41 years old - Been playing every GT since GT1 in 1997? Read about the game months before I even had a PS1, so many cars to chose from etc..

now in 2013, looking forward to GT6 - I have a playseat - Thrustmaster T500RS and TH8RS shifter - 37 inch panasonic 1080p TV and full 5.1 DTS sound system.

I have raced many other sims too, lfs - won over 320 races, F1 2010, rfactor, GT legends, GTR1, GTR2, iRacing etc..

Also been in the motor trade for over 25 years and have owned and raced many sportcars.

cheers!!

23 years old, Been playing seriously since GT3 when me and a friend went "virtual half-sies" on a dark-teal Miata we made an all-rounder drift/track car. I can still remember drifting that thing around Seattle bored out of my skull after school. 👍

Started with his copy of GT3 and his memory-card, my PS2 & DS3 and a crappy 18" TV in my basement, now using my own PS3 & Game(s), a 32" 1080p HDTV hooked up with Logitech speakers with additional 10-inch sub-woofer (dem V8's), operating with a DFGT & controller, card-table and 'spinny' computer-desk chair.

It works, would love to upgrade the whole 'rig' but waiting until I'm a home-owner to do that.

I'm 15. Been playing GT since GT3. I hated the game initially, now I regret it and currently play GT5 regularly.

I am 15 years old and was late into GT1, but got GT2 when it came out. Got GT3, missed GT4, I have GT5 and getting GT6. Goes to show that I'll be here until PD stops making Gran Turismo or I happen to fly away.

I'm 57 years old and have been playing GT since 1998. I still have my original PS1 with Gameshark and Dex Drive. I have my PS2 with all my hybrids through GT4. I still regularly play GT3 and GT4 with the original Logitech GT wheel. I miss so many of my favorite tracks and cars. I now play GT5 with a DFGT. When I got GT1 and the PS1 it saved my life.

I'm 40 (going on 14 ;)) & have been playing since 2002 in GT3. I had decided not to buy a PS2 & GT3, even though I thought it was a good game. However, when a friend invited me round to try out his Logitech FFB wheel with GT3, I then reaslised that I needed to get me some of this! Bought the Logitech Wheel/PS2/GT3 bundle & haven't looked back since.

I am 67. Started with GT2 many moons ago with grandson on his PS 2. Then a looooong hiatus till this April.

I scored a PS3 and then GT5, I've been gaining skills since. Much to learn & coordination to train.

Congrats to you Sir I tip my hat. Fantastic to see people of "all" ages playing. Your grandson must think you're pretty rad for a grandad. Rock on in GT6!

68 and been playing since 1998 GT1 GT2 GT3 GT4 GT5 wil be 69 Dec 8th Birthday present GT6

Kudos to you also sir! once again fantastic to see people of "all" ages playing. Enjoy your birthday present and best wishes for Dec 6th and 8th!

You guys are soooooooo lucky to be so young and have such wonderful games to play. These games were not around when I was young. We had to be happy just to play with our, You know what. Anyway I'll be 74 in three months. Was introduced to GT5 a year ago and was hooked from the start. I now have my own rig, the full monty, and am behind the wheel most of my spare time. If I croak while driving, at least I won't create an accident. Love the game, as we all do.

Love it, love it, love it. You guys in the 60's/70's age group rock for your dedications to the game!

Hahahaha . . . .even an LOL wouldn't have cut it, Joe, when I read that - you lovable old codger - I had to laugh for real, well, virtually real anyway. LOL was too lame a laugh for that. If there were more guys like you out here, the world would be a more sensible place for sure. I've always thought it would be better to die at the virtual wheel, than any other way to die. Go out passing the finish line. Maybe Mission 34. Die happy.

