How is Assetto Corsa to play?

ADAC GT and some other tracks. AC lacks in GT3 multibrand racing and this is where RRE comes in. But after a stressful race or two, it's always good to come back to AC for some drift, I find it somewhat relaxing.

I tried the free steam version but did not liked it. Maybe because there was only one track.

It just had a major update, including new track surface modeling and improved FFB. I've not had a chance to try it since the update.

I agree with you on how it was before the update: I own every single game Simbin ever made until R3E but really didn't like the R3E demo content, and was never tempted to purchase more content once I'd experienced AC.

Yesterday I´ve seen that you can play the online competitions without owning the content (dont know if it is Germany exclusive?). So there was Bathurst and Zandvoort you can play. Will check it out today. Cause I am close the buy the ADAC GT Masters Pack.

AC is awesome no question but it bores me to hotlap all day. I need an championship or a career mode that motivates me.

One has written i saw, that is not that much of a simulation.

Well this might be my first post here since i am NEW to this forum :) so hi to all o/ and althought it might not be good the way i will start hehe but that comment is complete NONSENSE

Assetto Corsa is the best simulation i have driven so far now and NOW there are around 250 replies to this post of which i think the creator already got an opinion for the simulation and mine won't make much difference, but comments like some above that AC is not really good or even comparing to an Forza is rubbish.

I say whoever have to spend 30$ (and its not even that much) to spend on Assetto Corsa without second thought.

It's cheap, it's on Steam, it will increase you socially among those who are passionate about sim-racing also. Its a simulation where you have laser-scanned tracks, other place where you will see that or receive is in iRacing.
It's in constant improvement and it will get only better and better.

And as far i know, AC is exclusively playing online if you have the original. Even if you don't have it or don't need to have it - it's worth it

wow, passionate about proper simulations AND also a fellow Macedonian........I'm going to have to buy AC now:cheers:

You're macedonian?
You are or you are not, doesn't matter. Assetto Corsa connected me with many sim racers with whom i talk daily and share experience, videos, we talk about things, we create our races and having to put that aside all of that, AC itself is a great simulation. I don't see rF2 as equal or iRacing at anything better except online driving. Everything else AC wins.

Having to spend only 1000 denars or 30$ it's nothing.

Really, if one has a system powerful enough to run the game, the extra $30 is peanuts. For me it's worth every penny even if they did nothing with the game from this point forward and never released a full game (I'll wash my mouth out with soap later:lol:) the driving experience is that much fun and engaging. I don't really enjoy hotlapping most of the time unless tuning or preparing for a race, but so far that's all I've done in AC except for one online race and I am enjoying the heck out of it and I've only really explored a half dozen cars in 2 months!

Same here, and races with the AI, I haven't even touched multiplayer yet. I haven't enjoyed hotlapping or hooning around in any other game.

By the way, check your inbox if you haven't already.

The game is great! And guys, what do you expect? It not even 1.0 released. They are working on it very good and released a lot of cars. Also now the Audi R8 is on its way plus Toyota LMP1. And each of these cars is created with laser technology with licenses given from the manufacturers and testing them on real circuit then creating the car for the game. Even if they did not i couldnt get enough of Ferrari Italia 458 its awesome! Drifting it around the corners etc gives me big pleasure and sense of the real deal. You control the car. You do whatever you want to do with her except if you pass that red line and you are lost! Thats simulation!

Yes i am, i just have lived in Australia for 95 % of my life Lol Just a quick question though...is there online racing available or is multiplayer (a LAN type of setup?) the only option?

Don't get me wrong dude, there is a lot of like you living outside and one of them is my cousin who from 2002 is in US, and you say you have lived 95% outside of Macedonia which is much and yet you say you are macedonian :)

There is online racing available of course, Steam like you do know i assume, connects you via their servers which are almost like a lan connection and its all good and stable.

However there are Lotus, Mclaren, Mercedes, Ferrari, Classic Lotus, Pagani Zonda and Huyara, BMW and of course of all that i mentioned there are another models from them like Ferrari Italia Ferrari F50 and the rest, for example 10 types of Lotus you have and about 10 laser scanned circuits.

Now you might get the Ferrari 458 Italia and you wont have enough of it even if you drive it one month with it only :) thats how much fun is Assetto Corsa, real and good.

Just check my channel where you can subscribe and you can see a lot of videos that i have uploaded recently and in the past year with Assetto Corsa.

i was born in Bitola.....came to Oz when i was 2 years old. the fact there are not many cars (compared gt or fm) doesn't bother me, i race LFS with my cousins and love it for its pure physics.....having real cars in AC with proper physics would be icing on the cake!

ok! Played AC (finally threw the money down) for about 2 hours sharing wheel time (g27) with my cousin. First physics impressions driving 1M all assist off except ABS........Engaging!

OVERSTEER: Power oversteer feels good, lift off oversteer is good, scando flicks feel natural, holding drifts was difficult but this i accept is just me getting used to the car and track (gearing/entry speed/lines)

UNDERSTEER: AC has a FM4 vibe with regards to ABS heavy braking understeer ie car rocks side to side or has a skipping motion which i find a little exaggerated (prefer LFS). normal understeer feels good.

BRAKING: ok

problems i had.............i couldn't do a burnout on the brake (kept pushing front tires). The throttle pick up was a bit peaky , just 20% would would make it hit limiter (maybe a settings thing). Also slamming 2nd gear in a massive clutch kick going straight, would just make it chirp instead of lay black lines for 20 meters.

but overall very promising........after only 2 hours on only vallelunga short. LOL

Yes, even with wheels like the DFGT. Feels good.

