much covered in the stuff... They still seem to do the job, just not as well when they were brand new.

My Flexi's are pretty much caked too, but i might try using an eraser on them, or a bit of putty rubber, though they are well used now (wears away a bit like, but not as severe as sand paper)... Come to think of it, a scouring pad may do the trick when it comes to diamond coated files.

On the work bench tonight:

My word, Jason. Those wheels now they're painted.
With those wheels that car has the potential of becoming one of these: (I did it a while back in Forza 3)

Tamiya did a kit of it, imagine scaling down these decals:

Just a thought. 👍

Indeed, Andy. Wouldn't even have to worry about white ink, just paint the car white, and any white pin stripes etc could be left clear.

I doubt it would have to be spot-on neither, as the design is so busily awesome, that a sympathetic take on it would look great in small scale!, even if some of the detail is lost.

Heck. The painted wheels look smashing, Jason. I'll deffinitely grab the extra in the case, or maybe I'll follow suit with At1 and finally destroy that Realtoy Porsche that's been sitting there for ages now.

No longer have a computer, so decals are out for now unfortunately. Last night I drilled a hole in the chassis and mounted it to a display case that I will add a theme to, maybe a grid spot on a track. Today it'll get painted white along with the interior.

That's just the base coat with cheap walmart paint, although I did sit it in warm water to help it spray better. No polishing before, just went over it with my wire brush on the dremel like I do all my cars
Filed down as much of the casting marks as I could. Lots of curves on this car, hard to work with.

That looks freaking good, Jason. Tampos (yes I know you don't have a computer. Borrow one or something).

No sanding.

I might be able to make the decals, but will have them laser printed. Need to get some more paper. Car won't be done for a couple weeks. Taking my time on this one.

Come to think of it, I can't put that Porsche in the Illustrious Series now that someone else did a white version of it.

That's okay though. One less car to do in the end. Got enough Porsches to cover the series. I've got a 917 in the works.

I also have one of those in process, altouhg it's been just stripped off it's paint for a year and a half now. I'm trying to figure out a chasis setup without resorting to a full custom plate like you. I don't want a pan-scrapper, just a normal ride height.

You could use a chassis that's too big to fit and shave off the sides until it does. You'll get a bottom that won't make any sense, but it's a lot easier and less time-consuming than making a chassis from scratch.

The problem is the wheelbase, the truck is pretty long, and the chasiss contains the entire front of the truck. What I'm thinking is cutting the wheel attachment points off other chassis and grafting them onto the truck chassis... but that is a long way coming

Lots of putty can solve compatibility issues, where you can simply write over the existing underbody details and make your own if you really wanted. But that's essentially making a chassis from scratch.

I'd say take all the vital bits you need, like the front of the truck, and the axle housing and then attach those to a flat chassis you make on your own. Just don't post photos of the bottom.

Cute. My workspace is buried under stuff right now -_- haven't touched a single car to customize in weeks.