Some questions - if you don't mind:
Have you played Gran Turismo (anything from the series) before?
Did you play other racing games before?
How did you come about becoming a GT player?
Many of these questions are asked by Jordan in his thread about introducing oneself to the site - but I am especially interested in your case - since I'm an old codger myself. I got a few decades to get through before I get to your position, but it inspires us oldies to know that people like you have not just given up on life, folded up and gone back to sleep.
Actually, oldies, today, have a vast amount of technology to keep them going - even wheelchair-bound - entertained all the way into that final sunset - not a lot that Charlie Bucket's grandparents had to do, but we have it all. 👍

:cheers;

"Be happy to grow old. Not all will have that privilege."

Once again so great to see some "oldies" that aren't sunday drivers! And great to see you guys up in the forums participating!

Myself, I am 37 been a GT addict since 1998. Have owned every version of GT since its inception and what was available here in Oz.

Makes me happy and sad to read all about these great "experienced" players, happy because it's wonderful to see these older guys playing and enjoying GT but sad that my dad was unable to play the game at the time. He is now no longer here anymore to see what it has become, he would have loved playing GT with the G27 I eventually got as he was a mad keen motoring enthusiast.

I have introduced GT to my 12yo son a few years ago however he has Aspergers and cars don't quite grab him that way at this point in his life.

Cheers to all my fellow GTP'ers for sharing your stories great to see that this game spans the whole spectrum of the age group guys from the ages of 4 right through to 74 from what I have read.

Glad to see you participating in the Forums, too - in fact as I mentioned elsewhere, it's the community here that makes this software worth every penny - and by software, of course, I mean GTPlanet. Go Premium if you can afford it, and support Jordan and the site - as well Premium gives you access to tools, and areas, that you will find enhances your Forum experience here even more.
Also, a read up on the rules of 'netiquette around here will strengthen your posts - for instance, multi-posting (one post after another) - is considered rambling to oneself, :D  and is discouraged - makes the thread cluttered, even if only with the same repetitive avatar.
I know there are Forums out there that permit this - the eBay Community Forums, for instance, with a Moderating Panel that numbers into the thousands, and many others - with their own particular boundaries of expression, and you may be used to that from elsewhere.
The 'Edit' button is a most handy tool and will enable you to correct, delete, and merge new information into single posts.
There is no problem of course following one post after another if the discussion has slipped away, and you wish to bring back fresh meat to the table - because reposting, in effect, brings the thread up to the top of the Board and to everyone's attention.

Also take the time to explore the other areas of GTPlanet - there are many smaller communities within the larger community, and no doubt you will eventually fall in with a compatible lot.
As for the 'oldies' here - yup, there are many of us, and we are refreshed by the youthfulness in here, and the all-round sense of 'family' brings us all, young, old, and 'tweeners, together in a way that benefits all.
And never fail to take a moment to say 'Hi' to the staff, as they sacrifice a lot to work, and maintain this site. Meanwhile - it's great to read your enthusiasm, and once again 'Welcome' to the site, and the community.

I just asked my mum for it back in October. She knows I wanted it and her answer was 'Yes'. then again, I am just getting the standard version...

Sorry bud, but this made me chuckle as you would have been two years old when GT2 came out.

I'm 39, played all in the series since GT1 in '97. I've bought and owned every version within 24 hours of release but I've been told by my wife that I have to wait until christmas day for GT6. :grumpy:

I WILL get my own back one day.

I'm 15 and I started with GT2 in 2002, at four years old. All I would do is run into walls and drive backwards .

Glad to see so many people who started with the original PlayStation.
I am currently 23. Officially started with GT2 in the year 2000, although I had previously played the first game with a friend in 1998. Currently own every single game in the series.

Notice GT2 behind the original Gran Turismo disc. I also used to own an original GT3 with the red case, but sadly lost it. Also own an original white case for GT4, but the disc has spent too many hours in my PS2 so I bought another one, hence the platinum. Gran Turismo HD was kindly offered to me by a member of GTP back in 2009. Haven't deleted since.

15 years is a lot. So much has happened in my life and Gran Turismo was always present.

44 yr old gamer-played since GT1. I got the DFGT wheel with GT5-opened up a new world to me.

Looking forward along with everyone here to Gran Turismo 6. Christmas comes early this year
