I won't mention any names as to keep them covered but I've heard from more than the fingers on my hands that more often times than not, iRacing has turned to your team for developing of some cars. You're saying the contrary so I'll believe it from the owner himself

I've found it very frustrating trying to get in contact with anyone at iRacing about working on some of the cars that I've driven IRL. I've asked if I could help out with the Skippy and the Renault. The Renault needs some serious help. The first season it was 3 seconds faster than a F3 car around Zolder...

Isn't the Renault an old F3 Dallara chassis?

hello iracers, quick question. About to get a set of HE pedals but i decided to only go for two pedal option...budget and fact that i hardly ever used clutch. i forgot how iracing treats this - do i need 3 pedals or 2 pedals will be ok?

(also a bit off topic but how about games like AC, automobilista etc?)

Who's predicting that iRacing will make all of the cars undrivable pigs at the end of the season, thereby ruining everyone's setups for the Sebring 12 Hours?

Changes dont take effect until the night of week 1 usually, but I suspect some foul play if dirt is released, ya know, for money...

Hehe, I wish they would have, we along with all the other World Champ drivers were allowed to enter the alpha, however, little was achieved from our standpoint and we are no longer in it. Many of the pro drivers like you have tried to help iRacing - good luck with your request!:D

Nope. The Formula Renault on iRacing is from Tatuus. I think there was a Dallara made Renault chassis at some point but it wasn't well received.

Is it similar in design? Judging by the nose lump and how bouncy it handles it feels like it only has one shock absorber in the front,

Yeah the Renault is Single Shock front. Design wise, they're about the same size and shape but in a really different way. It's kind of hard to explain. If you look at pictures of the two it's a bit easier to understand. The Dallara F308 that I drove definitely was a lot more roomy on the inside.

Driving the Renault in sim felt like the Dallara F302 drove years ago in the front, hence recognizing the single front shock, I'm not familiar with Tatuus chassis, which kinda looks like an F304-07 Dallara chassis,

So all of the Formula Renault 2.0 Chassis bar one of them are all using a monocoque from Tatuus. The only one that wasn't was (I believe) made by Dallara but I'm not 100% sure. There aren't really any other manufacturers out here.

Here's a photo of the non Tatuus car that wasn't really used at all.

Overnight, I saw Circuit de la Sarthe for the first time in iRacing. Someone looked like he was racing a 1960s Lotus around the course. It's a great-looking 8.5 mile course. Now I can only imagine if any of the big time hybrid prototypes became available in iRacing. Since iRacing has Porsche, you can almost imagine seeing the 919 Hybrid. It may also be possible to imagine the Toyota TS050 in iRacing as well.

About to jump back in this weekend. Going to go with the GT3 cars.

Can anyone give me a quick run down of the balance of power between these cars? Is there one that stands out as very weak to race in versus others or any that is a very favourable advantage? Or are all the cars pretty balanced now and it is really up to the driver's preference?

I know a few years back a few cars were really under powered relative to the others.

thanks.

Overall... They are quite balanced. My preference right now lies with either the Mercedes AMG or the Audi R8. But realistically, all 4 of the GT3 cars are quite balanced. Some are slightly better at certain tracks, just depends what you're after I guess. Eg McLaren is fastest at Monza, but crap at tight tracks.

Cheers Mad. I am not as good as driver as you so I think I might just focus on the Audi. Once I progress I'll start specialising in multiple cars

Audi is a strong car, some people would argue the best car at the moment. Good all round car, looks after tyres reasonably well too.

No afraid not, it's just for the stream. If you want that sort of info but don't have another monitor to put it on have a look at the iRacing Arduino Pit Board.

The Audi is kinda OP at most tracks, personally I think its way to fast in a straight line compared to real life, the BMW is way to slow in a straight line, handles great though, the McLaren is a beast in a straight line, suffers from understeer and has the longest brakes, the Ford GT is probably the most comfortable for GT3 new comers, the Mercedes is also a solid unit,

Earlier today, I saw a YouTube stream where the Kia Forte(?) was raced at Lime Rock Park. SO much attrition in that race! One car even wrecked hard enough to twirl in the air and go over the catch fence down the front straight! I never saw the Kias race in any past stream until seeing that one earlier today. It was a nuts race for sure.

Kia"s are the dominant car for British Sim Racers (BSR) and Club 73? Can catch their action on Apex Racing TV on youtube

that looks amazing, seems like alot of people use that.

How do you have the setup Kamui? Do you have an ipad that sits in front of you?

I've got a Nexus 7 that sits above my screens as well as my spare iPhone set up somewhere nearby with the marching ants track map for pit stops.

Here's a video of what it used to look like

Top speed wise it should go in this order for top speed if it's true to real life.
1. Ford GT
2. Mercedes
3. Mclaren, Audi (Same speed)
4. BMW

It should be noted that the top speed of the Ford and the Mercedes should be a large amount quicker than the others. But they aren't. I've been making comments about this issue on iRacing since the release of multiple cars in the same class. Never really gets fixed though.

I think I was exactly watching a BSR stream of that Kia race yesterday. I even said the racing was about as brutal as a lot of British Touring Car Championship races in the chat. It was nuts!

Yeah, the order is,
McLaren,
Audi,
Ford,
Mercedes,
BMW,

I think the audi is only that quick because its acceleration is insane, its not as strong as the Mercedes, McLaren or Ford at the top of the rev range, but gets their quicker then anything else, the Z4 should be the torque demon but its not that great in sim, if the Z4 could accelerate as good as it stops it would be a more competitive car,

In saying that though I've seen Frederick Rassmussen use it to claim pole and a win at Monza, though I'm fairly sure he could win in a wooden box,

Been using my new HE pedals these days, relearning absolutely everything...hard to determine how much brake force to use :(

How long does it take to get use to new pedals I wonder

With light use it took me a month or 2 to fully get used to my CSPV2 from DFGT pedals.

Ultimates or Pro's? Took me probably a few days but then again I race a lot.

Not sure how having alpha access isn't an advantage though Dom? Both past NPAS champions have alpha access so I reckon it's more useful than it might initially appear. Certainly when we're at this level would you not agree that any advantage one can get is worthwhile? ;)
