Introducing the "Gran Turismo SPORT" Additional Free Update - March 2019

Custom One Make races in the SF19, are intense. Pretty good fun at each track I've run thus far.
I agree. AI is definitely more challenging in the SF19 then in other cars. But I think that's all down to just how much better the AI are at applying power without spinning the wheels then Human players. They still crawl thru low speed corners and they brake 25 meters sooner than they need to.

Can we talk about this overtake button feature? Is it a thing in real life racing? It seems very mariokarty. Is 30 seconds of boost per race, really something that real race cars have? honest question. I have no idea...

So after this update what do we have now is it not 290 cars if i am not mistaken. We have 26 different track locations. 10 new since launch
But what is up with the american muscle cars and eu sedans. Its strange we don't have c6 Corvette zr1 yet. I am expecting that car to come on some point. The game is lacking moden muscle cars and sedans.

Ok, first of all, disclaimer : trying to make the game fair for people who don't own a shifter is good. Even shifter users like me were asking for this. The solution was very simple : make the paddle / pad users shifts as fast as the H pattern shifters, and let everyone have fun in VR or lobbies with H shifters. Look, that's what even Assetto Corsa on PC, a hardcore super realistic sim, already does with its autoclutch and autoblip options. Never once I felt slower because I didn't have a clutch on my DFGT when I was still using that. They could also had just forced custom transmissions when BoP is turned on, so everyone gets a sequential gearbox. Just like they did in Paris, just like they do for the Sambabus / Fiat 500 daily races.

But NO, why be smart, Polyphony decided to just break the shifters completely and make them work the opposite way manual clutches work in real life.

Now, in the game, with cars like the Skyline R32, you have to lift the throttle more than a full second before you can even touch the pedal. Yes, in game you're grinding your gears and stay locked in neutral when you're PRESSING the clutch pedal. This is not how real life works : you get stuck in neutral when you RELEASE the clutch pedal too early.

So now H shifters are completely unusable in the game. That's going to be great for those who have a Thrustmaster or Fanatec system and threw 100+ $/€/£ in a shifter to have fun, not caring for a time advantage. Now you can't do that, you can't have try to have a more realistic experience in VR, because using a shifter has just become pure frustration.

The worst thing ? You can still downshift like a madman, 3 gears down in half a second and over-revving 6000 rpm over the revlimiter is just fine for the game, even using the clutch. But upshifting ? Don't even dare touching that clutch pedal with 0% throttle if you haven't waited 2 seconds in one of the best sportscar of the 90s - because we didn't have synchronised gearboxes in the 90s, you know.

The joke in that is they released that update the day after the FIA race it mattered for, when they could have just swapped it with another Nations round in stage 1 so that the N300 race would come after the update. The N500 meta will probably be cars that do not have a manual H pattern shifter anyway so that update probably won't change anything in FIA Stage 1.

It's a shame Polyphony can't just think for a couple minutes and just use the simple solution that doesn't actually break things. Also, that gear grinbding sound is just hilariously bad. So yeah, either they just rushed in something they didn't even tested properly (again), or they have no understanding of how cars work and need to stop trying making realistic stuff.

EDIT : here's a video from @khkenni capturing the stupidity of this whole thing.

I literally almost broke my shifter last night I thought it was broken but it's this stupid update I really hope they fix this soon i cant even play the game anymore

Yes, its to compensate for the cars having too much aerdynamic grip to pass other cars.

288 cars, 26 environments and 75 layouts. Soon we will have more environments than Forza 6.

Maybe even more than Forza motorsport 7 if they don't add more track. Fm7 has 34 locations. So if they don't add anything gt sport will catch up by the end of the year maybe

Yeah it looks like people go to their most favourite weapon.

Mine is the Audi R18 2016... I might try the ts050 to change things up.

Subaru's Isle of Man TT car has DRS too when will this be implemented?

Don't know if it was in the initial update, but I just received the Isle of Mann TT for daily reward last night and was surprised to see it did have DRS. I wonder how many others have this or KERS as well that weren't in the initial changelog.

That didn't seem like your original intent but sure, whatever, mate.
I am sure their will be an april update.
But not just yet. If the leaked Porsche 962c will be part of it, we will have to Wait and see. But i think its possible. I would Love to see the carrera gt to be featured as well

Has anyone tried the 20 lap St Croix. Gr.1 endurance?

What car did you use?

Hybrid vs. Gr.C vs. VGT?
I am waiting for the Porsche 962C for do that race.
I used all of the Group C cars for the endurance GR1 series, just only used TS050 in Nurburgring because that track is really boring for me and the Toyota is the easiest way to win that.

Ok I just tried the St. Croix 20 lapper in the TS050. I used a HSG tune. Quite a nice car however I got my ass handed to me by a pair of Tomahawk Gr.1 in the 1-2...

I came 3rd. I drove reasonably well with times in the sub 3'10" class but its disconcerting to get overtaken at 330km/h by the McLaren VGT, the various Gr.C cars like the C9 and the Chiron VGT.

There's a few reasons... your battery sucks... St. Croix doesnt have enough corners to get the battery more than say 50% full.

Your top speed sucks since you rely on the small 2.4 v6 twin turbo gas engine to run 95% of the time.

The TS050 is a nice car but its just not suited to this.

I'm going to use my McLaren VGT with a 400km/h final drive next time.

This should do it given its got heaps of top end and its not a bad handler either.

I dont have a Tomahawk but since its got just under 700hp the McLaren should drop it with its 930 odd hp.

I managed the 20-lap Gr.1 St. Croix Endurance in the Audi Vision GT Gr.1. No modifications done to the car aside from Racing Softs and tuned to BoP settings (88% power and 80% weight, or 647hp and 1000kg respectively). Took a while for me to get up to first place; I think by my third stop or so which was 15 laps in.

Consistency is most definitely key in this event, I'd say...

Yeah thats amazing. I drove the Audi VGT Gr.1 in certain events and its just too underpowered.

700hp like the Hyundai VGT can be problematic if the competition comes up with 900hp etc.

As others have answered, it indeed is. Its not just present with Super Formula, but its also present with the IR-18 from the IndyCar Series (another Dallara made Open Wheel car). Works pretty similar too, although I believe the one in IndyCar has more if I recall.

Yes, it is a real feature in several racing series. However, plenty of people incorrectly call it KERS. It is actually an increase in fuel flow.

Are you driving it like a regular car, or are you driving it like an LMP1-H car? The hybrid cars require a different style of driving. You have to brake early in order to maximize energy recovery.
