Exactly whats wrong with that?

Do you commit illegal activities and thus would not like your real name to be seen?

Some people have legitimate concerns about protecting their privacy online. For example someone who has been a victim of violent or abusive treatment may not want their real name to be found online.

Also many people are any very concerned with identity theft. You may not see how having your real name connected to a racing game could lead to identify theft, but people certainly do worry about it. All you have to do is see Sony's recent security failures to see how things can get out of control easily.

You and I may not worry about it, but it doesn't make it not a real concern for others.

easy to write something else there, for example...

Thomas Meier = Th. Eier

something like that. :D

iRacing not really care so much about that. ;)

Funny thing is though, the Sony problem happened to users who didn't use their real name. All those hackers really need/needed is your credit card info, thats what makes the real difference more so then a name. Really, the best way to protect yourself from Identity theft is to not give it away at all.

Which is basically like living in a cave in our world today. Might aswell kill yourself if your so paranoid about identity theft. Here's a little saying, "life is f-ing dangerous. You could fall and die, get run over by a car, anything really. Identity theft should be the least of your worries. You only get one life. Dont live it like a p%=$y."

WELL said sir 👍. I hope it never happens to me, but that is the last thing on my mind. If it does I will do everything in my power and above (hacker friends) to find them and hurt them in real life.

Felt like a douche for saying it. but my god.

Think about all the famous people in the world. There name is on the internet. I don't see them getting there credit card stolen.

Didn't think id race this week but decided to give it the ol' college try. Finished the race with only two off tracks and in 4th. Puts me in second place for the championship some 80 points behind first. As long as I don't have too many repeats of last week (think my best finish got 15 points) I should be alright this season. But with Suzuka up next im a little wary.

Hey guys, going to host a session in iracing using the jetta and mx5 in three hours (10:00gmt) if anyone wants to join, unsure of password or not yet but will post in here if there is. Was thinking either Phillip island or Suzuka.

That might be needed for most drivers, but I had no problem switching to iracing, the physics are pretty good. I read over some rules and such and I decided to hop into a race in the Mazda cup and got it right this time (no really, I shouldn't be celebrating that I found out how to race finally ) and I got the top time of everyone with a 1:02.497 and I didn't quite have the best start as I waited forever for the lights to show and upon entering turn 1 of lap one, someone spun me out! 👎 :grumpy:

What I think is I"m no rookie, I know how to drive and here I am stuck with a bunch of other rookie's who don't know what they are doing. So I tried it again later and someone else hit me hard from behind and straight into a wall I went, not cool.

Then, I decide to go try something a little further away from the rookies and what do I find? I have to Buy more tracks and cars? Ugh....so I think I'll be sticking to GT5 since I don't like the slippery slope spending iRacing has. Sorry for the rant, but after racing online in GTR2 and GT Legends where the races were 99% clean and competitive, I expected the same. /rant

Hi,

I think my replies to your were missed!! :)

No, it is for all (yourself included) to read to see how iRAcing operates. yeah, you may be fast around the track (arent we all! :dopey: ), but it is critical to know how the system works.

...and if you spent more time around the site you will find everyone says, "the goal of a rookie (that is what you are when you first join iRacing :dopey: ) is to get out of the rookie class." Up there you will find much cleaner racing.

Shame you have to go. remember that if you ever reconsider iRacing all purchased track/car content (if you bought any) will still be available to you.
:indiff:

Yeah, as others have mentioned, one should now more about iRacing before jumping in. I tried the game ~2008 and loved the physics (the best!), but I had no time to play the game. I finally got around to joining full-time this summer and I am loving it. However, I knew that my schedule does not permit clubs or leagues so I was looking for clean pickup races and I could not find that in GT5, S2U, GTP, GTR2, pickup races except once in a blue moon. I get cleaner racing every night in iRacing (touch wood! haha)! iRacing works for me and is certainly worth my entertainment money.

So no worries about your not getting everything you want out of iRacing! Please enjoy your GT5 racing!
:)

I did not see your name on the GTP iRacing directory. If you want to PM your iRacing name I can take a look at your stats and see if I can offer any advice.

So... Last week was good to me on the StarMazda and Phillip Island(love that track!), got back all the way up to B 3.51, then lost some SR thank's to a mistake on my part that spun me out in the Vette and unfourtunatelly put me on the way of another very clean Vette driver, a very impatient LMP driver, over eager Mustang driver and last lap hero Grand Touring MX5 guy! The worst part is that all of them were B license drivers, small mistakes but enough to cancel any SR gains I've made, SR sitting at 3.2x at the moment.
How did your week go guys?

