Can I ask, is the body metal of Hot Wheels quite easy to drill? Because it need to drill out some areas with a small bit and was worried about it snapping.

Also does the paint chip off easily round where you drill or is it OK if you go really slow?

Thanks

Zamac is pretty soft, fairly easy to drill through. Paint may chip off, I would maybe put some tape down first before you drill. That might help.

You drill it on the bottom of the vehicle so it is okey. ;) Not entirely sure what you mean by "snapping" though.

I meant drilling through the bodywork like on the bonnet. If I drill with too small a drill bit it might snap if the metal is too hard.

Thanks for the tip 👍 I was hoping it would be soft-ish metal

Well some bits can break if your not careful.;) Depends on what you are using. I have been told that 1/32 bits break like toothpicks, :scared: but they are very small.

Usually I only use micro drill bits to drill soft plastic, I might just drill a larger hole and file the rest because I don't want to trash nice drill bits.

I snapped a 1/16" bit because I wasn't holding the drill straight one time. Hate small drill bits for that very reason.

Whether or not paint will shred would depend on what paint has been laid down. Not all cars sport the same type of paint and they all don't have the same number of clear coats either. I can't imagine it happening though.

edit: here's a pretty photo or two you can look at for the boring post. They're old ones.

Don't mind the wheels on the Chevy. I would've used size 1 wheels in the back and lowered the ride altogether....kind of like what I did here:

Great '55 mate, and thanks for the tip:tup:
That same car was the very first car I did a wheel change on:)

I like how the wheels look on the 56, but it really needs some chrome trim added to it. Put your pulse to work! Also, paint the Chevy in some two tone red/white or blue/white, they look cool that way. I'll do one as soon as it arrives here:
Thanks for the tip mate:tup: I didn't even think of doing the trim, will give it go next time I've got the paint out:)
I painted the C10 all white the other day, not sure I'd like to try a two tone paint job yet (bit above my skill level I think:lol:)
Hopefully you get some soon mate, can't wait to see yours, that Classic Truck pics awesome:tup:

Some wheel swaps/details for you to take a gander at. After the photos I removed the Hot Wheels logo from the GT3 RS, and the Mustang still needs front/interior details. Trying to decide if I want to swap the interior for a black one I have laying around or leave it the gold color...

Please excuse my lazy attempt at good photos. It was 11pm, and I didn't really care.

That Mustang will be at the basic lineup this year? I'm gonna follow your exact steps with it if it does. Also with the Porsche, lol. The detailing in the Stang's taillamps is quiiiite good.

The left side isn't quite as good as the right side. I was really shaky yesterday and it was really annoying.

The detailing on the rear lights is done pretty damn well. Good job on that.

Got rid of those OH5s, took the CM6s off my Stealth NSX which was originally taken from the Stealth McLaren, and recoloured it. I didn't do silver spokes because I don't have access to my paints, was lazy to dish out hours of colouring so I did something quick.

They need to make "Tuner PR6s" so there can be a variance from PR5s...

Here's one for those who don't follow the diorama thread:

Dream Cruisers Shelby Cobra. Had this done a long time ago, but never took the time to photograph it. It too has a sticky layer of clear which resulted in a dulled finish.

That's fine. Just paint it again and then tear it up.
Meh, I prefer my castings all in one piece.

Do a complete redesign, look up for real Motorhome pics and do one in maybe golden or silver with a stripe across the entire body 👍
I think I will do a complete redesign because I don't think I can find another set of wheels just like what it has for a restoration. Definitely going to give it a set new ones for sure because those have pretty much had it. :ill:

Anytime I am customizing a beat up a vehicle, I always have a tendency to paint it the same color it had before even if it im doing a complete redesign, so I think I am going to follow my anxiety for this one. ;) I have looked up real Motorhome's before but I didn't really see any I liked. So I think I am going to wait until I have painted it before I decide what graphics it will have.

One thing I failed to mention earlier is just before I got my hands on that beat up Motorhome, I was actually already working on another one and so far it is red and I am not sure what to do to it ether. Motorhome duo maybe? :sly:

Was it this one?

Naw dude that's our collab Cobra. Go see the green Cobra in the post I linked in my last post.

You'll see our Cobra in detail soon, I'm redoing two or three things as it again will enter a contest this weekend, Mexico club's theme is 60s cars, and I have high hopes for it in the contest.

After that it will be posted in Custom Diecast México.

Well I'll be damned I didn't ever think of ink. Any particular type of ink or special procedure? Did you have to dip it in and let it stick for a while?

Mustang looks great R1600:tup: that scenery & Cobra are awesome AOS and some nice wheel changes mate:drool:

Did some finishing touches to my C10:)

Received a box of stuff from a guy selling his collection. Didn't expect them to be in such poor shape. That took away my homework/drawing time, but it's almost complete so here's a teaser.

Timmy's things came in and to my honest surprise, they were all beaten up.... to the point I wouldn't add it to my collection.

So I did something about it.

Wheels were losing some paint and the excessive amount of negative space being filled up due to quality reduction drove me nuts after a while.
