I have been a hardcore GT fan from the day i got a cd with clips of the game, but GT5 hasn't felt like it has evolved much in game play since the original. I'm looking for something new and Forza seems to be about it. Is this game worth getting a basic xobx 360 alone? thanks for the replies in advance.

Absolutely. You will not regret it. if you are a fan of racing and cars in general then you need to play this game. Sounds, graphics, physics are all great. This game will keep you busy for a long time and you will keep coming back to it.

Be careful though a basic Xbox will not allow you to save the required disc to the hard drive and you'll loose out on cars so you might want to look into spending a little more money for some memory, but yes you'll get plenty of hours out of FM4 (and horizon if it tickles you) to warrant a rather cheap xbox

I recommend a 120 GB. Is it too much yes it is but you will need the extra space for other games

120gb is the lowest you can get now isn't it? (Excluding the Arcade) That's plenty of space to install 10/15+ games + content

I would look for a second hand elite, they have 120gb hard drives. To answer you main question....he'll yes, but there's also halo 4, gears of war, Alan wake, crackdown and may more and then there's the arcad with games like trials evolution

I had the same question as the original poster for a long time. What kept me away from an X-Box was the fact that I needed a new wheel for it. And that can be rather expensive. But finally I bought an X-Box and the Fanatec CSR Elite. I have not regretted that decision. I cannot play GT5 anymore because it feels so "sterile". There is simply no emotion in the game.

But a word of warning: Forza has a very different physic engine. Driving in Forza feels completely different to GT5. For example you cannot feel understeer or oversteer in the wheel on GT5. In Forza you will have to do a lot more countersteering. So I suggest you try it before you buy it.

You bought it already, but I'll say yes AND that to get the most out of Forza, you need Live. For, I don't know what reason, if you want to set up a custom race against the AI only, you need to go online. It makes no sense. If you can't access online, you're limited to career races (some of which are OK, but find a double digit lap count is difficult) or 2 lap free mode races, which are pointless to me.

Definetly, yes. I got one just for FM, and a Fanatec CSR setup to play both games, put it all together in a Working/Gaming room (after a LOT of arguing with the wife) and ive been a very happy man ever since

Glad you decided to go for it. I have also been a die hard GT5 fan as well, I've been playing the series since the first Gran Turismo... I bought an Xbox 360 just for forza, including a CSR Elite with club sport pedals and modded a thrustmaster Th8rs shifter to it using an adapter. Over the past year I have almost completely stopped playing GT5 and honestly don't miss it. What really killed GT5 for me is the clutch engagement issues when using the gated shifter, Forza just nailed it as well as chirping tires with gear changes. its little stuff like that, that makes all the difference. I don't really go for flat out speed, I just like using the clutch and shifter and overall driving expiriance. Turn 10's car selection seems to come from a "true car guys" garage. I'm so happy with the line up, and the flow of the game, rivals mode, livery editors. It's a whole new world from GT lol. Add me for some rival mode races, if you would like. Shelbyz4u2nv

played a bit today and i can already tell i should have done this a long time ago

Hello to Forza and welcome to the Dark Side.

What are your first impressions? Where do you see the differences between GT5 and FM4?

As I said earlier I do favour FM4 (and now Forza Horizon) because it is a lot more fun.

^^ Welcome to the Dark Side..harh harhh!

Welcome to the definitive experience in the console driving sim world! Congratulations on your purchase. This game is SO deep in terms of sheer fun, learning curve and shelf life, that you'd actually want to consider purchasing a supercar and perfecting your driving skill IRL!

Enjoy the heck outta it my man! And be patient with it... the lap times never stop improving really.

Word o advice: get the latest title update and firmware update for your wheel. Set steering to SIM, and keep all assists off.

Congrats again! :D

P.s: used to be a GT fan myself since the first one. Interest started to dwindle gradually as I purchased an X360 JUST to experience FM2. And so on it went. :)

You actually have to work to drive the car in FM4, GT5 is very predictable and the only challenge was if you were using the comfort tires. The lower class cars are actually fun to drive in FM4, and the AI can be a challenge here. GT5's AI is just a bunch of moving chicanes.

The car selection is much better here, i have no use for 20 versions of every Nissan made between 1980-2007. GT5 may have good graphics but FM4 isn't far behind and looks really good to me. Besides it's game play that makes the game, not the correct stitch pattern on the seats of one of you sixty Skylines.

Over all FM4 is a much better game, I should have done this long ago.

Also i play with the controller, I'm 34 so thats just what i'm used to but may be getting a wheel some time in the future.

I am 35 and grew up a massive GT fan. But it just felt like after GT3, GT has been going downhill while Forza has constantly improved. Nice to see another GT member giving Forza a chance and enjoying it. I still have GT5 but I dont play it much at all. I just have much more fun with the Forza games especially if you have xboxlive.

Also as others have mentioned, make sure to check out the other games on the 360 like the Halo series and the Gears of War series. Along with the other exclusives like Crackdown.

Forgot the first impression, the sound. V8's sound like V8's, it's amazing. GT5 is horrible in the sound department.

Exactly my impression too. GT5 may be a little bit more realistic when it comes to physics (FM4-cars are a little bit too sensitive with "realistic" settings in my opinion) but the gameplay in Forza is much better. It is a better GAME as you said.

One more tip: I dont know if you plan to go for a gold membership. If not please take advantage of the one month free membership you did get with your new XBOX.

You can only buy tuning-setups and paint jobs with an gold membership. Also try the online games while you have your free gold. After one month all those features will be gone if you dont extent your gold membership.

That is one of the mayor faults in Forza. In GT5 you dont have to pay extra for the use of all features.

I have a gold account for a year, have already bought some real life and retro paint jobs for a few cars. I'm a graphic designer so at some point i will be playing with the paint editor. I wish there was a way i could build stuff in illustrator and import them but I'll have to adapt.

I also bought an Xbox a couple of months ago especially for Forza 4. After a few weeks I purchased an used Xbox360 official racing wheel and I don't regret it. But I play Forza 4 from time to time. I prefer to drive rather than race so I still keep to GT5 (driving physics I'm more used to, a better wheel with stronger FF, the course maker - I can generate some long, winding and narrow tracks and etc). Car selection in FM4 is awesome and better than in GT5 (nevertheless GT5 has also many great unique cars but they usually are standards). I wish all cars from FM4 were in GT5. Car sounds, tunning and range of races are better in FM4. A.I. cars are more compettive in FM4 but they race less clean than in GT5. It's good to have both of these games because they complement one another.

So any owner of GT5 who truly loves cars and can afford to buy an Xbox and FM4 should do this.

I asked that very question about designing, not in the game but on the pc.

Being it is a Microsoft product I thought they might of had a graphic desing program. :irked:

Still once you get the hang of it this works fine. You've probably seen some of the awe inspiring designs in here already.

Yeah you can put up to 4,100 vinyls PER car. You can literally create anything in the world you want, especially if you are already artisitic.

I'll be honest I didn't read the posts but absolutely yes. I was a GT player for a long time. Was able to use a friend's 360 when he went into the marines and when he took it back I went and bought one and ended up selling the PS3 because I never touched it.
