I STILL have yet to see the word 'promise' ever used by PD. Silly impatient people who think they're entitled to everything.

And as if the documentary of Kaz has anything to do with the release of DLC.

It's just the optics I think. Seeing a grandiose documentary on a visionary as the currently released game is just good, not ground breaking. It's like the vision/ideas for GT are outpacing the actual videogame itself. They talk about these grand ideas of the gps logger and gps track creator, yet these ideas are all just that.. ideas. No one has seen anything as far as the actual videogame is concerned.

There are some people you may think they're being entitled to "everything" but really most people are just getting impatient with the actual promised features from PD themselves (we talk about promised features because they are on PD's own website and still on vendor websites like Amazon that list features that are not even a part of the game yet) that have yet to be released for GT6. I'm usually pessimistic because it's the easy way to go through life without getting disappointed :sly: but I think PD might surprise us. I think they'll come through with the features. Maybe not this month which will be a bit of a disappointment but.. I hope they're working on it! This is also part of the issue, we're all in the dark!

If a baby is born 4 months early, and struggles to do what 'normal' babies do, no one is asking why...

But it's often those that have the most love and vested interest in that baby that are the last to accept what is really happening...

Prior to acceptance is debate and when that debate gets personal, people 'dig in' if for no other reason than to defend their POV, and that is were context and reasoning is lost... Perpetuating what's needed most, cooperation and the fundamental fact that it's all about the baby, not other individuals.

I'm impressed that this thread has remained so civil and focused, despite the less than positive topic... But we all need a rally point if our feedback is to have any meaningful value to administering that baby.

Kudos...

If you keep putting faith in PD, you will continue to be disappointed. I packed up my G27 with ps3 weeks ago. Most folks I know have already moved onto something else.

The death of GT series is coming soon, if not already here.

As soon as PD were faced with any 1/2 decent competition they lost their way. In 2 years people will look back on GT6 like people viewed Space Invaders, sure it was great in the day, but it's going to be surpassed by miles shortly.

A hardcore few will still swear by it, best of luck gentlemen. Nothing lasts for ever, especially when you're too stubborn to accept reality and change leadership, be flexible and communicate with your audience. Arrogance is just rude, and in a competitive marketplace it fails. Enjoy waiting for scraps people!!

I couldn't agree more with this. I don't want to believe it, but I think PD does have a serious issue of arrogance. And it's perfectly fine if they manage to deliver a good product. GT6 is a good product, but unfortunately it suffers from little details that threat to ruin the experience everytime you power on the game. It's like trying to chew on Doritos without teeth; you can feel the wonderful taste, but the experience is just painful.

My thoughts are those exactly. PD got lost somewhere on the way between GT5P and GT6. PD doesn't feel like a game developer. They are lost in their GT Academy thing, addiction to the media, the 24h races and stupid marketing alliances that bring nothing to the game. Sure, make a huge fuzz for a month about bringing a unique concept made exclusively for the game... a car with no interior, that can barely be used in events, while the competition releases packs after packs of DLC cars that are actual cars and that car enthusiasts are more excited about. That or doing a huge campaign about their next big thing which is a car already in the game but with just a few aero additions and ugly butt wheels, THAT cannot be modified, vs its stock version. And somehow they try to sell the excitement by telling you it's free. And that's cool! But the problem is that they make these "super special" free additions the only thing we see in a month or more.

The only thing that would save GT would be if PD grows a pair, gets rid of their stupid Japanese traditions, hire twice the personnel so they can work as a full time, efficient game developer company so Kaz and his people can go have fun with their little social drama outside GT. Or like I said before, sell the franchise to a serious game company that will fully dedicate their time to the game and to listen to what their fans have to say. They have to remember that the majority of their fans are sitting behind their PS3's, trying to enjoy they game that they have patiently awaited for years, and don't care about any activity the franchise might be having outside the game itself.

Deep inside I still have a bit of faith that something good is coming. I just can't lose it. I've been waiting since the late 90's for it, and I've gone too long as a GT fan to give up the hope.

@Lawndart, so what's best for the baby? Or is that a debate too far? ;)

Let's not pretend it's actually about sustaining a massive franchise, about preservation, especially when the vocal majority are asking for changes. It's about the personal attachment, and the associated sense of self, of self-image, even before it's about wanting to play a game that appeals to oneself, which is ultimately the larger aim. There is no such thing as selflessness.

Also, what is the point of a baby existing? What is the point of a videogame existing? I can hardly consider them analogous.

Bottom line is how much do you like your racing sims?
Personally I only put any serious time into racing sims, im not that bothered about other titles.
So for not a lot more cash you can get a Pc instead of a Ps4, Xbox1 then you have access to titles that knock the spots off GT and FM. Such as :

Assetto Corsa
Project Cars
RFactor2

Let me put it this way I run a league www.TheAutomotiveMayhem.com and so far 13 of our members have had enough of PDs broken game/promises and are in the process of buying gaming pc's, the fact alone that we still cant make pit stops properly without lag or changed grip is enough without all the other issues of pd not honouring thier promises.

