Some progress, future projects and inspiration. .

Future projects!
08 Dodge Challenger-- no definite plan, but a couple ideas are bouncingcing around.

Nissan Skyline KenMeri - also not a definite plan, but it has more ideas than the Challenger. Probably end up making my ideal real world kenmeri.

Mitsubishi eclipse- this.. this is a big very involved project. I got asked to build my friends eclipse after he saw the truck. So..I have to make a roof, fill in side exhausts ports, and rear bumper cut outs, redo the hood and headlights.. yea.. fun. Oh and glass.. plus detailing.

Progress:
IMAG0606_1_zps6cd7b4f5.jpg~320x480

Remember the Tonka tanker? Cut the chassis, which is going to be stretched. Sanded the Tonka words off the side and filled in the top area, which had plastic modern detailing. The final project is more classic, so the details didn't fit.

Finally some inspiration. Not customs, but these are so cool I wanted to share. Iv even got some ideas from them. These are by an artist named Scott M Fischer. He mostly is known for doing art for children's books, Magic the Gathering cards, and Dungeons and Dragons, but apparently is a secret datusn fan too, hence these awesome pictures.

Yep, that's the one. The wheels and custom tyre on that are perfection. 👍

That works really well. 👍

Slight update on the MX-5:

Managed to do some putty work to the mirrors and front lip spoiler.

Also made an exhaust out of some aluminium tubing:

Anyway, i decided i'd start filing away at the mirrors and spoiler when disaster struck (again)....
It turns out i hadn't crushed the putty over the right hand wing mirror properly, and when filing it worked loose. Should be able to fix it with a little Gorilliglue, so not a complete disaster.

I'm really pleased with how the left mirror turned out, and the lip too, (the lip isn't broken, it's attached to the base and the Tamiya tape came undone when i was taking the pic). Also tried to file away some of the goofyness in that windscreen frame, but it didn't seem to work, so i'm considering making a removable hardtop to take some attention off it.. I'm trying to use a Honda S2000 windscreen to do the job, although it's going to take a lot of work (still undecided).

That Mercedes Limo is very popular for customs, I think Cano did one in his blog a while ago. I also have one, with the little Mercedes symbol at the front still intact.

Just a heads up in-case anybody hasn't noticed. @jtl46 (Lamley) has started doing the 'As Is The Custom' blog again. And this time it has it's own dedicated page and he's enlisted the help of two great customisers, who'll be running the show plus giving out helpful hints on doing customs etc etc.

It's a must see for all those (that are unaware) that visit this thread. So go check it out.

Honda s2000,repainted,lowered and detailed.

Ah, you reminded me I have a couple of those awaiting for attention. Might have to produce some carbon fiber decals for them.

Slight update on the MX-5:

That's looking great. Do the hardtop, it might come out pretty awesome.

So, here's what I'm working on for now.
Still trying to make windows.

Use Coke bottles for the curved glass 👍

Mine is an older Mercedes:

Wish I had one of those, though.

Thanks man. 👍 I'm going to try and finish the car as is first, and then do the hardtop at a later stage, otherwise it's going to take me forever.. (as if it doesn't already) haha!

Dude, being very honest, that Majorette Limo was one of the things that inspired me to get into this. You truly did a beautiful job on that one.
Very much this ^ 👍

@Cano (early contributor), @R1600Turbo (thread starter) and @AOS- (early contributor), are the three main key figures that have inspired me to get into this, there's plenty others that iv'e haven't mentioned too (the list would be quite long). It's probably fair to say, i draw inspiration and ideas from every single contributor to this thread. Probably my favourite thread on the whole of GTP.

 To all of you.

Anyway, slight update on the Fire chicken:

Managed to apply some putty to it the other day, to give it wheel arch spoilers and a snow plow.
Filing away.. disaster decided to strike me again (like clockwork as usual, ha), one of the rear arch spoilers decided to break off. It'll be fixable with a little glue, but it's starting to become quite annoying now, as nothing ever seems straight forward. :grumpy:

The other side however, i'm really quite pleased with how it turned out. It needs some final smoothing (may add a tiny bit of putty to the front arch/snow plow join). I'm going to try and add a roll bar in the interior and was thinking about cutting a gap in the lower body sill (both sides) for some exhausts, like the Camaro pictured behind it and similar to @R1600Turbo's awesome custom version on the previous page. Question is.. Would double exhausts (on both sides) look okay, or would it be overkill? (the ally tubing i'm going to use will be quite small diameter).

The more i think about it, the Camaro needs the same widebody treatment, should make a nice matching pair, but that'll have to wait for another time.

I see I was tagged like an alley wall.

Thank you, Nessy. I'm unsure where the cut-off date is, but I recall being a year later than the other dudes that got into modding cars.

I'm sad to say my FT job has consumed all the available time I have to mod cars.. but I'm doing what I can between photographing new arrivals, modding, photographing the mods, video games, TV, household chores, and possibly drawings. How drawings have become so low priority is the real saddening bit.

But anyway, I have 3 HWs I did some touching up on. Those 40-something cars I took apart have not moved ever since. Photos will be up soon! I'm still in the game

So you people remember the Playart Honda S600 that sweeped my pseudpoll of sorts about which car should I restore? I can't for the life of me find it, it's simply not in my boxes of projects. I don't know what happened to it.

So a slew of Z cars has been ripped appart and stripped clean. I'll post pics later on. Oddly, all of them are from different brands.

See your gonna do the Z cars, and then like a day before or right after the contest, you'll find the Honda

It will most likely happen  but I won't be able to even pop open the Honda by then. I also tore down the Playart Corona. Did I post pics of that? Let's see...

I don't think you did, but I'd like to see it. I almost bought a Corona as a first car. A wagon in fact. But it had a seized piston, and alas, I couldn't fix, nor pay to fix that.

I don't think you did

Indeed! Stupidly, I uploaded the pictures and was gonna show you all people two cars that, regardless of the results of the poll, I was gonna restore anyway, but I never posted the pics.

Here they are, this is a Tomica 240Z with the G-nose. Note the clear plastic lamps.

Both cars are already stripped down, their glass is polished and restored, their bodies have been worked over to file down the casting marks, and both have wheels already chosen for them. I'm undecided on the Corona, but I think the Z is gonna be a deep wine colour if I can find the correct paint.

One month to go.

The Z is gonna be gorgeous. That's a great casting. The Corona is great. It would look awesome with the Hot wheels 510. As for Corona color, I'm feeling something like this:

I finished painting the GTO. Sadly, the chromed parts were damaged, and I spray painted them in an effort to repair that, and that's the reason they don't look as good and shiney as can be expected. But the new tires I think look a thousand times better. Now I only need those "Judge" tampos...
