If GT5 does incorporate a livery editor...

Awesome for them, yes. As for me, remove it from my sight.
You act way too White & Nerdy. For normal humans a livery editor is considered cool. If you are still too White and Nerdy for that, you can have an option to turn liveries off, so you can be White, Nerdy & Happy. đź‘Ť:)

If GT5 does incorporate a livery editor, a porn car, a marijuana car, and a brony car will all appear online within an hour of the update. And it will only get worse from there. Despite this, I still want one.

It wasn't a problem with Forza.

Yeah, I generally agree, but I definitely think there is an opportunity for Polyphony to construct a livery editor that is even easier, more powerful and more intuitive than the one in Forza.

Of course designing a complex livery is always going to take time, for sure; but I just wonder if there an easier way of doing it, than the way Forza handles it will a 1000 layers, and having to do "tricks" to get desired liveries.

If PD could find a way to do that, it would be a great one-up on Forza, and maybe those artists playing Forza would come back to, or rejoin for the first time, the GT community :)

1) PD isn't going to be able to do anything easier or more intuitive than what Turn 10 does with Forza. GT5's clunky menu and convoluted (despite being limited) paint shop are prime examples of this. A PD livery editor would likely be a cumbersome mess that requires twice the player's time to produce half the results.

2) People don't play Forza for the livery editor. They play it for a fantastic racing game that includes several features missing in GT5. After spending nearly a year with GT5 I left it to go back to FM3 before FM4 came along, but didn't do it for the livery editor but rather for the game in general. Actually, aside from the longer endurance races, I ran out of A-Spec events to do while I had about 20% of FM3's events yet to finish (that was after a solid year with FM3 prior to moving to GT5).

No joke, I may switch over to Forza because of the livery editor and overall experience. Physics may be less forgiving, but I want to define my gameplay experience a little, not have Kaz and crew do it for me.

Not in isolation, of course, but there's no doubting that it's a big draw. You only have to look at some of the designs that parts of the FM community make to realise that this is feature they love, put a lot of time into, and so long as GT doesn't support one, they're never going to consider coming to GT.

Of course there's more too it than that, no doubt, but if GT supported a rich livery editor, coupled with the lighting engine, I wouldn't bet against some of those artists making the move back to GT.

It's also a sad fact that I agree with you in that Polyphony are probably not going to make something intuitive or easy to use, but nonetheless, it's still an opportunity, even if the chances of them taking it are minimal.

Me too. A livery editor is huge for me. The good news is that Kaz has said it's coming, but when, how good and how easy it will be are all open questions.
Why the hell are some guys talking about going to Forza again here? God, it's hard to stay on topic?
Because a livery editor is a big draw for some people, and if GT doesn't support one in the future, some folks will move on to FM. Pretty simple, really.

And you know this how?I actually have quite a few friends who play forza only because either 1)It has a livery editor or 2)they don't have a ps3. Stop acting like you could speak for everybody else who owns a forza game and start speaking for yourself only. Going back to your first so called statement, you don't have the slightest hint of knowledge that PD will implement a "cumbursome mess" of a livery editor. Sounds to me like your just here to praise forza and bash GT5 (I can't even call it criticize). Which also arouses my attention to why do you even post here when you want to have nothing to do with GT5 anymore? I mean, if you're going to continuously bash this game on a website about said game and post nothing relevant or worth while here, then what's the point?

The last time I checked you were not a member of staff, and as such I would appreciate you not telling other members what they can and can't post.

If you feel a post falls outside the AUP then use the report button, don't take action yourself (and for the record disliking GT is not an AUP violation, nor a reason to leave the site).

Now can we get this thread back on topic please.

Good point man, but I just tought the thread was to discuss about the possibilities on Livery editor for GT5... But, ok đź‘Ť

All I was trying to say was that he can't speak for everybody and that the way he was bashing GT5 was wrong considering has has no idea of how PD would implement a livery editor. I have no problem with people expressing their complaints about GT5 but there's a way to do it. At least that's what I believe. I didn't mean for me telling him to basically leave the site to be taken in a literal sense but i guess that's my fault for making it seem so. And yes, can this thread please get back on topic now :)

Lol This is a Bad Editor :P

I don't mean utilising the same system. EA can't make a good game with good features to save their lives these-days, I just meant that I would want to be able to reproduce the logos. <3

The best editor to date at least for me was the one in NFS CARBON. But not because of the standard things that you can add to the cars as vinyls, paints using different tones or your own creations, etc.
There was an amazing feature that let you change de form of the parts of the car. For example you could change the form of the bumpers, wings, aerodynamic kits in general and the best of all was the Wheels!. You had to select a type of wheel from a dealer and then you could use the same tool to change the form of it and the size up to 22" or 24" max if i can remember. The profile of the wheel and all the rest. You can have a full customizable car. The tool was called AUTOSCULP and i had to turn on my PS2 now to see how it works because i was trying to remember. (this game is from 2006/07 lol)

And AUTOSCULP alone with Race Driver GRID paint editor and liveries (because i think it worked better than the one in NFS Carbon) could be great. You could add real dealer decals and stuff to put in whatever part of the car you wanted.

The ability to change the form of standard parts as we could do using Autosculp was an amazing feature and if you wanted to personalize a car at 100% it worked perfectly.

Imagine the best and the worst tuners out there but it is all about tastes and each car from GT5 is your own car and you can do whatever you want as in real life.

Resume: Autosculpt + GRID livery editor = total customization.

...= total customization.

We all wish for total customisation but sadly, that really is something only real life can cater for it seems. Although games will always be getting closer to achieving total customisation they will never actually get there I think sadly, I could be wrong though .

No Sry :D

The only Good Livery Editor has The Forza Franchise. If PD integrate an Editor they should Target and Look at the Forza Livery Editor.

It can't Get better.

Fair play then, I don't like X360 so I guess I'm stuck :P.

AUTOSCULPT was awesome, really... even if the aero options were bad, you could customize the stock bumpers in a subtle way, making every car different. It was so promising that I think EA even patented it or something...

BUT, as EA lately have the power to mess with everything... looks like they killed it :(

Also, GRID's editor was too restrictive. You couldn't really make your own liveries, all you could do was apply your own colors to preset trim schemes.

I find there's no excuse NOT to have a livery editor by now.

We're talking nearly 2011 (when GT5 came out). We're talking individuality. We're talking creativity. We're talking extra hours of gameplay.

What's stopping you, PD? :(

I'd be making this 1st....

Yeah, it would be pretty narrow-minded for any game developer to leave out a livery editor for that single reason.

That said, in Midnight Club LA, there were a lot of explicit liveries (that didn't offend me) that might offend some people.

Oh, yeah! I have that game for my old xbox. I just keep it for that, Halo 2, and Battlefront 2.

Back on topic, I'd like it if they could atleast let you put stripes on. It sucks when you repaint a car and then you can never get the stripes back.

I would put the Midnight Club L.A livery editor right up there too...

The Mary Jane car will be driven rather cautiously me thinks

That was only possible because Carbon had only a handful of cars and a handful of bodykits. It wouldn't be feasible for a game with as many cars as GT.
