Maxitsu, if you read between the lines a bit and see that I'm a 41 year old fart that been hooked to GT5 since release you see I insult my self more than you guys!! Just don't take what I say so literally :sly:

Ah, maybe its becaus I didn't get the clue becaus my english is sometimes a bit poor, maybe its indeed you being a old fart. But it felt that way when i read it. no worries though.

CAR: About my car for next season, i have no idea what i should use. Its like i am happy whit almost every car. I want to take a blind pick using a lexus. Staying whit the GTR to save some time during practise if neccesary. Or go for the super fast NSX. But i am a bit affraid for the NSX+hard-tyre-combo whit i would like to test first before i decide.

PRE-SEASON tracks: Also I like to test the races whit we never did before. Autumn Ring, Trial mountain, Deep Forest reverse, Madrid and one we always do like suzuka.

RACES LENGHT: I have no clue how GT500 works in real life? but i read they do races of 300km or even 1000km. So it would be cool to extend or races and make them all endurance (1h 30minutes). Ofcourse if you guys want to it.
PRO's:
-Longer races = more fun after days or a week of practise.
-More tactical races
-You can make up time when you screwed up early in the race, of course you can screw up again.
CONS:
-It could be late at night for some drivers
-Some people would more likely park there car when they can't win.
-I am not sure of this, But more laps can result in more lag or problems but since we drive in a private room it would't be bad, right?

Technical stuff for long races with our way of hosting it will not increase lag, In some cases in a private lounge we had some problems. I have no idea why, but it might be the way the game check every client and we all know in some cases we had a few fake NAT2 and I believe that's why. Fixed host fixed that problem.

Longer races will increase the chance of disconnection and was the reason we removed it for season 3, but after I figured out the SSD disk didn't belong in the PS3 when playing online my PS3 have been rock solid and haven't seen a disconnection since.. Except when PSN went down.. in witch case we cant do anything about.

I also have been wanting to increase the races, everyone to 1.5 hours and drop the rain.

I know real life race is a lot longer, but they do have two driver in each car, and have tyres lasting a lot longer than GT5, but 1 hour and 30 minutes is better for tactics and the consistent drivers might have a chance to get back on the fast, but not so consistent drivers.
You have my vote for making every race longer..

Well i don't see my self as a consistent driver, I only did it once (mistake free) and i had my first podium. So it would not improve my race but i think longer races would be nice even though it doesn't help. It only can make me better.

I think a way to make everyone happy is have about 4 - 6 of the races on the calendar longer in distance .

Race length doesn't bother me, whatever you guys decide is fine by me so long as they don't go over ninety minutes.

I'm fine with the proposed dates, rules and everything posted so far too.

Seeing the news section.. should we just leave room open for it?

Im sorry but I would really like to keep a rain race. Maybe even two if we do 12 weeks, I think that we should make it rain the whole race though maybe have a dry suzuka and a wet suzuka because it wasn't that buggy. Just split the wet and dry race from each other
(i.e. week 1 and week 9) I enjoy racing in the rain because it requires car control that seems like isn't necessary in a dry race.

p.s. I did some kart racing indoors this weekend with 9hp karts. great racing because you can get it up to 40-45 mph but you have to brake or else you flip in corners. 40 mph= 80 kph

When i drive indoor kart i drive here very good indoor kart track and good karts.

That's great JoeTruckV8, but as you didn't finish 10 out of 12 races you have to re pick it the 27th of May like the other who didn't finish 10 or more races.

And I also like rain races Hurleyman, but if we have rain races I will have it set to dynamic weather as that's what makes it interesting. Tyre choise, when to change. Not simple put on rain tyres and drive.

Wow that looks amazing and very inexpensive for the amount of track time. I had to pay $18 for just a 10 lap race. Those are some monster karts though.

Yes its cheap and good karts the karts are very same fast.
You have try also outdoor kart??

Surely we can keep the rain! The only full wet race we had in S3 I got disconnected and it looked so much fun. Race length doesn't bother me but it would be more tactical to keep the medium tyres for 90 minute races. Therefore some would do the whole race on mediums and some on hards but might get 2 less stops. I just can't see too much tactics if we are all on the same tyres.

I think if the medium tire is brought into the rules for season 4 it should be a 1 stint only rule ( like we had for the soft tire in season 3 )

Also i think qualifying should be on 1 tire only and that is the hard tire , so we have a balanced qualifying .

Just my opinion , you guys can tell me your thoughts.

Oh yeah , about the rain races , I dont mind it and I guess Suzuka and Monza are the only options we have since Spa didnt work out so well the last time we tried.

Seasons 3 Monza race is probably the best replay to watch , it was an amazing race , when it started raining I cant explain how it changed the atmosphere of the race. Im sure some of you will agree , it was a very exciting race.

Yes I was so excited when it started raining. But then I realised that we had put the track temperature up so much the track stayed dry, now thats realistic :)

There is outdoor karting but mostly its slow or for people with their own karts. I dont own a kart and the place I found is 30 min away. Besides the weather in Michigan changes so often that indoor is a much better option :)

Qutdoor karting with own kart is real karting.
Indoor kart is for drivers good that want to start with karting.

This is a question for the Kart drivers .

How does the kart driving make you better in GT5 ?

