I got my wisdom teeth out today so I can't work on any customs :indiff: It's worse because I just received a shipment of Milliput which I was excited to try. Oh well.

Didn't like the big goofy 5SPs. I wanted to do those RR10SP Shelby wheels, but I don't have any. CM6 don't look too bad though. The all-chrome body gives it a novel appearance, fitting for the image of Hot Wheels fantasy cars with CM6 wheels.

For anyone who actually knows haw to paint cars: What kind of primer do you use.

I also found something on my primer that says it cannot be used on galvanized surfaces. Since Hot Wheels are made of zinc, could that be the problem?

It could be. I don't even prime my cars most of the time.

Galvanized metal is zinc coating other steels. Zamak is a combination of zinc and other metals, meaning the surface is not 100% zinc. It should be okay, but - I guess - not the best choice.

Not Hot Wheels! :P

Of course not. They're Matchbox. :P

Well it's not like the paint just rolls right off the surface. It'll stick, but it probably won't adhere too well. Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed when I do use the primer I've been using, paint comes off pretty damn easily. The primer is perfectly in tact though.

It's a little different for me. The paint and primer come off all together. I just finished the primer on a car today and it came off very easily. Again.

So, if anybody has ever used Milliput for a custom, what is a good way to use it? I tried to make a body kit for a Majorette BMW Z3 Coupe, but I'm not sure it's gonna come out well. Anyone have any examples?

It's the humidity. Blame that. :P

Perhaps you shouldn't have the car hanging around humid places for too long. When it gets hotter next month, I imagine I won't have much time to paint anything. I guess my strategy would be to bring all my stuff out: car, paint/primer, etc., and after getting coats on, I'd bring it all back inside the building in a cool place. My house is loaded with dehumidifiers so paint should cure pretty fast in this household.

I'm unsure how milliput ought to be handled, but I use Tamiya Polyestor putty. Because it's got a stickiness to it, I find it hard to even sculpt while the hardener has not fully cured the putty. What I just do is lather on as much as I need and work in a subtractive form by removing excess material. Sandpaper and files are the tools here.

I usually do that. Maybe I'll set up a dehumidifier in my room and see what I can do.

Have a look at this baby.

I painted another black directly on top of the existing black. No primer, just straight up paint. No paint coming off still. Maybe it'll be brittle and flake off with the slightest impact, but hey- I ain't pushing them around. Everything should be alright so long as it doesn't move.

I painted a car over its original paint job. I had no problems with it.

It's just the ones that are already chipped badly, or already have really thick paint that that can't be done with.

The Vette looks really good dude. 👍

I'm looking for some on a car now, but I don't have any spare ones. :indiff: Go figure that some of the nicest looking basic wheels cause me trouble.

Hello guys. I just joined today :)
I'm new in this HW customizing world. Here's some of my customs. others are in progress.
p.s. that Z4 M Coupe is untouched.
