ilikewaffles11's Toyotas

Well, if this weather is anything to go by, winter is fast approaching and my Supra is gonna have to go away soon. :(. I've been trying to enjoy it as much as possible lately. Took it out driving for like 5 hours on Saturday to clear my head, and cruised around everyday since... Gonna be a long cold lonely winter.

Photo session from today with my friends new Impreza L

I'm hoping the weather at least holds out for a bit longer.

Friends new Impreza. 2.2, automatic, WRX wheels. Very clean, and a hell of a deal at only $1900.

Did some typical Subaru shenanigans. :P

Pics kinda suck but eh. Didn't expect then to come out good

Anyway, back to my car. It's also developed a sunroof leak which seems to only leak at the precise time so as to piss me off tremendously. As I said I went for a drive to clear my head, don't even make it down the street and water starts pouring in onto my seat. Needless to say I was not a happy camper. Swears were sworn, my innocent clutch pedal was violently depressed, and the poor shifter was thrown around in anger. :(
image.jpg

Drove back to my house, cleaned my seat, and went for an enjoyable 5 hour drive. Now fast forward to this morning, I'm running late for school in the morning so I can't take the fun back way I usually do, instead the stop and go traffic direct route. Step outside to be surprised by the fact that it must've doe poured last night, as the weather was supposed to be nice all week. Get in, start driving, and of course water POURS in through the sunroof forming a nice puddle on my seat. Again, wasn't a happy camper and many more swears were sworn than last time, and much louder. Had to clean it off with my sweatshirt when I got to school and continue with my day... Think I'll leave a towel in there now until I blow out the drains...
image.jpg

Note: Sunroof doesn't leak while stationary, only when the roof is wet and I start driving. Need to blow the drains out which I forgot to do at work today. :dunce:

So, hopefully I fixed my sunroof leak now. When I had it at work I blew out all of the drains. There's two in the front which you can stick the air blower nozzle thing (seriously do those things have a name? The little tool you connect to a hose and squeeze the handle?) right into the holes and blow into them. The rear ones you have to access from underneath the car and blow them out from there. Afterwards I poured water directly into the drains and it drained out of all of them, so hopefully that fixed the problem.

Should also be taking this to a cruise in and the drive in tomorrow, so that should be fun. Also, 142K! :D
image.jpg

I also think I need new brakes, heard them squeaking this morning. So that should be fun. PLUS, I think next weekend, my dad was talking about going autocrossing so I'll be participating in my first autocross! :D I'm really looking forward to it!

I should've posted the 'Brace Yourseleves' meme along side that commment.

Calgary, Alberta is pretty much screwed over. Snow, grass, snow, grass. Ontario is cooling over, however in the first week of October we have a heat wave..... which is normal, right?

Ah that sucks majorly. I hate the snow, which is why I'd never wanna live in Canada.. At least here I only have to park my car away for about 5 months give or take.

Only five months?! I can barely deal with not driving my car for a week.

Believe me, this winter is gonna be tremendously sucky for that reason. :(

I'm the same way, after several days of not driving it I HAVE to take it out. It's gonna be a long boring 5 months. On the plus side, I'll at least get to drive my Celica so at least I have something to drive yet. Wish I had a first generation 4Runner instead but... :P

You get to have fun in the snow in your Celica.... while I'll be 🤬 bricks in my 2x4 Ranger

I want to move to Texas or South Carolina. Maybe even Cali. Start owning classics again and enjoying them. I've had enough of the snow.

EDIT

These trucks are beasts! How much do they go for up in the northern states? (Given you are able to find one)

Honestly, the Celica isn't very good in the snow. It gets around, but not the best. I don't even attempt driving it when there's more than a few inches on the road. Though I'll try and have some fun with it, empty snowy parking lots and whatnot. :P

Honestly, if I could, I'd love to live in California. Absolutely awesome place to be. As much as I love to be in the city there (which is odd because I usually hate cities), I'd rather live in the ourskirts or something where I don't have to deal with the traffic. Though even in LA there's cool places to drive around. I forget what road it was, but we went up some really awesome twisty mountain road last time we went where quite a few car clubs seemed to have the same idea, would've been a blast in my Supra! Would be cool to take it down Mulhouland drive as well. :D

Had a pretty good day with the Supra today I'd say.

Took it to a cruise in even though it's filthy. But whatever. Of course not a single person cared because it's primarily American stuff, but again, whatever.
image.jpg

Also went to the drive in.

image.jpg
Don't know what the hell the movie was about because we didn't have a radio and everybody was talking the entire time, but whatever. You don't really go to the drive in for the movie anyway. :P
image.jpg

Definitely wanna start going more often.

