Wait, what?

I will be soooo happy when the fake-rusty-hood look goes back out of fashion.

I don't know man, I'm thinking that car is natural. Yes, the rusted hood look is horrible, but doing it half-ass, a la crappy 80s Cavalier, is even worse.

IMO a few fleckings of rust on the bonnet is not exactly the "fake rusty hood look". Nor is the car noticeably decrepit in any other way so it's probably just aging.

And now for something completely different.

How do cars such as this actually get around? How in the world do those guards not hug the tires every time the suspension compresses?

The dampening and spring rates are so stiff the tires effectively don't move.

No, it's a 1FZ-FE (4.5L), they're coming more and more popular with high powered tuning, I know there is a old crown with a 1FZ and big single in it getting around, he is having troubles with head gaskets though apparently.

I see. Thought it was a 2JZ with a different cam cover, seeing how he's got what looks like a Veilside intake manifold.

Iron block, timing chain, apparently built like a brick outhouse. Also supposedly is similar in design to a stroked out 2JZ. I don't have any details on the Supra but the Crown Jay mentioned is currently going through a fully forged build for methanol and going for 1200+hp. He nuked his last motor (rod exit stage left) with 26psi from a GT42 and NOS. The owner worked out it was making something like 920 flywheel horses at the end going by trap speed and weight. That was on a completely internally stock Landcruiser motor.

I don't want a porsche. It probably cost $500 to change the spark plugs and you wait 3 months to get them from germany. Plus if I did buy one it would be a 911 anyway.

The corolla is a reasonably priced replacement for my burnt sw20 with a back seat and a trunk while still being rwd.

I didn't get to check it out today though. Maybe friday or saturday.

944 racing is growing like crazy, finding support for parts and knowledge resources is getting easier and easier. It's growing to SM levels of popularity.

Don't rule it out. It's an attractive option.