Compared to GT6. Assetto Corsa gives so much more feedback, I feel like every bump, and loss of traction. Great sensation. GT6 just feels dull when I tried it. No feeling. havnt tried P:Cars yet. *the wait till it comes out*

Question for the moderators.

If I've downloaded a car mod and significantly changed the car myself for my own personal enjoyment, am I allowed to share that car with the community here? I'm expecting a "No" as I don't exactly have the permission from the original creators of the car, but thouht I'd ask as it's common to see people downloading and recommending converted cars that didn't have permission in the first place.

Would like to share a couple of cars that I've adjusted. Example.

Edit: Just noticed I posted this in the wrong thread.

Hi guys after a bit of advice...

My PS3 has died (YLOD) :(, after a week without it, I got my PS2 out and put GT3 on, to my shock I realised how much more of a challenge GT3 is to GT6 (no golding licences on my first go, better AI), seeing how much PD has gone backwards has left a bit of a bad taste, and now I've decided not to bother replacing the PS3 and switching to Assetto Corsa and purchasing a PC instead..
Now, I know nothing of PC's and I don't really have a lot of cash, I have seen these systems (Link), and am wondering if Assetto would work reasonable on it, or at least till I could afford a better graphics card.

I've checked the minimum and preferred specs for AC, but to be honest I just can't figure it out...

Thanks in advance :gtpflag:...
Hi jonjig, this is bungle here (used to race with you on gt6 with robzerio) I switced to assetto now and loving it, pm me dude if you haven't sorted something already I'll spec u up a good budget system, what part of the world are you from?

Also the machine you are looking at is not bad it would have to be played on low settings most probably as its an apu, and the equivalent or a AMD HD 6670 gpu which is good for a card built into a cpu also you can buy another HD 6670/7750 graphics card and it will enable hybrid crossfire mode which actually gives really good results. The thing to consider is that for this system to perform well it needs very fast ram as it will be used as GDDR memory. So ask the seller what speed the ram is needs to be 24000 mhz ideally.

I saw my presents...and it isn't even my birthday:cheers: Thanks, I'll try and give them a spin tonight or tomorrow on my G27. They looked great in the videos:tup:👍

You mean 2400 mhz ram? I'm not a hardware expert, but I've been told many times now that the ram speed has very little effect on performance. Is that not true? Can you point me to some benchmarks or something?

Video card prices are dropping like a stone with the release of the NVidia 970/980 series. Better Radeon cards are dropping up to 40% in price, maybe more. http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/pricedrop/

It has little impact on GAMING performance, 1600 Mhz is enough IMO, even 1333 Mhz is plenty. Go nuts and buy high end i7 and high speed ram if you are building a crazy quad SLI, CF system.

Your quite right. The difference here is that the processor and ram are combined into the chip meaning there's no on board graphical memory which usually consists of ddr5 currently.

Also I wouldn't recommend this system but for an extreme budget rig it might just do the job.

Hi all, possibly going to buy a PC today so I can enjoy AC in real as much as I have been reading. Might be a simple/daft question but would I just need to go on AC store, purchase & download to PC? (cannot see a disc version on Amazon for e.g.) I live in the UK & also a complete PC newbie. Cheers guys.

Yeah. If you haven't been a PC gamer in a while, brick & mortar is pretty much a relic. Almost every game you buy is download exclusive these days. The cool thing, at least with things on Steam and such, is they generally go on sale VERY cheaply throughout the year.

Even a game like pCars, even though you can order a disc version, it's just an early download version. It'll still need to be installed/run through Steam. The disc by itself is worthless. You're mostly just paying for the serial code.

Been trying AC for about a week, clocking some 7 hours. Still waiting on a new PC so currently running 20 fps at most. But can still feel the difference while driving. And wow I'm surprised how much easier than gt it is. Physics feels so much more predictable in a way. Mostly running GT3 cars so far for reference.

Put a couple of hours into the new Career mode. It's pretty good, though the difficulty and AI is a super odd... also.. they still havn't worked on getting the controller support much better than it has been in previous versions...

idk I come and go on this game, I think that when they get the pad support and default setup properly tuned and they have a better auto gear box (becasue f trying to use manual gears on a controller) I'd probably fall in love with this game.
It runs great on my pretty meh and old-ass machine and looks awesome! I enjoy the car physics, it's just a joy to spend a few hours blasting about in any car!

Last night 2 friends and I were messing around with the Exos at Mugello. We were going back and forth double passing on the straight, 3 wide at T1 at one point! We went 2 wide there lap after lap and it was intense. Perfect track for that car.

I've been loving this game since I purchased it last week after hearing about the pCars delay. Also I was highly influenced by players raving about how amazing a job the developers did with the physics engine. I had a big smile while hot lapping the Z4 GT3 around the Nurburgring GP track in Career mode. I don't know how many times I've been able to throw down ever decreasing laptimes (five in a row!) in GT6 as easily as I was able to in AC. The sound and graphics on my 2 year old Alienware laptop are also stellar. The gearbox sounds are super rad in the GT3 cars.

As a sidenote, I have been playing Simraceway for over a year and as amazing as it is to drive some of the cars (the GT40 is awesome!) it can't compete with AC due to the archaic graphics engine and piecemeal game design. But more than anything it's the lack of players in multiplayer rooms that finally made me decide to give AC a go. That said I really hope AC gets some of the tracks that Simraceway boasts: Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio and Zandvoort are fantastic tracks.
