Does Goodyear still make those original tires for the F40? That would be pretty wild.
I don't know, honestly. From what I've seen, a lot of F40 owners have moved up to Michelin Pilot Sports & stand by them over the others who have gone to PZeros.

Lose the attitude. My point is that old F1 tyres were designed for that fitting. They didn't design a tyre to fit a certain rim and then stretch it over a smaller one, no more than current F1 tyres bulge out at the sides because they're fitted to too small a rim..
I don't have an attitude. Sorry if it came off that way.

I'm just making the point that it's not nearly as dangerous as some people feel, and it didn't originate as some idiots desire for super fitment. The look started long ago and there's no real history of tire failure from stretched tires, whether it be on F1 cars or old Fiats. Designed to look like that or not.

Fair enough, my mistake 👍

I've nothing against stretched tyres on road cars, other than not being keen on the actual look of overly-stretched examples. Whether it's dangerous or not isn't for me to debate, but I'm sure you'll agree that road tyres aren't really designed to be stretched, whereas the racing examples are. There was presumably some performance benefit in those 1970s Grand Prix cars, for example, whereas on the street it's purely a looks thing.

This is somewhat relevant.

I was in Barnes and Noble the other day, perusing the magazine selection. I noticed S3 Magazine (speed style sound?) and picked it up because I heard about it online. The graphic design has an undeniable charm and the photography is good, if a bit camp. However, the writing and editing is so amateur that I couldn't bring myself to finish reading a single article. Who are these guys? Every single page is written like a twitter update or something. I genuinely hope this 'style' isn't perpetuated in other magazines. I know in some cases using a bit of slang and popular colloquialisms is within the literary lexicon, especially considering the target audience, but when the first paragraph of a PUBLISHED PRINT MAGAZINE contains several 'wtf' 'lol' and other internet memes, it just screams 'amateur' to me. Not to mention several glaring editing problems. I saw the word 'interior' spelled 'intererior' on a table headline! I actually felt insulted. IS NOTHING SACRED?? Like the English language???

It's really just a group of guys that are into the import community that started a magazine. I would never take it seriously but I've had my pictures published in it in 2009. It's an okay mag but their features are nothing serious, and their budget is hardly anything. Take it for what it's worth but it's definitely an amateur magazine

I don't understand why they don't try to write proper articles? I think it could be a pretty decent magazine if they had better writers.

I guess that's just what they're going for. I'm sure they could better apply themselves but what they put in shows. It's not that bad, but I don't really have any interest in subscribing. Although I like the idea of a small, enthusiast based magazine, I don't think they pulled it off well

It's an unfortunate case of not being well thought out enough to have proper 'stance' and yet doesn't really have the usable look of normal fitment, but all the same, it looks pretty damn beautiful.

Those guys really get around to the best roads, eh? Rawley and TOD too.

Yeah...
On a side note, that photo really makes me miss summer too (summer driving) which is really why it caught my attention. Just being sort of fogy and with the trees totally engulfing the road.

That's honestly one of the best S2k's I've ever laid eyes on. Simple yet effective.

Depending on the car, they can be. In the case of that S2000, they are not needed. The 17's are just fine. (assuming we know those are 17's)

Oh I wish those Mugen hardtops had quarter glass instead of that ENORMOUS B pillar. Visibility has to be outrageous with the top in place.
