I really wish kids would take better care of their cars

After a little bit ton of scraping, I found the original paint is in pretty decent shape, probably even good enough to keep

Some of you may remember the base splitting on my Plymouth Barracuda Formula S. I went out tonight and got a new one, but I'm going to wait to photograph it once I restart the customization process.

Those are some pretty awesome Mustangs, @Cano. 👍

Outstanding work folks. Just found this forum and thought I'd post some of my past work. The first two are part of a Railroad MOW train I've been working on. They were made from modified cheap 1:64 toys found in a 5 piece set. The third is a Johnny Lightning Partridge Family Bus that I've since passed onto a fellow modeler...it does run, has working headlights and the new owner added a DCC control system to it...

So, I haven't been able to do many cars lately but today I've done two cars, a Scion FR-S, and a Maisto Mustang. I like the Maisto Real Metal series because they have good bodies, but look terrible. Tomorrow I will detail the Scion.

I like that Scion you got there. 👍 That color really brings out my inner child.

Ha! Thanks.

I have some more Scions I want to paint, but can't think of a good color. Any ideas?

Oh and has anybody restored a Matchbox Lesney before? Thinking about finding some old cars at the flea market tomorrow to try and restore.

Yes, I have restored a bunch of them, and the friend with whom I do Custom Diecast Mexico has too. Any doubts about them?

Hi im new to this customing hotwheels thing, but previously i had a lot of them diecast. I interested in customing my old cars, i have a hotwheels turbolence 1999 first edition, the black one with big gold number 1 on the hood. Any opinion on how i should do the paintjob and decal?

But... the Scion is only a few years old..
What I think he meant by that is that the color looks a bit like older toy cars (at least to me).

Well, I was wondering how one might restore the windows and wheels. And how to get the original paint colors.

Well, I've never restored-restored any car as I like to imprint my personal taste on them, so I wouldn't be able to tell you any of that stuff. Specially with Superfast-era Matchboxes as they have the ugliest wheels in the history of diecast cars. The windows can be polished up to make them shiny again, and well, the color and paintjobs can be somewhat closely replicated with, eh, paint and paper decals, since Matchbox used horrible paper decals instead of tampos like Hot Wheels' patented tampo technology.

I have now painted another Scion purple. I have 5 left to paint. Is there anywhere I can get decal paper in a actual store, not online?

Yea that's it and it also looks like something I would own when I was younger.

If you have a Hobby Lobby around were you live, they should have it.
