Those are KDWs, right?
Indeed. At one time they were good, but then the market they helped popularize exploded and they haven't been touched since. They're not really good at anything but overheating too soon and looking cool.

So many things stressing me out about that picture.
Oh you.

Just what the roads need... someone that blends into asphalt. Hope he doesn't drive in the rain.

I hear turning on the lights can help with that. I know Florida driver's don't really understand adjusting their driving for the weather (At least in my experience) but some places do.

Not saying he will - VW owners typically aren't the brightest lot.

That car is awesome. Even more awesome is Mazda building a car with FM parts. :D

It's a really nice car but I can't get out of my head that NCs just don't... quite... look... right...

Funnily enough, my favourite NCs are still the pre-facelift 1.8s, they look nice and simple. That said, if I was going to actually own one it'd be a post-facelift, 2.0, PRHT.

You'd be surprised how clueless some people are. And it's always the gray cars.

FMU finished the Black Series project they've been working on for a while now...

New DD/restomod project. I've already sourced pretty much all the parts it's missing; just have to save a few more dollars for paint. You can't tell so much from this picture, but the car's paint is in absolutely awful condition. I'm thinking it'll look good with a few coats of white and some 15" Enkei 92s in gold.

It began life as an '87 automatic; previous owner swapped in the '89 4AGE + 5-speed. Fun little car. 👍

I still say we convince a paint shop to do a 2 for 1 deal. They'll be the same color and its practically half the size of a normal car.

Would love to be able to learn to do it myself. Mine hasn't seen a shop yet for any work.

Wait, wait... what? This one?

Yeah.
Made me question the mental state of the person who owns it.

That Starion is freakin' awesome. The R32 is pretty wicked too.

Agreed.

Except that stanced cars aren't putting other people out of business.

I agree with you. To a point.
Yes, all rota does is copy expensive wheels and make cheap, cast versions of them. That is as shady as shady gets. But, I don't think someone buying rotas would ever have the money to buy volk or ssr or whatever other expensive wheels there are.
I had a set of volks that doubled my car's worth, once. But driving for a few days resulted in scratches, dust, dirt and unless I cleaned them for 20 minutes after every 3 minute drive, they would look like ass. It was a hassle and I'm not enough of a wheel queen to care anymore.
If I find a set of wheels that looks good and isn't going to fall apart on me when I tighten the lug nuts, then that's what I'll get. Is that taking business away from volk, ssr or whoever? I don't see how.

Also, most people that like stanced cars like proper ones as well.
I can't say I agree. At least I haven't noticed it.

Gunmetal R32 would be perfect if it didn't have that stupid POS cage with bends in the front that every caged car out of Japan (or Australia in this case) seems to run.

If you can afford Rotas, you can afford Volks. People just want the look of the good stuff without the patients to buy a quality product. Doesn't matter who makes it, just as long as it's the cheapest.

Most people who buy Rotas easily have the money for legit wheels. You must not have been to a meet recently.

I spray painted my wheels a couple months ago. I have Hawk HP+ brake pads, which are the dustiest pads known to man, and my spray can job on my wheels still hasn't peeled, or faded, or chipped, much less a factory finish.

It takes the money from legit companies because people are able to get the look they want for a all time low price and the legit companies are losing customers who may have otherwise bit the bullet and bought the real thing. You hear people talk about modifying cars back in the 90s, and one thing that comes up a lot is the fact that there weren't really any knockoffs out there, and if you found something you liked, you really had to work for it and save money to make it happen, or settle for less.

Sure they do. Me, Keef, Speed Junkie, Azuremen, and Fred, to name a few, are people that I KNOW for sure like a proper car, as well as a well done stanced car.
