Introducing the "Gran Turismo SPORT" Additional Free Update - March 2019

KERS is available for the LMP1 Cars in pCARS 2 as well. You can use as much or little as you want by holding your assigned KERS button. The meter recharges over time and alot more when you brake as you build up the kinetic energy.
Hmm, even more then Blue Moon Tri Oval on Professional?
Yeah. If I recall correctly, you get 345k (clean race) every 9 - 9.5 minutes.

Ok, first of all, disclaimer : trying to make the game fair for people who don't own a shifter is good. Even shifter users like me were asking for this. The solution was very simple : make the paddle / pad users shifts as fast as the H pattern shifters, and let everyone have fun in VR or lobbies with H shifters. Look, that's what even Assetto Corsa on PC, a hardcore super realistic sim, already does with its autoclutch and autoblip options. Never once I felt slower because I didn't have a clutch on my DFGT when I was still using that. They could also had just forced custom transmissions when BoP is turned on, so everyone gets a sequential gearbox. Just like they did in Paris, just like they do for the Sambabus / Fiat 500 daily races.

But NO, why be smart, Polyphony decided to just break the shifters completely and make them work the opposite way manual clutches work in real life.

Now, in the game, with cars like the Skyline R32, you have to lift the throttle more than a full second before you can even touch the pedal. Yes, in game you're grinding your gears and stay locked in neutral when you're PRESSING the clutch pedal. This is not how real life works : you get stuck in neutral when you RELEASE the clutch pedal too early.

So now H shifters are completely unusable in the game. That's going to be great for those who have a Thrustmaster or Fanatec system and threw 100+ $/€/£ in a shifter to have fun, not caring for a time advantage. Now you can't do that, you can't have try to have a more realistic experience in VR, because using a shifter has just become pure frustration.

The worst thing ? You can still downshift like a madman, 3 gears down in half a second and over-revving 6000 rpm over the revlimiter is just fine for the game, even using the clutch. But upshifting ? Don't even dare touching that clutch pedal with 0% throttle if you haven't waited 2 seconds in one of the best sportscar of the 90s - because we didn't have synchronised gearboxes in the 90s, you know.

The joke in that is they released that update the day after the FIA race it mattered for, when they could have just swapped it with another Nations round in stage 1 so that the N300 race would come after the update. The N500 meta will probably be cars that do not have a manual H pattern shifter anyway so that update probably won't change anything in FIA Stage 1.

It's a shame Polyphony can't just think for a couple minutes and just use the simple solution that doesn't actually break things. Also, that gear grinbding sound is just hilariously bad. So yeah, either they just rushed in something they didn't even tested properly (again), or they have no understanding of how cars work and need to stop trying making realistic stuff.

EDIT : here's a video from @khkenni capturing the stupidity of this whole thing.

What stupid people use manual shift when there is automatic as option?

What stupid people use manual shift when there is automatic as option?
The same stupid people who buy manual cars when auto is an option.......

....but don't hate us because we've learned that way of doing things.

Oh and plenty of the cars don't come with autos in reality and some of us would rather drive them as they should be.

Anyway here's my look at the update, scapes and cars (Brand Centre view). PSVR for the Super Formula, Stratos and Lambo to follow.

I thought "suggested gear off" coming with this update. But... :banghead:
I wish they would - it irritates the hell out of me - When they introduced it in....erm, was it GT5? there was a clamour on here to get it removed, and they did eventually give us the option to switch it off. But no-one seems to mention it now on GTS

Guido no happy. You not buy many Ferrari :( ;)

Those of you whom have bought the Ferrari, how is it? I still have 13 million credits or so burning a hole in my pocket after buying the lambo pig, a sf car and the Lancia.

Not sure whether to save the extra bit for the Miura or Alfa or spend the 10 million on the Aston. The other thing is I want a bank of credits available for that 962 when it drops. I’m gonna have that ASAP.

Drives good and take also in account that this car is from 61 it is not a easy GT3 car .
I had 17.000.000 on the bank so I bought the the whole new update , I already had the Aston ( good car to by the way ) so I could choose between the Alfa (this one is also on my list to have ) or the new Ferrari , but my my decision was fast made for the Ferrari as it is in the N300 class where the Alfa is a GrX class .
Don't forget you can always try the cars before you buy them in the assumption you have enough bucks on your bank account to spend .
President for cockpit view oleee .

Cool, thank you. That N300 class makes the Ferrari a lot more appealing for sure. The only thing stopping me is wondering when the 962 drops and how many credits it will be. In general I don’t grind. I do what I like and collect credits for it, a longer game. That race Porsche I will grind for if I have to though...

If I'm not mistaken, they implemented it in Paris so that I thought it would come on this update. Maybe the next one. I hope so. GT5 I forgot, GT6 has the option to turn it off.

What irritates me is the fact that if you make your own livery for the SF-19 that it reset the tires to stupid black one, instead of the nice Pirreli reds on the default livery....

I think this`feature`has been in GT since the first game,its annoying and baffles me sometimes with the suggested gear!They managed to add an option to turn off fuel warning so why not this?

Other Improvements and Adjustments
- Fixed an issue wherein with the transmission set to [Manual], the gear shifts could be performed faster when using a H-pattern shifter in manual-clutch mode than with a paddle shift or Wireless Controller. (The following controller were affected: Thrustmaster TH8A Add-On Shifter, Thrustmaster TH8 RS Shifter, Logitech Driving Force Shifter, Fanatec ClubSport Shifter SQ);
- Fixed an issue in "Sport" mode wherein forced Time Penalties wouldn’t function correctly in the automated penalty zone;
- When performing a gear change using an H-pattern shifter and clutch, and with the transmission set to [Manual], a grinding sound effect will now be played when the revs are not matching;
- Various other issues have been addressed.

Thank you for your continued support and please continue to enjoy Gran Turismo Sport!

After yesterday's update,TH8RS shif gear always in N.

Maybe not the gretest update for me. I would like a update with Corvette c6 zr1 and Lexus lfa more than this cars in this update. But its 2nd update in march so i can't really complain. And new cars to the game is never a bad thing.

Oh wow, this is terrible.
I can't imagine that a guy as detail oriented as Kaz tried it and thought "yup, that's spot on".
The clutch model is possibly the worst flaw this game has and now this H-shifter nerf made it even worse.
Maybe the programmer is not the driver

Oh wonderful, so now there are two N-cars that cost a combined 27.5 million, which, at 345,000 Cr. per BMB grind, will take 16 hours worth of grinding to afford (12 minutes per race x 80 races.)

Well, at least I can buy the Stratos and Countach today.
Yup, time to hit 4 days of 4 hour sessions, got to have that 250! ROCK ON!

It’s ok. And that’s me pretty much finished with this update. :indiff:
