How is Assetto Corsa to play?

For that price you can pick up something between an Nvidia 750Ti to an AMD HD7850. Newegg were selling some HD7850's for $120 but are out of stock. You can still pick up used ones on Amazon for $100, and they were one of the best overclocking cards out there as well as price/performance ratio, which is why I bought one some time back.

Essentially it's pretty much the same GPU as what's in the PS4 right now with most cards being able to overclock by 30-40% with ease (from 1.8Tf to 2.4Tf).

Still undecided whether should upgrade to GTX 750 Ti even though it's reasonable price or just wait for a bit longer or save this towards my PS4 :P

Appreciate if someone with similar configure can advise whether upgrading GTX 750 Ti this will allow me to max AC with at least constant 60fps minimum on average?

Hi guys after a bit of advice...

My PS3 has died (YLOD) :(, after a week without it, I got my PS2 out and put GT3 on, to my shock I realised how much more of a challenge GT3 is to GT6 (no golding licences on my first go, better AI), seeing how much PD has gone backwards has left a bit of a bad taste, and now I've decided not to bother replacing the PS3 and switching to Assetto Corsa and purchasing a PC instead..
Now, I know nothing of PC's and I don't really have a lot of cash, I have seen these systems (Link), and am wondering if Assetto would work reasonable on it, or at least till I could afford a better graphics card.

I've checked the minimum and preferred specs for AC, but to be honest I just can't figure it out...

Thanks in advance :gtpflag:...

Maybe some of you can help me, I've no idea about PC's, my PC specs are CPU i7 930 @ 2.80 GHz | Mobo ASUS P6X58D Premium | RAM 6 GB DDR3 | GPU ATI Radeon HD 5870, I can run AC at 50~60 FPS with medium graphic settings (only doing TT's in a single screen 1920x1080), but the GPU consumes a lot and is very noisy, I'm thinking in upgrade the GPU to a GTX760.

Can be this graphic card installed in this motherboard?
Will I notice a big improvement in FPS?

This thread is probably derailing a bit too much into hardware talk, and away from gameplay which was it's origin. I might have opened the door on that. :guilty:

I created a general hardware questions thread: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/pc-hardware-how-will-ac-run.316132/, so this thread can continue to be about gameplay.

@jonjig and @eclipsee, could you perhaps copy your questions over there (or have a mod do it), and we will do our best to help out? Sorry if I'm playing forum police now. :)

Alrighty so back on topic on "how is AC to play?". The latest update 0.22 is out and to all AC owners, it's definitely worth waiting for after Kunos having a month off.

0.22

- In-game apps must now be enabled in the game's launcher under Options > General
- Added new car Mercedes SLS

- Added Python camera control
- Fixed tyres jittering at low speeds
- Fixed missing wheels when AI car brake its engine and goes to pits
- Physics related rules : now cars must respect their defined set of rules in order to run on the track
- Track cameras now place the car in the middle of the screen
- Post Process App selector : fixed loading of default ppEffects.ini
- AI improvements
- Improved Drag AI
- Skidmarks are now disabled when setting World Detail to minimum
- Dynamic track randomness now less pronounced

It's absolutely a blast driving around in a Ferrari 458 Italia with this update. The tyres feel less like it's punctured lol and personally the FFB is much smoother and refined. If you haven't already driven this Ferrari in the game, you ought to do so as the handling is absolutely amazing not to mention the engine sound is unbelievably good.

Now all that I need is a great street circuit like Macau and I can hot lap this track with this AC iteration forever. :D

P.S. AC isn't even close to a finished product. Have high hopes of things getting even better.

There's a decent Macau mod out there. Google should be able to find it for you. :)

Can't wait to try the update, sounds good.

This game is turning into everything I've ever wanted in a sim, can't wait until the Oculus Rift is officially released and to play this on it. When I'm playing it, I really am as happy as a pig in s...

Yeah same here and it was going nuts on the screen.
AC crashed even without it running and after a mini update

I contacted the guy who created this on AC forum and he needs proof of purchase Race07 because it is deemed illegal as his version is a Race07 port. PM please if you know where the this version is. Looks different from the AC one forum link I posted

Nurburgring Sprint...is that Nurburgring GP/D?

Great, now I can see, for a fact, how bad I am .....lol. But for real, thanks for this I has no idea it existed, will download today.

The 0.22 update changed how "aggressive" the regaining of grip is after sliding. It made exiting drifts a bit easier (more forgiving). Professional drifters who were previously complaining on the AC forums have now started making very positive noises and no longer referring to LFS as the best drifting sim out there....

It's highly addictive to grab a good driftable car like the SLS or 1M and emulate Chris Harris going sideways round every corner. And unlike certain tail-happy console games (cough*Forza*cough) you can easily keep these cars under control or you can choose to initiate a slide and have fun. It seems like they are in a very good place now.

I suck at catching slides in games for some reason. In Assetto Corsa I find that the car snaps back the other way too intensely. I haven't tried the new update though.

Is Simvibe working in Assetto Corsa now?

Yeah. This is a good update. I was even throwing the 312T around.

Saw some people had mixed opinions on whether there were still T500 issues with this game, but that whole 180 snap issue seems to be addressed a lot (if not all the way). At least for me. I think. Kind of addicted to the DK2 at the moment, but had to check out the new update. Quick impressions are it's addressed.

Same here. I was just tossing the 458 around a bit. Great feeling! And then I took 10 rounds around Nur GP with the Z4 GT3. That car was also a lot easier to catch when starting to slide. Seriously, the FFB feels just incredible now (T500). :)

I was wondering about that issue, I started playing a few weeks ago and wasn't sure if the update addressed this or I was getting better, ha.....definitely the update.

And it's not just the snapback that's fixed either. Somehow the cars feel even more connected to the surface than before. Bumps, kerbs, suspension, it all feels better. Very excited for the future of this title.

i'm thinking of pulling the trigger on AC after reading this thread........i'm a big LFS hore LOL. How close is this game to LFS physics?

I now play AC only as a drift sim (RRRE took over the racing part). It has no competition is this department. No matter how many times I did it, I always have a big grin after pulling a great long drift. Sure the SLS is fun, but going sideways in a drift-spec BMWs is a whole new deal.

I mostly play with E89 Z4 on 100% boost. I've even switched my TH8RS into sequential mode for the handbrake activation, it is that awesome. I'm already thinking to change the knob into something more cylindrical shaped, rounded knob doesn't feel right.

Drifting in AC is a hidden gem and provides just as much fun, if not more, than regular racing.

What package do you own in RRE? I have the free version and dont like it.

ADAC GT and some other tracks. AC lacks in GT3 multibrand racing and this is where RRE comes in. But after a stressful race or two, it's always good to come back to AC for some drift, I find it somewhat relaxing.
