How many truly new tracks will there be?

As track list comes second only to physics in my "sim" priorities, I've been trying to work out how many truly new tracks GT6 will have. Reading/watching the announcement left me a little bewildered - not sure if Polyphony are horrible at PR or they like to be overly ambiguous on purpose, but either way I can't work out how many new tracks we are getting.

Has anyone out there deciphered the "7 new locations" comments? Does it include previous DLC (ie. Spa, Motegi etc.)? I'd just like to know how many tracks will feature in GT6 that have never been in a GT game before.

Cheers.

Three seems to be the answer unless some of the GT5 DLC tracks don't carry over. If that is true it's extremely disappointing and my hat certainly hasn't fallen off.

Silverstone and Bathurst are confirmed, Brands Hatch is the third if a leaflet is confirmed genuine.

The press-release says... "33 Locations and 71 layouts will be provided from day 1 (7 more locations and 19 more layouts than GT5)"

Now, it depends on how you count the locations, and if the DLC is considered as original GT5 content, but the way I count it, we already have 29 or 30 locations (depending if you count SSR5 and SSR7 as one location) including DLC.

So, the 33-7=26 locations from GT5 are clearly what was there in the original game at release.

Added DLC was: Spa, Kart Space, Motegi, SSRX

Now add Silverstone as confirmed and there are 2 or 3 locations to be additionally included. (Brands Hatch could be a hoax, Bathurst and Willow Springs are the other real life "candidates")

Personally, I think they will rather include some original tracks from past GT-games and other real life tracks will be DLC after GT6-release.

Hmmmmm, Seattle. I just wonder what it'd be like trying to battle around Seattle with 15 other cars. :sly: I remember the number of walls. Passing is often forcefully disallowed by walls.

By the way, the number of layouts in the original GT5 was exactly 52 without DLC.

DLC brought 8 layouts, so we're holding at 60. 3 additional layouts are already confirmed for Silverstone (Grand Prix, International, National Circuits).

So, that would leave 2 locations with 8 layouts unknown. (the additional layouts could also be for existing locations)

Silverstone, Bathurst, SSR11, Seattle (probably?).

About the DLC, perhaps they will be carried over from GT5? So if you bought Spa for GT5, you'll get it in GT6 and if you didn't you'll have to purchase the DLC to get it. And that's why it's not counted in the number of tracks/locations, because it's optional content and not included in the actual game?

Same thing could be the deal with DLC cars and special cars like chromelines, stealths etc. That would explain why the "7 new locations" and "200 new cars" doesn't add up with the total number of tracks and cars in GT5. That would also make the "every car from GT5 will be in GT6" possible, without actually giving those special deal cars to everyone.

If GT5 DLC was still DLC for GT6 that would be an incredibly poor move.

I can understand the limited cars, like chromelines and stealths, because those were parts of certain deals and I don't think they should be available to everyone.

For the DLC it does sound like a poor move (if that is indeed the case - we have no idea). It's a lot of speculation right now...

We still don't know wether or not all GT5 tracks will be carried over to GT6, do we? What if some of the crappy looking 'Standard' tracks (Trial Mountain springs to mind) will be swapped for a revamped classic track like Apricot Hill (which we saw in the Acura NSX trailer IIRC)?

We do.

All of the cars and tracks from Gran Turismo®5, which has sold over 10m copies since launching in 2010, will be retained in GT6.

See this post I just made - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=8478622#post8478622

I think they meant 7 new tracks aside from GT5's dlc .

So Seattle,Apricot,Silverstone,Brands hatch,Bathurst,SSR11 and Willow SPrings .

If not then appaling move by PD

Oh, bummer. I forgot about that statement.

Still, why does the flyer mention 'Classic GT courses'? Since we now know that only SSR11 will be a new classic course. What do you think will happen to the Apricot Hill NSX-version?

If they add the old GT2 Rome Circuit (+ the Rome Short variation), they can get away with that ("Classic GT courses included by popular demand"), without adding a new "location". This is just my speculation, though. A portion of the old Rome Circuit is shared with the GT5 version.

They could add Rome Night, though it's fictional and doesn't share sections with those two... I kinda liked the overall layout of the course, and it wouldn't need a new location because it was also 'Rome' in some way.

However, they seem to have forgotten the GT2 courses... at least the original Rome Circuit or the one from GT5.

The way I understood it was that all track from GT5, including DLC tracks, will be included, plus 7 new tracks. If that's not the case, then that's just another BS marketing stunt by PD. Don't make me not like you PD...

I did some research some time back and I concluded that the Rome Night track layout was actually loosely based on some of the existing roads around Rome Circuit:

However in real life they would have to take down some buildings (highlighted by red boxes)

Well, I don't think they are planning to build the course on real life anyway.

Can I use those pictures to share this interesting information with a foreign forum? I think they'd like to see it.

This will be a very heavily DLC-based game. You'll get a few tracks at launch to peak the interest, and quite a few new cars, but if you want more tracks and cars you'll have to pay for them. You'll be paying for Bathurst and any other major track release, along with new cars, new locations for the track editor etc. Expect to shell out close to the full original game price in the first year if you want to be up to date.

I really hope the above isn't true.

It's not so much I don't want to pay for tracks, it's that I don't want to wait even longer for them. Plus, when I remember back to the grand DLC promises of Gran Turismo 5, I can't help but feel a sense of impending deja vu.

Exactly my thoughts. It's great that PD wants to give more content, I would be okay with that. What I do worry about, though, is their consistency.

Maybe they've learnt their lesson in regards to making "politician-like" promises. I sure hope so.

I would like to know how many months after release they plan to keep the whole "one DLC track a month" shtick going for.

GT6 is going to potentially show up with only 3 new tracks and people are already getting excited at future DLC ones ??

Aren't you worried by the apparent lack of actually new content at release?

I'm hoping real world tracks only, Sebring, Road Atlanta, COTA although i know none of those have a chance. I've never been a fan of PD's original tracks, none. It always feels like a chore to get them over with so i could move on to Monza, Suzuka, Daytona road course, Nurburgring GP and La Sarthe.

I'd say it's more a case of everybody getting worried about something none of us knows for sure.

I'm sure clarification from PD/Sony will arrive at some point.

Yes. That figure is very disappointing if it holds true. Of course I don't want to pay for more content who does?

It's confusing at this point what was meant with the "7 new locations" statement. Something is up with that figure for sure.
