How you would honestly feel if PD included Karting in GT5?

Go-karting will be great fun! The only thing I'm not sure about is how they will implement it into the GT mode. Because obviously go-karting is the first place people start racing in real life, but I'm hoping they don't force you to buy a go-kart from the start. 16 go-karts racing around a track at once, it must be good fun.

If karts are properly simulated, that means that chassis deformation under load is part of the GT5 vehicle physics engine, then. Just saying.

Honestly, whether that fact is true or not really wouldn't make any difference to my playing style and enjoyment of the game! It's like getting excited about tyre deformation - 99.999% of players would only appreciate that for the visual element and have no understanding at all of how that might affect their driving.

There were only 8 on the track in the video footage of it :indiff:

To me the track they showed looked too wide for karting, but then again the only time I ever went karting was on an indoor track so you would expect that to be more narrow.
Oh and I sucked at it BIG time :guilty:

I don't mind them adding more stuff into the game personally, variety is a good thing.
Someone mentioned they didn't want GT to be a Jack of All master of none in a previous post?
I think PD have already mastered the racing genre and are just looking to give us more in terms of adding new series/racing classes

Honestly i think its is just AWESOME that they include karting, almost all racingdrivers begins with this.. and yeah maybe there will be new good racingdrivers who will test karting for real when they tested it in GT5 and may become pro and move up the classes and finally sit in a JGTC GT500 car or smth like that..

I think it would be hard to model a go-kart without a dash view of the steering wheel etc. I'm hoping they don't count as a premium though. It's similar to the convertible cars I guess.

Its great that karting has been added but with so many things going on now in GT5 they can't do a perfect representation of every motorsport on earth and I think its better if they focus on the core elements (what PD are known for).

Things like Nascar and WRC seem to be 'a taste' of the sport more than a experience from a full on individual game. If they wanted to go to town they could add all the bikes from Tourist Trophy as standard models but then my head would probably explode! I would be ok with there being only one kart and a few tracks.

I'm hoping you can use carts on other tracks, one which I thought would be excellent is a paved version of Grand Canyon Mini in GT4, I think it was only used for one licence test but was a perfect size and mix of corners for karting. Closed off sections of other road courses like Hong Kong would also be good.

This is the only vid I could find of Grand Canyon Mini from an extracted version of GT4P. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVrWtN7Ddr4

Tire deformation is a given in simulation racing nowadays; I mean, even Need For Speed and Forza have it implemented.

I just remembered, doesn't Fuji Speedway have a karting circuit? You can even see it in Prologue. 💡

sod fuji, save tsukuba

I quite like the karting. Can't wait to play it. I had a mate at primary and secondary school who used to do Karting. Don't think he does it anymore.

+1
Tsukuba is my most used track of GT4 cant wait to go round it in GT5!
Karting on Tsukuba would be fun, they do alot of karting there.

So, we have confirmation that karts can be used on all tracks, not just Karting tracks?

Looking at he videos you can see the back end step out under braking and understeer.

That track looked pretty crappy TBH, but you could see how the AI line meant they were much faster out of the corners.

I think Motorsports Land from GT2 should be in as that was a Kart track but was used for normal cars. Was fun with an Mitsi Evo 5.

8 Page thread, don't know if you guys saw the video from gamescom today....The Karts do 100 easy haha and I am pretty sure you can use them on any track, imagine ferrari vs kart on top gear track haha

Anyone ever go karting then drove their normal car home.
HOLY F#@##K is that scary.

It's like WTF my car is not turning!!!!!

For me it's always like "WTF I need to not drive like that" after whipping it around corners and stomping the gas.

BTW I wonder if the FFB for wheels will be able to reasonably simulate the lack of power steering carts have...

Yes I am curious about that as well. But I don't think it'll be possible since the wheel can only have so much resistance.:nervous:

Also, to add on. I predict that the go karts will be the first few license tests we have to pass before we move onto cars. Just a thought.

I could imagine the Go-Karts being used for early drivers license tests, a lot of race car drivers come from karting, such as Scott Pruett racing in the Rolex Series.
Personally though I will probably pass on them if I can help it. :)
