How NASCAR Will Fare?

Shows how much harder it is to drive an F1 car than a NASCAR.
... not really. The huge amount of passing in NASCAR comes down to the drivers being able to slipstream just about 100% of the time and the design of the stockcars. That's not to say an F1 car is easy to drive, though.

Daytona was alot of fun in GT5P so i am actually quite excited. First great game with Daytona tracks since Daytona USA in the arcades lol.

God, I LOVED Daytona USA when I was little. I would play it when I was 2 or 3 and I'd have to lay down on the seat just to reach the petals and I'd still win. I used to get crowds of people watching me, good times.

How the COTs will fare against other cars would depend on what are they racing on. If its a road course, then there is a good chance it'll be left behind by pretty much every race made for road racing. Superspeedway Ovals, I would think maybe it could have a chance(although the indycars might be abit faster) if they run unrestricted.

Maybe this will show you how hard F1 cars are to drive.

In the end, how do we really know how hard or easy driving either of the two is? The only true way to tell is to drive the actual car themselves. Unfortunately, it seems alot easier to do that with the stock car as I haven't exactly seen a Schumacher driving experience.

Despite not being a fan of the sport and having no interest in watching it, this license is the one that excites me the most for this game just becuase I finally get the chance to run some comparison tests and I sort of expect what some cars will handle like at Monaco, etc, but a NASCAR I have no idea what to expect. I will probably be buying/winning one of these cars first before anything else just to find out.

I look forward to online battles in future to settle the arguments over speed 👍 I'm interested in a Group C versus NASCAR battle :sly:

Well for one look at the difference of speed. If you think the speeds of a NASCAR and an F1 car are comparable you are delirious. Let's look at lateral G's as well. Yes the oval racing in a NASCAR is demanding. But that force is constant in one direction. In and F1 those forces are constantly moving from one side to another and are greater on the body at time because of the speed the driver takes the turn. Personally I've always thought road racing was harder than oval racing in general.
And of course it's easier to get to drive a stock car than a formula car. Stock cars are pretty cheap and easy to put together compared to the Formula 1 cars. Letting a novice drive one of those things (F1) and them watching them crash it isn't very good on the pocket book.

I'm not terribly thrilled with the inclusion of NASCAR, simply because I hate oval races in games. It takes skill, skill which I dont have and have no interest in learning. I've always hated games that force me into NASCAR style races, and usually just try and smash the AI cars off the track to get ahead so I dont have to actually "race" them and can just get on with the rest of the game :P

I hate getting a bit behind and seeing the lead car pull away and feeling there's nothing I can do about it, or missing a slipstream and having the field pull away from me. In regular track racing if this happens I just get aggressive and try and catch up, if I dont, I have a good time trying anyway. Oval races you see the lead car pull a bit ahead and you know you have no chance of catching them regardless of how hard you try.

That's not to say I dislike it as a motorsport, its fun to watch sometimes, I just dont want it in a game. But I understand other people might want it there, so whatever :P

Where exactly have I said the speeds were comparable? Also, does that take into account weight and setup? I still say its ludacrous to say its easy with no real seat time at all. Sure they aren't as fast and don't have the amount of lateral Gs on a regular bases, but your just using observatory facts, not actual experience behind the wheel(taking into account variables that only happen behind the wheel and not in the notebook), which is why I question that. I respect what your trying to say, I just look at a driver like Villenueve and find that very hard to believe.

Can't really say Villenueve was a "star" of F1....he never impressed outside of the FW18 and 19.
Montoya was good but a little chaotic.

Neither shining examples of the best of the best, not like saying Alonso couldn't cut it is it?

They are just examples of how "easy" NASCAR has been since they have been in it.

Yup. Montoya has never reall done well, and Villeneuve is stuck in the busch league (well, i guess i should say nationwide).

I never said driving a NASCAR was easy. Trying to manhandle a 3,500lb brick isn't what I call a Sunday drive. I just think people over hype the difficulty of driving a NASCAR. It's hard but not THAT hard.

Montoya's biggest improvement for this year is that he stopped crashing

How about that Scott Speed

32nd finish in today's race (only beat 3 cars that didn't crash), 35th in points

And before the season he was mouthing off about how easy it was to find the limit in a stock car compared to a F1 car. I guess he should raise the "limit" to improve his results. Larry McReynolds said "he talked the talk now he needs to walk the walk" and he hasn't

What exactly is a "NASCAR"? NASCAR is a sanctioning body which oversees many groups of racing, making it a proper noun. It's 3 primary are Camping World Truck Series, Nationwide Series, and it's premier class is Sprint Cup with the commonly called "COT". COT refers to Car of Tomorrow, which is now the Crap of Today.

So are you talking about driving a Cup car, NW car, or a CW truck?

agreed, haha....
but i dont get why PD would choose NASCAR over something like ALMS or the LeMans Series in Europe, because NASCAR is something that is (for the most part) only popular in the US, and lets not forget that this is a game that is played all across the world... so a series like Formula 1 or ALMS would be much more popular worldwide....
I personally dont get NASCAR in first place, so this is even harder to understand for me...

Maybe because Gran Turismo sales have plummeted more then 50% in the United States since GT3 💡

Also, Codemasters is making a Formula 1 game and has the license, and EA has stopped making NASCAR games and did not renew their exclusive license 💡

Doesn't Gran Turismo already have a Formula 1 car? 💡

Doesn't Gran Turismo already have ALMS cars 💡

Maybe the world doesn't revolve around you and what you want? 💡

They have the Japan GT cars to satisfy the home crowd, WRC for the European fans, and NASCAR for North America. Looks pretty clear to me.

c'mon, man.... im just laying out the facts.... everyone has opinions....

And yes, GT4 had a few cars that were in ALMS, but a few at best, and a single formula 1 car not enough to race with, you need all the teams & manufacturers...

So am I

I guess you think "it's only fair" (genius quote from another member) that Formula 1 gets in if that dreadful NASCAR got in :indiff:
