Thanks for the helpful tip, @vballcoach đź‘Ť And those wheels on the 510 look stunning! Also, what are you using for tyres?

I think R1600 raises a good point too (using BBS RR's), but i'm not sure you'd get the different rim lip sizes (back different from front wheels). That may not matter to some, but for me personally, that differentiation would be the cherry on top the cake.

You do, but you also get different sized wheels and tyres, smaller at front, bigger and fatter at rear, which won't fit the opening for "small" wheels. Remember the Martini and Brumos Porsches we did? The rear tires were custom-made.

EDIT: Seems this was my 18, 000th post :dopey:

I want to get existing real rider tires on my porsche, but the tube I'd have to use would sport a really thick lip with a lot of the wire spokes cropped out. Might need to look at buying another size.

You can use smaller tires on them but you do get a little bit of the rim popping out....see below.

Indeed, we also tried to use small tires on them but we didn't get lip pop as much as we got contact patch distotion due to the "lock" for the tire in the wheel. So we simply opted to massage the big rear wheel until it rolled perfectly.

the tires I made out of a rubber vacuum plug. I stretched them over the wheel and then shaved them down while in the drill. It's more of a drag slick. I did find a link to making custom rubber tires but haven't tried it myself yet. And haven't had time or found the right wheel yet to create my Libre wheels but I know I will figure them out soon enough

ha...had to strip this after I shot it white as the primer I used was bad. the paint wrinkled. oh well. this is why I love using my aluminum putty instead of bondo. it holds up really well if you have to re-strip and paint.

Naw, it's a drag bus. Check out that squarish fenderwell.

I thought it was a Kombi the whole time.
I didn't think the kombi would look as good as a drag bus but I just fit one on the fast hauler and it looks pretty good.
I'm probably going to do a kombi fast hauler now.

Hey there everyone, new to the forum and new to customizing Hot Wheels. I have browsed through as much of this thread as I can and was hoping to pick up some tips and tricks from experienced builders. As my first custom I decided to turn a Supra into a drag car, so far it is going to my liking but I am wondering what to use for a body filler on the zamac? I used the putty shown in the second picture, it easy to scuplt and sands well but I am unsure about durability.

Most sculpting putty works. Avoid the hard durable plumbing stuff like JB Weld.

The drag car idea is off to a great start. Love the wheels you picked out. Shame you couldn't keep the Falken livery.

Wow, Thanks for the heads up, I was going to try some JB Weld if this stuff didn't turn out well! The livery had to go, I'm hoping a solid color will bring attention to all the custom bits haha

JB Weld's not designed to be reshaped unfortunately. You can look into Milliput or Tamiya's array of putty types.

I have used it (JB Weld) to not only bond but to fill gaps as well. Doesn't shape as easily as putty but for flat surfaces has worked great.

Oi, a friend of mine that's worked extensively with that thing tells me it can actually be reshaped o_O

Reshaping certainly isn't impossible, but it's probably one of your last choices if you were to pick one to work with.

Ah, I see. Yeah I can see it not being as... er, shapeable? as Putty and such indeed.

I will give you that. The problem I seem to encounter is at 11:00pm, when I am ready to continue to move forward with a project, it (JB Weld) seems to be the only thing in my work area! Poor planning on my part I realize. And when I have gone to sand or reshape I sure wish I had used something that wasn't so darn tough!

That looks cool but I'd hurt to cut a Drag Bus to do that instead of a Kool Kombi
There are drag busses out there that are easy to get and super cheap. Ruining one of them isn't all that bad.

This.

Yeah, you're just forgetting some thousands of kilometers of difference 'tween our locations  there is no thing as a cheap Drag Bus here. It doesn't exist.

What are those wheels off of? I want them. Also, destroy the chasis so the wheels don't poke half a meter from the fenders.

An Audi made by Siku was the donor. Also, I will follow your advice as soon as I get a tool for cutting them axles shorter. Wire snips aren't strong enough.

For cutting hot wheels axles? Wire snips work fine for me, I just hold them under a towel so nothing goes flying anywhere.
