Good work. I would have touched up the scratched paint in the mean time.

JB Weld to sculpt? Never thought of that. I always viewed it as an adhesive.

Thank you AOS-!:) To be honest. I neglected to get shots of my London Taxi before i started detailing it,(except the 1st shot) so i took my brothers Taxi (which is the exact same) and made shots of it since it was original. My brother had owned it for a year while mine wasn't as old, so that kinda explains the scratches in the before shots.;)

I think I've got a few in my collection that were abused when I was a kid that could use some restoring.

The problem is i don't have the required tools to disassemble them to do it properly.

Vspec, that red 240Z pic i posted has an RB30 engine, and does the quarter in 7.86 secs. It's made by R.I.P.S (Rotorua Import Pro Shop) in New Zealand. 👍

[EDIT] Short vid of it's first ever 7 second (bracket) pass, not sure whether it's still the fastest Z in the world, but i think it's still awesome:

There's no way i'd be able to do a livery like that, so my custom will just be sympathetic to the unlivered version.. also the wheels won't be the same.

Nice! A 7.86 second 240Z, gotta love the RB30. Even though it's a exclusive Aussie and Kiwi motor based from a RB26, but this 3L engine is amazing! 👍

But I wouldn't say it's the world's fastest Z, but it a respectable candidate for the title.

Dang, that's what I call a Mopar! 👍

@Sony: Good work with your restoring on the Taxi dude. Are you planning on working on it again?

I have access to some tools. Definitely a drill, but not sure about wire cutters.

For the most part, all you will need is:

-a drill
-a wire cutter like these with a sharp tip:

Get small ones though, or you can get these kinds of nail cutters instead:

These are hella sharp and take the plastic prongs off like nothing. For castings with metal base plates, use wire cutters.

If you want to want to switch out wheels, it's ideally best to have metal tubing and a hobby file set and maybe sandpaper. If you have a dremel, you don't need the files or sandpaper all too much.

Well i didn't exactly restore it, i just gave it some details i think it should have had from the start.;) If i find another one, im thinking about painting it and giving it a awesome Taxi look, may even a wheel swap.💡 Luckly i think i saw another one of them at Kit Kringle last time i looked.:sly:

I don't have a dremel.

I'll have to look for the wire cutters, I know I have them somewhere. As for a drill, that's with my dad's toolbox.

I unfortunately don't have many tools of my own, which is disappointing.

That's fine, just use your dad's tools. I do it all the time.

If your dad has a drill, he definitely has to have some kind of wire cutter. It's a handyman thing.
:P

Honestly since I have no PC at home at the moment, it's just easier for me to have you right-click and save them from here, rather than have me email them to you.

Just tell me what photos you would be interested in having shown and I will consider them.

jtl46. Nothing to submit from me as yet, but hopefully my 240Z should be at the primer stage by the end of next week, wouldn't mind if you posted a pic of it primered (probably take me another year to paint it ).
PS, cool blog as always, checked out Ernest Li's blog too, he's done some Awesome stuff.. i see he beat me to doing the RWB aswell, it's a good job i decided to go with a 993 instead of the 994 , he's done a great job on it. 👍

No worries. PM or email me at lamleygroup@gmail.com when you have something. I would love to see it!

At 1ness or Dr. Ford? (you may have to explain that one to me), here is something jtl up above posted over at Lamley Group today. :D

Dude.... that Falcon with the Custom Camino's rocket thrusters in matte black was hella crazy. Shoulda posted that too.

Will do 👍, well.. as soon as i get around to the primer stage (taking longer than expected unfortunately).

@ MacZachen.
Cool! 240Z drag car, somebody beat me to it. Looks like i'll be take the turbo route instead.
Some nice cars in the Lamley custom section this week, but the one's that's stands out most for me, would have to be the Maverick (love the tubbed-out rear) and the Civic coupe (TEIN livery).

Just a few wheelswaps and a work in progress custom.

I actually think the whitewalls look good on this 'Vette.

But not so much on this one. :yuck:

This is freshly painted and the whitewalls were my original wheel idea for this.

BUT
This gives me goosebumps I like it so much. I am for sure sticking with these wheels.
All I have left to do is detail it, which will happen Monday. :D

The White-walls look good on the Stingray because of the white decals... it'd look even nicer if the body was red instead of orange. Regardless of that, Cragars aren't that nice on Corvettes IMO.

I like the wheels on that last one. What casting did you get them from?

I know, I thought that too! But I was worried the paint would pool in the wheels and ruin them.
The interior is going to be red as well as some accents. :D
