How I USED to make 5,000,000 credits/hour through Custom Races... using a Fiat. But not anymore.

There is one thing in that whole discussion I still don't understand:

People complain about the usual high payout grinding races and say it is too boring, to do them over and over again.
...and instead they do/did those expolit-custom races, that are way more boring than a 700PP at Le Mans or the Tokyo 600PP event ever can be...?

I remember when I first read about that Fiat/Tomahawk exploit , I was thinking "nice, that someone figured that out...but why would somebody actually do somethimg stupid like that for an hour...what could possibly be more boring...?"

For me it was a good AFK method while I played other games

That's what happens when money is the motivation as opposed to the driving experience.

But grind races aren't typically that fun either way.

Because this is something you don't actually have to do ... you can just press the start button. Put some rubber band on your controller and walk away. And when you actually want to play the game you don't have to do the grind races anymore.

I don't know if this is only for me, but has anyone actually managed to start a custom race with a "!" PP rating? When I try it, it says my car is in violation of regulations or something similar.

Possibly PD's failsafe?
I think I did, but now I checked again and my Abarth doesn't have the ! rating anymore, so I'm not completely sure. Don't know why it disappeared and now has a normal PP rating.

Well the payout was double and they can do it AFK.

I must admit, I really like the Le Mans 700PP grind...it's like the Test Track for me for new cars...whenever I get a new car that is tuneable to approximately 700PP I try them out on that race and see how it goes...turning road cars into customized racers is one of my main passions in this game, and that race is just perfect to see their potentials and compare them too each other

I like it too. But you know what would be better? If not only La Sarthe, or Spa would have this payout. But if all the tracks on the WTC700/800/900 would have this payout, so you could actually have some variety.

Controversial post ahead.

But I'm glad this glitch/exploit is dead cause exploits like this only give those lazy players that would have never put in the effort a easy way to large amounts of credits.

Anyway bring on the poo emoji.
I guess it depends on your viewpoint, I can see both sides.

I utilised this exploit, but mainly because the way I wish to play the game is online lobbies with friends, messing about, tuning cars and not necessarily doing races. As such my normal play style yields very little income. Why should I be penalised and have no access to the more expensive cars in the game, purely because I don't wish to run the exact same race over and over again when I actually get some seat time?

This exploit allowed me to amass credits whilst I did my day job, so I can spend my gaming time playing the game, rather than 'working' in GT7.

I work to live, not live to work. I can't afford a McLaren F1 in real life, I don't want to be reminded of that fact when I try to play GT7 either.

Well, I've made ~150M Cr with the glitch, and I'm 100M Cr short if I want to buy the 12 remaining legendary cars I want.
I also want to complete my dealership car collection, with around 20M worth of them remaining, mainly VGTs.
But I'm somewhat relieved that they patched the thing, because I'm the kind of guy who cannot keep himself "grinding" or "exploiting" the game when it's possible instead of playing and enjoying it.
So well, I hope you guys have enjoyed this ride!

My take is that reacting with that same emoji to everyone who says the exploit is helpful because they dare to have a life outside of GT invalidates your point.

Sorry, I have a girlfriend. I have better things to do than spend 15 odd hours doing one event to afford one car.

Maybe one day you'll understand.

Literally made an account just now to drop some salvation.

1: Do you have a Jeep with no swap? Fully upgrade it (no swap) and buy RS tyres, nitrous, ballast, and the power restrictor.

2: Tune the Jeep for Bathurst
Ride height 175/175mm
ARB 10/10
Dampers compression 35/35
Dampers expansion 45/45
Frequency 3.00/3.15 Hz
Camber 3.0/3.0
Toe 0 out/0.3 in

Initial torque 10/5
Acc sensitivity 20/20
Brake sensitivity 10/60
Torque distribution 40/60 (preference)

1st gear 1.881
2nd gear 1.424
3rd gear 1.126
4th gear 0.936
Final 3.288

Nitrous 100

This is Setup A.

3: Make a new setup sheet. This is Setup B.

4: In Setup B,
  • switch to CH tyres
  • remove all the parts except the FC differential, the torque-vectoring differential, and the FC computer
  • Lower the ECU and power restrictor to 70, and add 200kg ballast at 50 rear. This gets the Jeep down to 138.62PP.
5: Open a custom race at Mount Panorama for 5 laps with your nerfed Tomohawks and 10x nitrous multiplier. PROTIP: turn off tyre wear and fuel use - you're faster without them. The payout is 279,300.

6: Once you're in, go to Car Settings and switch from Setup B to Setup A. THE PAYOUT DOES NOT CHANGE. IT ONLY CHANGES WHEN YOU CLICK ON "START RACE" IN RACE SETTINGS.

7: Begin the race.

8: ???

9: 2.2 MILLY AN HOUR!!!!

Happy Season 4 GIF by The Simpsons

This. If I didn't do this grind AFK, I wouldn't be playing this game anymore. I'm not 17 anymore. I have a wife, 2 kids, a job, my play time is as little as 2 hours a week at most!

It would take me nearly 5 actual real life years to get to the same amount of assets.

My only regret is that I didn't get another 50m

Money is quite scarce again. So you'd better tell the truth ;P

Thanks mate.

You’d have a point if payouts were reasonable for “normal” races, but they’re not.

The economy is still **** and PD does not care one bit as long as people are stupid enough to buy credits off of PlayStation Store, which is why they “fixed” this bug.

Some random thoughts that may be worth looking in to.

Also, does the game recalculate the winnings upon race start? Enter the race with a low PP setup, and the pre-race view with the grid and payouts etc. is loaded. Do these payouts update if you then change your PP? I'd be surprised if they get recalculated given how seemingly lacklustre PD are with their coding...?

In essence could you nerf your PP with comfort hards and so on, enter the race to get the grid / payouts etc., then switch setup to a much higher PP without triggering a payout recalculation?

Called it. PD's software development. Never fails to fail.

This is all getting pretty silly now. Well, more silly.

I think we've run the course of the rights and wrongs of it all and are now wildly diverting into who has the best social life - for which there is absolutely no need.

Time for a break, while everyone goes out and stretches their legs for a bit. When this thread is unlocked again, if you don't have anything useful to add, don't add anything.

Edit: 90 posts deleted

Dumb And Dumber Crying GIF
Sadness …
What? Spa24 hour one hour race Is 1.5million with a clean race bonus, still the best payout mechanism in the game.

Honestly speaking, people play this game however they want. I haven’t logged this many hours into the game since September of last year, Now I just play it daily to get my 29 miles for that roulette tickets and that’s it. I never did the AFK method though, I always raced in the game, at least that was fun for me. lol

The best thing left over from this is just how faster i can get to 29 miles LOL

Well, I only made 80M in credits, but I really didn't try too hard to build up my bank account. Fortunately, I already own every car in the game and I'm not one of those people who needs to create a whole grid of the same 20M credit car with all different liveries.