@Team THRT Drift Sorry didn't see your edit. They're actually pretty pricey here. A beat up one goes from about 3/4K. A really nice one can go anywhere from 5-8. Not to mention just how freaking difficult it is to even FIND one.

Supra looks nice, as always. 👍

Also, I feared they would be expensive. Saw a Mitsubishi Delica today. 2nd gen RHD.

I love that van, but the seeing it on the road it in Canada just pisses me off, because the driver can import that car into the country and insure it while I can't bring in a Defender 110 that's LHD!

I had two trucks ready; a Land Rover Defender 110 and a Toyota Landcruiser J70 Troop Carrier. Just as we were about to export, the agent pulls the plug and says these caers aren't allowed in Canda..... two great trucks left behind.

Thanks! It's actually pretty filthy you just can't tell from the photos. :P

Why isn't the Defender allowed to be imported? I knkw Canada has less strict import laws then here, can't see why they wouldn't allow one.

I'd say the Land Cruiser would be the better choice but perhaps in biased. :P There's a place in California that specializes in importing cars and trucks, but mostly diesel Toyota 4x4s. Of course you can have them import say a Mitsubishi Delica or of course a gas powered Land Cruiser, but they mostly do diesel. Check them out, the website is Cross Country Cruisers. Of course, they're based in the US but I'm sure they could get something up through Canada.

They weren't from the '93-'97/ earlier models. The Trooper was an '08 and the Defender was an '07/'08 IIRC.

They weren't 15 years of age and Land Rover does not have an Import/Export Compliance program with Canada.....

So, yeah.... that's a bitch.

I was trying to get away with "But... but... look at the car! It's built in 2008 but it still looks like a '92 Defender!"

Plus they came up with stupid excuses.

'It has a snorkel.'

'Are you kidding me?'

I've always preferred the J70. I LOVED the J70 models. Specifically the 75. I never liked the facelift on the 78.

I like them, but I always preferred the 60 and 40. Plus they never sold the 70 here anyway so I wouldn't be able to get one of I even wanted. Of course I can't afford a 40 because expensive as hell, but a 60/62 I could. However, all 62s are automatic. I want a stick, which all 60s have a 4 speed. I'd prefer 5 but hey I wouldn't complain.

So I asked for your opinion on wether I should bother fixing up this MR2, you all pretty much said no, and I completely disregarded all of it and started working on it with a friend today.

So one of two things are gonna happen here; me, my friend, and my dad will spend a lot of time fixing this up only for it to be a giant waste of time and money, or two, we'll get a really nice beater car for not much money. I'm hoping for the latter.

The plan here would be to basically just get it running mechanically, and... Well that's it. The rust will be left as is, like I said it'd be a beater car. Even though the rust is hilariously bad. A piece of the rear quarter panel fell of now.

So started lookin it over today. Cleaned all of the years worth of leaves and dirt that accumulated around it, then got to cleaning the interior. Since the sunroof was smashed, glass was all over the place and before we could even move it it had to be vacuumed out or you'd end up with glass shards in your ass, which personally I'd rather avoid. So basically, interior has been cleaned but I noticed a problem, there's now a good sized hole in the drivers side floor. So that's fun, that'd need to be patched. Surprisingly, the 'frunk' is dry as I know it leaked before, as is the rear trunk which is also filled with some new parts. Upon inspecting the engine, we realized that something chewed through two of the spark plug wires. So whenever we get them, and a new battery, and fill up the tires with air, it'll be ready to fire up and put up in the air to see all of the other things that are wrong with it!

Hopefully it'll make for an enjoyable project which will be used as just a fun 'beat the piss out of and not care' type of car. Plus a potential autocross car, as I'm going to my first one in a few weeks (in the Supra). :D

Sweet. That's your MR2? If I were you, I'd make it the track day/racing event car. It's perfect. Not in ugly shape, but not so pristine, you'd be afraid of getting some battle scars on it.

It's my dad's car which he purchased with the intent of making it into a beater, but never got around to it.

Believe me it's really beat. Go back a page or two, I have a bunch of photos of all of the rust spots. However, that's more or less the plan. Hopefully it'll be salvageable, and hopefully we'll be able to take it to some autocross events. And just generally bomb around some backroads in it winding it up through every gear! :D From what I understand, these 4AGE motors certainly like to rev...

Congratulations, you're now my new favorite person on GTP.

It's sad seeing all of these beat up AW11s, they're one of my favorite cars. Someone down the street owns a very, very clean one in two-tone silver. Oddly, it doesn't have the little wing like most of them do.

Woo! I feel honored! :D

And tell me about it, I absolute love these things but they're so damn difficult to find it half decent shape. Almost all of them in PA have rotted away it seems, they really don't hold up very well to our winters. It's rare to see a nice one around here. Also, they look kind of off without the little wing I think, not bad but it just completes the car. :P
