great cyril! never thought you'd find the time.
now RTFM and pick a nice weird car brand - i've got some openings for opel and - strange enough - audi.
thanks.

It says "NO RULES" in the thread title -

Why read the manual

This could get interesting afterall !

This does look ok, I will take a better look and see if I can find a brand name
I want to drive. But if I do race I will try to keep the race as clean as I can.

my own first attempt in this tournament:
amalfi non reversed
mercedes slr
gt mode
2.3 settings (whatever that is) with tranny @ auto 5
lap time after first try with lots of braking walls: 1.39.573

SLR AT AMALFI!!!! You maaaad man! and you're racing with beamers...
Does that means that we can take ANY german production cars, independent of our choice for the races??? Woopee!

(also, amalfi non reversed is simply called 'normal' :sly: )

Nice, this is gonna be great fun...so goes against the grain though...lol I'll be cringing every time I smack into a wall....

I must admit I don't fancy the no rules concept much, as I think it has by nature a short lifespan and I'm not certain it can hold on racers' interest for 6 races.
Yet, out of :
1) friendship
2) solidarity (you'll be my team mate for ARC Classic after all)
3) curiosity (the concept is pretty weird and unusual)
...
Just count me in.

Now I need to scroll up and read the rules. Er, no there are no rules. [headache]

I agree with you in a way Cyril, the concept is pretty wierd. But that's why we dreamt it up. Because it is something different.
Glad to see you are joining in the fun. 👍
About time someone else organised while you just race :D

i suggest all read the qualification race post in https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpo...16&postcount=4.

Fun fun fun!

Do we have to do the qually? Like, do you get points or anything, I wouldn't want to waste a precious car on nothing .

george, this is a no rules competition, remember? it says 'any german production car' so none of your precious 6 cars will be wasted.
and the winner just gets to pick one of the tracks to drive at for the next round.
good luck!

EDIT gave amalfi a second try in the SLR and took off a good 2 seconds: 1.37.278 thanks to better braking (wall-riding isn't everything) and the use of nitro in the lower rev areas. lots more time to be found there.

Thanks for the invite gentlemen....however, I'm going to have to politely decline the offer, as between my current job and starting to get my real estate investment biz off the ground, my 'free time' has been drastically reduced. However, I wish you great success!

Cheers!

all for nothing  :indiff:

I'm totally confused as to how this racing works. I've read the introductory post yes, but I'm still confused.

It sounds like fun. Count me in. I will take RUF but i am a little confused as to the track for the qualification round. Is it costa di amalfi or laguna seca. It will be a good change of pace from the WRS with the stress of haveing to have a clean lap.

I appreciate the invite and I think that I will give this a go! I would like to register as a BMW driver please.

Edit--->I also need a bit of clarification on the qualy.

I hope you didnt take my comment on the 2.3 thread to harshly Bigracer, however I will be entering your comp,

I am a MAZDA man myself, however since this is a German only tourny, I will be honouring DUNDA's legacy and race with BMW colours. I see that Dunda has left you with a setup for the csl, I dont have any of the settings for BMW that he had given me, would you mind sharing them with me, Bigracer.

One question though, I dont see anyone using Audi, any specific reason for that?

Nevermind, I see Flat-out using Audi

I really liked the original concept we talked about on MSN back then - No rules regarding cars and everything... But the "Everything dirty is allowed, Nitro too" is not really my thing. I'll race, but I'll try to do clean laps. Costa di Amalfie isn't exactly the best place for clean laps, but I'll try.
I'm trying to decide between Opel and Volkswagen. I want to have both an underdog manufacturer (Volkswagen doesn't even have a touring-car), and the disadvantage of clean nitro-less racing by my side ;)
I'm leaning towards Opel, but the Beetle Bug is pretty tempting...

Why are you all using your LMP's round 1? I'll just pwn you all at La Sarthe .

Thanks for the invite guys! But I too am going to have to decline... I just don't have enough time right now. Not even to play the WRS, as I'm sure some of you have noticed.

Lol, yeah, I have to agree... While allowing using nitrous I can understand, but allowing, if not even promoting dirty racing? Eh, not something I find too amusing, and doesn't promote better skill as a driver. Which, may be the point, but yeah. I could and would enter and race cleanly, but I just don't have the time right now. Sorry guys!

starting to get my real estate investment biz off the ground
I wish that was one of the reasons I didn't have time to play... :indiff: Pretty sweet man! I wish you good luck!

The idea isn't to promote dirty driving. The first post says I dislike clean racing, which I do not!
The idea of this tournament was to actually do something different.
Anyway we all respect that you can't enter. Good luck man 👍

I'm in guys. 👍

I was going to use the Beemer's but there seems to be an awful lot of them so I'll take the Audi's instead.

Darren.

i got two questions for the stewards

1. if we use a car in this qual, wil we stil be able to use it in other races.

2. wat about used cars eg. mcoupe, audi tt, slk, s4 etc

All questions regarding the qualifier have been answered earlier in this thread, here and here.

Using a car at Costa di Amalfi doesn't prevent us from using it in the races (it's a kind of free car if you wish), but it has to be a production car available from the dealer. So the R8 is illegal as far as I understood.
Ben and Steven, correct me if I'm wrong.

Perfectly explained dear Cyril.
Nothing to add, unless Steven wants to unleash his powerful, and frankly terrifying, words.

Just kidding

to all that joined in: welcome and thanks for the trust. i hope βen and i are worth your confidence.

I'm totally confused as to how this racing works. I've read the introductory post yes, but I'm still confused.
to gtp friend luke. get to me thru msn and i'll help you sort things out. but i think if you read the thread carefully all information needed should be there. but i'd be glad to fill you in anyway.

to friend rocko. the qually is at amalfi, for which you can pick any off-the-shelf deutsche road car.

thanks for joining. you're in the list. tell me what you don't understand and i'll fill you in. or get to me thru msn and we could talk about it.

to friend speed-racer: you're welcome. i hope we can clear up the misunderstanding about our mutual friend joe.
about the cars: you can use any cars as long as they belong to one brand and you use each only once during the tournament.
you can use new and used cars as long as it's imagineable that it'd be for sale at a dealer's.
the car you use in the qually is totally separated from the cars you use for the races in the actual tournament.

to special friend cyril. as always you are right. it is a free car as long as it fits in the definition of german production road car. so the r8 IS off tho audi is preparing the le mans prototype to be sold under that name any time soon.

to another special friend and co-race steward βen. my words are not powerful and they certainly (or i hope so anyway) terrifying. i'm just another guy that likes to drive in gt4 and talk about it to other enthousiasts in the great little village we call gtp.

post #2 updated https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=2424714&postcount=2.

OK, you twisted my arm.

Put me down for the Opels. :D

I'm not 100% comfortable with the 'no rules' thing though, so don't expect me to be wall riding, and I don't think my tuning garages stock NOS. But, it will be good not to have to throw away a fast lap because of a small wall brush or an off that clearly gains no time.

This should be interesting.

Someone has to fill the final spot on the grid, and on this occasion I'm happy to do it - if I beat anyone in one of my Opels, you've got issues! :D

sorry tobe but the r8 is no german production road car so your first qually time is off i'm afraid. why don't you try another audi instead (like the wonderful rs4) and come back with another time?

I took a look and I think I will go with Audi, And from what I have read you can
use only road cars that you can buy for the qualifier, but in the six race's can you use
cars like the Audi Leman Prototype because I like that car even more than the
R8 race car. Just thought I would ask.