I had a pretty good week. Ran 4 Mustang races, won 3 of them and finished 2nd in the other. SR at a 3.97 Class B license. Got a set-up from a fellow Ohio driver for the Mustang and it completely woke the car up. Was running 1.44's at Okayama with it. Not the quickest, but is more than competitive. Also I'm 32nd overall and 5th place in my division in the points.

Wish I would've been around for the Spa F1 World Tour race. I was just doing some practice and hit on a set-up by accident and was running mid to high 1.49's consistently. With a bit more experience and tweaking in the F1 I can probably pull off some 48's. Depending on what split I would've got, those times should've been fairly competitive.

I need to do some Prototype and GT races or TT's so I can run the F1 in the Class A series. I love the F1 car. You can push that thing so hard its ridiculous. Still have to get quicker on my reflexes for when it wants to oversteer on me. So hard to catch it once it starts to go around on you.

Going to be running the Mustang and probably the Corvette or Ford GT this week. Suzuka East for the Mustangs and Suzuka GP for the Proto and GTs this week. Looking forward to running Suzuka for the first time this week.

I decided to crack on at some Oval racing after deciding I needed a break after over 115 road starts. Need to recupirate and come up with a new attack plan for road.
Oval, going well, should hit Class D soon and start lapping the Late Model.

Case came today, the internal parts should be here Wed.

thank you. Yea I hear that, the main reason for getting this PC is for IRACING lol

(and prob BATTLEFIELD 3)

Sweet Oldskool, nice tower! I just got my Dell tower and it's working amazingly well for a mega budget system. We added two sticks of ram to give it 4 gigs and installed a Nvidia Galaxy Geforce GT440 1GB video card. All for just over $120.

Going from 50fps to 180fps is totally unreal. I'm shocked at how smooth the sim is and how amazing the graphics are when you turn up the juice.

Did I mention that I'm hooked? :D

Good to read that Miata!! Are we gonna see you step it up to the GT/Prototype series??
Sent you a Friend request BTW.

BF3's gonna be awesome! (but I'm getting it for PS3).....anyways, although I'm a little tied up for now and unable to get iracing for the moment, how much is it Going to change game graphics wise? I'm assuming about as much as running FSX on full graphics.

SWEET!!!! glad it worked out for you, can't beat that price lol.

I have BF3 pre-ordered for PS3, but now that I spent this (not small) amount of money I might as well use the damn thing for more then one game lol. As for the graphics, you will have to ask someone that has run it maxed out. I use my laptop for it now (with the lowest settings (eye candy)) and it still looks good IMO.

I can only imagine how great this game is with max eye candy and running high FPS. Miata seems to enjoy it very much lol

Awsome racing on the Mustang Challenge at Suzuka! It was this close all race long!!

No bumping, no ramming, no crazy banzai divebombs!! Till I f@_%_d up and spun...

I don't know specifically what you are saying for bonzai dive bombs but if it's the early apex straight shots in the corner, that's actually wicked fast for about 7-10 laps in real life but after that your tires are stupidly hot and the car is uncontrollably tight, then come the snappy tight-loose condition which is the worst. But that looks like a good race

I completely understand that, it looks sick

Actually IRL we call the stupid pass attempts divebombs, it's whe someone goes for a gap that isn't really there under braking ussually an ultr late braking attepmt wich 99% of the time ends up in tears...

Oh, now I understand you, general rule of thumb is if they are at your door, move up, but I have seen them hot shot it all the way down the backstretch and T-bone you and they blame you for pinchin them off, those guys are the ones I laugh at when they get black flagged

Yeah, from a real good and clean race to a horribly dirty one... Just did the Grand Touring race and lost .24 SR from a lot of stupid idiots attepting stupid divebombs and plain bad driving. All thank's to the idiot in the Jetta that would not move over when he wasn't racing anyone. What's even worse is that the hits came from B and A licensed drivers who just were impatient and stupid!

Did I read that right you preordered BF 3 for PS3 even though you have that awesome tower. :odd:

I'm getting the PC version 👍

I got it for ps3 aswell and I have a computer that could handle it. Keyboard and mouse are strange with an fps imo
