I had a good race this morning with you Jav, just a shame I binned it, and then frigging Sergei took me out... He managed to do such a great job of it that I got stuck on the tyres on the side of the track...
Jav
Ohh man that moron needs to learn the damn code! He drove the yellow Jetta to the grass, held me up enough to loose second place, almost ran Terry off track trying to block him on the straight way way way before the braking zone(at pit exit), and he took you out all while being lapped!! Then he's got the nerve to say sorry and just leave after messing up your race and a sure 2nd place! What a moron! Some stupid rookie moves on his part!
Hm, 200 FPS yer low huh. I coulda sworn last time I raced my FPS averaged at a mere 60 or so with all the options cranked.
I've never seen a crash
OLDSKOOLACURAI just tried out IRACING with the new tower. HAHAHHA I love it, I still need to fine tune it.
I'm running as low is 200 FPS and as high as 420 FPS with MAX eye candy. I ended up taking the shadows off. I also was going to try setting it to max 85 FPS (I wish I could lock it higher than that), I got a half a lap and then IRACING site crashed.
Does any one recommend a certain setup? My tower can obviously handle everything, but I thought I remember reading that you want a stable FPS (or is that just for a low FPS, and doesn't matter for higher?)
I would think that if you get 420 you'd be fine running everything on.
Yea, but I thought I remember reading some where that even people with powerful towers turn shadows off because it can mess things up?
Yes usually from what i hear (and what i run myself) i turn off 2-pass and the other option but keep "shadow volumes" still checked.
2-pass and the other shadows option only makes things darker but it eats FPS like nothing else and doesn´t look much better.
Save it for replays instead.
Should say it doesn´t make everything darker, but it makes the shadows even darker.

That might be needed for most drivers, but I had no problem switching to iracing, the physics are pretty good. I read over some rules and such and I decided to hop into a race in the Mazda cup and got it right this time (no really, I shouldn't be celebrating that I found out how to race finally) and I got the top time of everyone with a 1:02.497 and I didn't quite have the best start as I waited forever for the lights to show and upon entering turn 1 of lap one, someone spun me out! 👎

What I think is I"m no rookie, I know how to drive and here I am stuck with a bunch of other rookie's who don't know what they are doing. So I tried it again later and someone else hit me hard from behind and straight into a wall I went, not cool.
Then, I decide to go try something a little further away from the rookies and what do I find? I have to Buy more tracks and cars? Ugh....so I think I'll be sticking to GT5 since I don't like the slippery slope spending iRacing has. Sorry for the rant, but after racing online in GTR2 and GT Legends where the races were 99% clean and competitive, I expected the same. /rant

I turn everything to the max, including the shadows, except for the higher quality in mirror settings. The shadows don't really effect my FPS to much. Maybe 10 frames or so. The one setting that will really test my PC is turning on the high quality mirrors. At max settings on everything but the mirrors, I get at least 200 FPS on almost all tracks I have run. At the one or two others my FPS is around 130 or so and may drop to around 100 sometimes. The only thing that really messes anything up for me is using the new Nvidia drivers. If you have an Nvidia card you have to go back to one of their older drivers to get iracing to run really smooth.
One of the things that really helps is if you would be more of an oval racer. I've only raced a couple oval races, but they don't need near the PC power that the road racing does. I think on one oval track I was well over 400 FPS.
I should also mention that i use three screens, hence cutting back on certain stuff on certain tracks.
For one screen i max everything out easy peasy. It´s when you add two more screens and check "render each screen separately".
(you might wonder why i quoted you but i just wanted to add on what you were saying)
I heard that 266 is the best drivers for now. I ran 275, changed back to 270 from tips here but only noticed the gain on 1 screen.
So i actually downloaded the latest drivers and it "works"

bevoI'm thinking about going triple screen. What monitors or TV's would you suggest I get. I would really like something in the 32 inch range, but I could go a little smaller If I have to. If I could find 2 more 50 inch plasmas on sale like the one best buy had last year I would go that route, but I'm not sure I can wait for a sale.
Just reading the specs i would say you can´t really go wrong here but since i own Benq´s myself i´d have to give the edge to them since i own three of them and was actually surprised at how good they were.
I don´t know alot about screens more then the "basics" so hopefully someone maybe could fill you in with the technical aspect but shooting from the hip i would say buy whatever you find looks the best![]()
2 or 5ms your brain i´m sure won´t register.
Well that might be true but just to put some perspective on milliseconds..
If i were standing right in front of you, and went from happy face to angry face it takes your brain around 200ms to register my facial expression.
It takes 100ms for en Ferrari Enzo gearbox to change gears,
60ms for the 599GTO to shift gears.
2 or 5ms your brain i´m sure won´t register.