I used to work as a mechanic for a Kart center. Indoor karting where people payed to drive for 15-30 minutes. My work was repairing karts and doing service to them. A kart driven by every kind of people had to be fixed a lot more often than the karts people own them self.
Anyway I was never a good kart driver, but I did manage to test them and became pretty fast since I was allowed to drive as much as I liked.
The kart center I worked for was indoor, but it was a family company and they also had a outdoor kart center. So I drove both out and indoor.
What I found to be fast back then as I can see on the replays of the guys here driving kart also is the way they find a way to take corners faster than anyone else. With both line and input control.
I mostly drove the 1 gear karts where the gear is very long, and to have high exit speed of the corner you had to really practice taking corner the way you got a high exit speed. In most cases you could get a bit help by breaking without let go of the throttle. Using this really worn the clutch of the kart and as a mechanic. This is what I remember from it.. But as the kart I drove only had rear break it helped you from locking the wheels when breaking and it also allowed for the engine to have higher revs on lower speed.

As we drive with ABS this also translate pretty good over to GT5, not in the same way, but I still see kart driving people have a gear higher than most others on track through some corners.

Well I'm no kart driver, so I can't really say if this is true or not, but it's my conclusion with what I experienced my self and what I can see in replays.

I have try GT5 karts its terrible.
Nothing like real.
In indoor karting i drive alomost all fullsped i drive with throttle and brake together because its faster.
Outdoor with my own kart i drive much diffrent then indoor.
But karting is the best school for the formula series after karting.

This is a question for the Kart drivers .

How does the kart driving make you better in GT5 ?

In my opinion its a double edged sword, In one sense its a good thing as it sharpens your race craft and your judgement when put into a difficult situation.

On the other hand it isn't the best dependant on how you were told to drive, I have been told I am too aggressive sometimes in the race leagues I have done along with this one, karting does have something to do with it. It is many times worst if you were or are a Rotax driver (might be different in other countries), they are the worst. In the UK, I was a TKM driver who normally race hard but fairly apart from the odd few drivers with little respect.

Me and IMMORTAL are the two most well known in this league who have or are still doing karting.

The karting in GT5 is not realistic enough to be compared and there are no real tracks to make a comparison between the game and real life.

Regulation changes:

Tyre Selection: Racing Hard
ABS: Max 1

Dropping 2 of your worst points will be dropped next season, we seen it only ruin the championship for the dedicated drivers and doesn't really help the guys dropping out a few races.

Points when parking your car will be changed.
I try to explain.

Lets say the race is 40 laps long and you finish 20 laps then park. we are 12 people on the track and by old standards you would be able to collect 5 points. With the new system I take 20 divided on 40 and I get 0.5 witch I then multiply with the 5 points give you 2.5 points

So to make it more advanced lets say you finish 14 of those 40 laps.
14/40 = 0,35 x 5(points) = 1,75 points

If you disconnect due to a timeout or similar or you get stuck in the pit we will have to give you full 5 points, but faking it will be easy to see through and it's not that much to gain on faking it.

Hope this will make us finish the race even if it looks hopeless.

Qualify

You will have one stint to qualify and there will be a time limit to it 10-20 minutes (need to be tested and can change from track to track) This means you are not allowed to go into the pit after leaving it so when the tyres are worn out or worn to a level that you cannot improve your lap time you can park your car and wait for the race to start. Park on the track somewhere your not an obstacle for people still trying to improve their lap time.

Race length

Race length is already longer than we are used to from season 1, the laps for every track have stayed the same and we have harder compound tyres makes the race just a bit longer. But I actually believe a longer race can make us calmer the first laps as the longer races are obvious won on consistent driving and less mistakes more than diving corners to get ahead in the first couple of laps.
I'm thinking of try make the races last 1 hour and 10-20 minutes long and maybe have 4-6 races last 1 hour and 30-40 minutes.
What do you guys think.

Calender will stay 12 races long, but Nürburgring 24h and Rome is out. I suggest we replace one of them and keep a room open in the end of the championship open for Twin Ring Motegi, and if it doesn't show we can do one of the rain track in dry. Suzuka or Spa as Monza is to much of a NSX track to be a good final race in my opinion

Note:
I know I said I didn't have time this week due to work on my house, but rain have ruined my chance to do much so I have time to do some things I like

Looking good so far , I need to start practicing on those hard

Thanks for the replies on the karting question guys.

Looking good so far , I need to start practicing on those hard

I found them easier to drive on, after a few laps. Car feel so much more balanced so tweaking for each track just to have turn in on the car is not needed.. maybe a bit. And if the car lose grip its so much easier to get it back in control. A lot more forgiving. It's just slower in my opinion. But I believe we can have some impressive lap times still.

Also on a long track like Spa (tested yesterday) my lap 3 was the fastest, so I guess we have more consistent lap times instead of the insane drop off we had on the medium. Could mean a closer field and that's what I hope for. (more racing)

Yes I think the racing will be a lot closer and the lap times will be more consistent , can't wait for the first race .

I'm going to test a few cars this weekend , I will probably keep my car though.

The new rules sound fine. I think you'll find that the NSX isn't as overpowered as people think on the harder tyre.

By the time season five comes out I will hopefully have the gear to race iRacing properly :)

Gunna enjoy our break-week this week with the F1 and some films I think :)
