Aaaand I revisited the wheels of the Corona. It will wear these:

YES! and YES!

Are you planning on straight-up resto's, or are you going to be adding a touch of magic to them?

Well, they're gonna be mostly restos with a couple of touches to bring them to life. The Corona might end up with a small front lip. The 240 might get that too, but that one is more complex than just a piece of flat metal, I'd have to pull a you if I want to do it and make it out of epoxy. Might try it. Exhaust tips on both are a must, and maybe I'll do a rollbar on the 240, I don't remember if the interior would let me do it.

A straight-up resto would look really good, but those touches you speak of will make them really special. With regards to doing some putty stuff on the Z, that would be awesome. I would usually say start with something you're not too bothered about, but if things don't go quite according to plan, all you have to do is just file away the putty back to the metal.
Whatever you decide to do, i can't wait to see the finished result. 👍 Plenty of WIP pics too please.

No update on the MX-5 today as the weather is dreadful (was going to get it primered), but loosely on a similar subject.. the rollbar that i'd made for it came out pretty good, and i'm pleased with how the Gorilla glue held it all together, however.. I'd started to make another rollbar/rollcage for another project, and the Gorilla glue didn't fare too well. In need of a better bonding solution for the brass rod i'm using, i decided to invest in one of these:
(Gas Soldering Iron)
lrgscale78774_GT8.jpg

I'm going to give it a little test later today, just need to go and pick up some flux and a bit of solder. If anybody else here plan on using these, remember to be very careful as they have an operating temperature of between 200 - 400 degrees. 👍

That spoiler really suits that Supra, and love that hyper silver/chrome paint job on the charger. 👍

Got a slight break in the weather, so managed to lay down some primer on the MX-5. I'm fairly happy with the result and although the cast is far from perfect, i think the custom work done to it has improved it.

(Not my pics, but how the cast looked originally) :

So you laid primer? That means only a year till it's finished now right? No but for real, it looks awesome. How's the del sol going? Any progress

You've greatly overestimated there.. We're talking at least another 5 years for completion. ha!

Thanks man. 👍 The Del sol is coming along slowly but surely. One more hit with the putty and that too should be ready for primer.

Oh yea.. I forgot you do paint dot by dot..lot of toothpicks.
Wooohoo.

I actually hate the painting part of it. I much prefer the sculpting aspect of doing customs.

[EDIT]

I think i'm going to do the MX-5 in a brightish blue, probably a bit like this colour:

(Car i did ages ago in Forza 3)

An example of my very best painting capabilities:

Lol. That script on the miata is quite cool. And blue while nice, is too common, but hey that's my opinion.

@Ustad: awesome work mate, that supra is stunning, have to agree that back wing works a treat.

@Nessy: that mx5 looks awesome, can't wait for the finished result and only wish I had those crafting capabilities.

Another Try.

Did you custom made that rear wing for the Supra? If not, what was the donor car?

the MX-5.

Da-yum. If I could, I'd buy your customs in a heartbeat. Normally I would never say this because, you know, it's a custom, I could do it. But your cars always seem to be perfect, spot on, and excelently crafted. You're the only guy I've ever told something like this, so consider it a cumpliment.

I hear ya. I was convinced blue would be the way to go.. but instead i think i'm going for a yellow. May try and match the Sunburst yellow of the Eunos J-Limited.

Thank you kind sir 👍 I feel honoured to receive such a compliment from yourself.

Wish I could get one if those castings and make a "baby" fd rx7

What interior did you use? As they standard casting the steering wheel sits awfully high.

Also, what tool you use to get the screw holes in the flares?

So is gloating allowed? Just saw lamely customs. And my little green Chevy is on there. I know others have been on there many many times.. but I'm proud of myself.
@Ustad your fast and furious cars are on there too.

I actually broke the dash/center console off from the transmission tunnel (just a little glue was holding it in place), so it's not in the car in those pics. The good thing is, the wheel is just pinned into a hole, so it can be removed easily. I plan on filing down the collar of the pin so the steering wheel can sit closer to the binnacle, i'm also going to shave a bit off the center console so it sits lower once attached to the trans tunnel. Both of those things should fix the interior.

The screw holes were done with the sharp tip of a round shaped file. To be honest, they don't look that great, they're not all that detailed but that's how i wanted it. 👍

Congrats to the both of you. 👍👍

One of my cars made it on there once, it is indeed a great feeling.

Ok people, just to show you I really love you all, I'm gonna show you all a project that I'm also trying to finish for this contest.

The black one is an earlier stock version, so you can see how much has changed. Still faaaaaaaaar from done, but it's getting there.
That's amazing! Can't wait to see the finished results

Awesome! WIP, Mr C. When i first saw the pic i thought they were two different castings, it didn't click straight away that they were the same HW's Nissan Pathfinder. It's completely transformed into something way better than the original. 👍

Can you sign up to lamly? Or do they just take the awesome customs from here and post them?
Like @Nvrrespected said, Instagram is your best bet, but if you don't own a smartphone (i don't have one), then just send them an E-mail: lamleycustoms@gmail.com 👍

Well, all that's left of the original casting is that, the body, glass and part of the interior. This has been by faaar the most work-intensive custom I've ever done.

YES! I love that color!

hyper-like.
Thanks man 👍 It will probably dull slightly once i wet sand it, but i feel the colour is just right for the car.

Blue on diecast just seems to work everytime (imo). When i saw this ages ago, i thought to myself.. 'Iv'e got to do a blue car'

Awesome Renault:
