Type whatever you need in the font, hit the button on your keyboard labeled "PRTSC SYSRQ", open up MS Paint and paste. That should put a shot of your screen into Paint. Finally, save it as a JPG. ;)

Yep that is what i had in mind.👍 I think i can edit out everything else and have just the text itself.

Still sound tedious. Does GIMP offer layer effects such as drop shadow and outer glow?
Well i have cropped images before, i think i can pull it off.;) As for the drop shadow and the outer glow, you kind of lost me there.

If your referring to the white shadow behind the word Hamada on the hood, i can do that on word.;)

Mine is stripped already, man. I've decided on color and deco, and what custom touches I'll be adding, as well as the wheels. Now I just need to do it  but I hope it'll be ready for the 24th.

EDIT: Oh, and Ahmed is also participating, but he was having trouble finding a base car; if he doesn't by tomorrow I'll go pick one up for him assuming I still find some at my Wal Mart.

Cano just found an M3 for me, but I've been so busy I havent have time to pick up the car in Cano´s place. I hope I can finish something for the contest

As for meeeeeeee... I... have a chance to change the scope of the Lamley project completely, and go from basic track car to all out, absolutely no holds barred time attack machine with extreme aero, entire chassis and interior swap, but I don't know if the M3 is the right car to pull it off since I can apply it to, say, a Skyline GTR or even a -wicked thought- Superbird. What do you think people?

Dude come over. Remember I also got your Cadooo and your TH Lincoln (:

Sent. I left my Datsun 510 tails on there too just for the hell of it.

Yes! Thanks dude. I also have two of those waiting for my laziness to go away.

NOW GOT DARNED PEOPLE VOTE! Track car or time attack machine?

Track car for sure. TA just wouldn't work I feel like unless you cut and lowered the car on its frame similar to how SuperGT cars are.

I really want to tell you guys what I have in mind for my car, but I'm not so sure I want to. After how GTPlanet has a nice custom or two on John's favorite customs just about every week, I don't know who is reading this thread and may take my idea(s).
The only hint I feel comfortable giving as of now is that the car is going to have Dremeling done and thus heavy body modification, yet very tasteful and in no way over the top.

I actually finished my best detail ever tonight and it happens to be on the M3. Pics tomorrow.

On a separate note, it must be so nice to have actual friends to share your hobby with.
I just have you guys. :grumpy:

Hard to chose on this one Cano, but I think it would good as a time attack car IMO. With some custom fabrication to the car (similar to what Zach recommended.) It would look good.

Or a track Bluebird with a livery with yellow, green and black. Hmmmmm......:boggled:💡

No no I wouldn't lower it into it's chassis, I would swap the chassis out for something else with extreme aero, front and rear. I also have a full-race interior with cage and a gigantic wing to go with it all. I am really struggling

EDIT: While that happens, this is hatching:

Custom chassis based on a 55 Chevy gasser unit, I just mocked it up to see how it looks. And I like it. This is for the club meeting's contest where the theme is gasser trucks/wagons, so I think this fits the bill perfectly (: it'll also have a front-mount Moon tanks, stacks poking outta the hood, a custom interior, and a cool name: "Fast Groceries". And you'll all be seeing how it comes together here in GTP:

EPIC COLLAGE
New Tools, Wheels and Wheelswaps!

files.jpg

I got a new set of diamond taper files in the mail, as well as those funky flexible tripods for photos.

Then I bought myself some Nostalgia Nose Art C3500s.

"But wait, this is the customizing thread, Andy! What are you thinking by posting that here?!"

Oh I don't know. You tell me. These wheels will be out in one, two, three!

c3500+2.jpg

That's 3 size 1s and 3 size 2 steelies in my inventory now. :D

Lastly, I finished 3 wheelswaps today:

This photo doesn't show off the other detailing done.
There's enough big photos in one post so I'll save you the loading time.

athobbies: EPIC COLLAGE

I can't see the pics, altough I don't know if that's because work computer.

Also, decided against the time attack M3 because I won't have time to properly finish both the gasser Nova and the M3, and because there are better cars to pull off a Time Attack theme than an 80s brick, so I'll stick around with my initial plan.

Have you been able to see the previous pics I've posted here? Try this otherwise.

Also: Fast Groceries? What's next? Fast Cabbages?

No, because racecar.

Edit: Here's what consumed three hours of my time last night.

All that was done here at the front was the intake area.

Interestingly, the taillights were perfectly placed and needed no touching up.
I did, however, do a bit around the exhausts.
The wheels I had on it originally were PR5s that I stripped of their finish making them just the bare black plastic.
Then I painted the centers of the left wheels red and the right ones blue, just like some race cars.

I couldn't ignore the engine bay of course, so that got dolled up as well. Even a little dab of yellow for the Ferrari logo.

Okay, here is probably my best detailing job I've done to date.
If I don't find the time to finish my Lamley contest idea, this will be my sad entry.
I won't take you through everything I did, I'll just let the photos speak for themselves.

If I could add something though, I wish that for once model paint would come out smoothly.

Thank you. :D

I wanted to do that and the weather stripping along with the little gap between the hood and the base of the windshield in flat black, but I just wanted to get the damn thing done.
Another day. Never.

That is some clean ass work on the M3, Zach. It totally overshadows the 458. That the IZOD indycar wheels? Also, get some gloss on the lamps. Flat paint doesn't convey the impression of plastic. Use clear paint or clear nail polish.

As for the 458, I think light wheels would've looked nicer since all that graffiti darkens all the white on the body so now there's nothing to look at with the wheels. Maybe if the rim was bright yellow instead of red and the spokes were factory alloy gray?

Also. I think I just thought of something for the M3. And it's going to be even better than a USB Drive encasing.

Nice job McZachen!👍 If you do plan on entering that, i think you have a good place to start there.:)

Which reminds me, i have detail job i need post sometime.;)

As soon as my boss gets a vacuum bench for his screen printing business, i should easily be able to make white decals. And surprisingly, the cost of the bench and costs involved in producing the decals (screens, inks etc etc), should be a whole lot cheaper than trying to get hold of a laser or micro-dry printer. :)

Found some inspiration for your 240Z project. 👍

May I say this 240Z is a pure badass car that could eat a 2g Camaro Z28 :sly:👍?

Look at that intercooler, I like it. If I was building a real 240Z, I would take some pros from this car. 👍

Not the intercooler per sé, but the fact that the car is turbocharged. Keeping the stock I-6 in these things and modifying it while keeping it N/A will result in about 250 hp with a fairly radical cam profile and carburetor tuning, barely streetable. The fact that this car is turbo means it probably pushes close to 300, or that it might even have an engine swap. Who knows what lurks under the hood now and how much power the thing makes.

Of course, there are several V8-swapped Z30s out there too with no intercooler to be found, the only way to spot them is the tell-tale sound.

Yup. Turbocharging an L-series engine isn't as reliable and won't make you as much power as a more modern engine.

Anyway, the bodywork on the M3 is done. Opened the front bumper for an intercooler, and made some space for an exhaust tip. Also, the chassiss can now house the wheels no problem. I only need to paint it now. Still deciding on the color. Ideas? Street car, no race cars please.

Go for a violet.

I could paint mine, but I'll likely keep it with a bare zamac finish for the purpose of longevity. I don't expect mine to be first place, but I'd be happy enough to make top 10 and even more proud to make top 5.