We will miss GTs community, we will not miss the non stop bugs and problems.
Project cars will be on XBone and PS4, also (I think?!), and is designed by committee! They take votes, listen to feedback, bicker amongst themselves, ignore minorities and cultivate a curated attitude to suggestions, and it seems to be highly anticipated. I bought in early, myself. It's nothing like what I thought it would be, but there we go.

BIG SMACK to KAZ
We Love You!!!

Im also a Pcars member, and to be fair I agree with you, it started off great but lost its way somewhere.

But have u tried Assetto Corsa? Its looking like a sim racing diamond, and Rfactor 2 is great as well. Those 2 are enough to tempt me and my league friends away, youve also got I racing ( if your made of money ! )

I will be getting Assetto Corsa as well, most likely, yes - love netKar-Pro's feel. I'm am thrilled to have that luxury, and have sympathy for those who need to be more tactical in their choice of purchase - all the more reason to be vigilant, and to demand more variety! :)

iRacing was too rich for my blood, I'll admit, as much the Papyrus fanboy as I am.

Wow. That is not how democracy is meant to work, it is meant to represent everyone, not just the "majority" (every majority in one aspect contains minorities in others, remember; living in Wales, you should get that). Minorities have just as much right to exist and have access to nice things as anyone else, what a hideous attitude to hold in a completely non-essential area of life, let alone something that actually matters.

The lack of features is annoying, I agree. I just think you need to accept some responsibility for your own choices ("fool me once..."), and actively try to prevent your own disappointment, aside from trying to intimidate others through force ("majority rule") - nice power trip, also. Good luck tearing those GT banners down, I guess, if that's what you need to do.

But the features I would want in such a game don't get a sniff of attention in such an environment. I don't mind that it exists, I think it's great, actually. I don't think it should mean the death of individual tastes being catered for, just because a few big games are designed by committee. But what you say still doesn't stop a lot of people being disappointed with BF4, as I said, mostly people wanting it to be a continuation / expansion of BF2 (which I would probably fall under). Who do you choose to please?

Remember, I have money, too, despite being a minority. I'll give it to whomever will make the game I want, but I don't feel the need to shout at the BF4 guys for not staying with the BF2 route instead of trying to compete with CoD.

Here's how it works , the majority elect a government not the minority a candidate with the most votes win so you are wrong yet again... I have no clue what you are banging on about my nationality I am welsh but also British I am not a minority in my own country.

If the minority don't like it they can vote again in 4 years and maybe then they be a majority so that is exactly how democracy works. I accept I was manipulated into thinking a the product was worth me spending that £60 and when I realised that its more of the same , I am within my right to feel angry and mislead

It was clearly stated that most features would be in an update. If you feel like it didn't live up to your expectations then that's your fault for not doing adequate research on a product before buying it.

Other people have clearly done their research, hence the low sales. Why didn't you?

I think you have every right to live in the world you have created for yourself. As do I mine.

I did and we got nothing that was advertised of yet so what is your point

Its a metaphor that can have several interpretations but it was with a community involved.

To debate a metaphor is the path to "paralysis of analysis".

Metaphors are meant to sum up, not deduce down. In doing so the meaning is lost.

It's not possible for us to have a meaningful conversation on those bigger questions you're asking as a corporations motivations are their own, and the baby would be well dead long and we would still be no closer to any truth.

I'm could likely guess within 80%, but to what end? We are contemplating the death of a franchise, we are baffled by the state of a single product not inline with previous sku's in the series and no indication of the future...

It's like watching the baby and wondering where the Dr's are... And filling that curiosity with speculation... And my point also was a positive one if only we as a majority (of a minority) are finally starting to see the same baby, the same way...

I STILL have yet to see the word 'promise' ever used by PD. Silly impatient people who think they're entitled to everything.

And as if the documentary of Kaz has anything to do with the release of DLC.

You don't have to use the word to make a promise. Sony's GT6 website is listed with features to come and that's pretty much the same, but three months later and none of those have arrived or been talked about. Patience is a virtue but as customers we have every right to be impatient, especially when there is no communication. The documentary obviously has nothing to do with title updates or DLC but the circumstances make the timing of its release a little odd.

I don't comment too much, but please take this with the utmost respect everyone. The whiners are quite toxic to digest. I know I can easily move onto another thread, but I'm also watching for the post that says... "Its RELEASED!" and the celebration begins.

Maybe its an age gap, because I'm sure I used to act that way as well, probably still do under various circumstances. Patience and décor can go a long way both in professional life and casual life. Take from that what you will. You'll be a happier individual because of it.

I'm excited just like the rest of you! :)

I dunno, I don't like this idea of a singular mindset. It worries me.

It was never promised by a certain date. You think you're entitled to it all immediately.

You kind of like to throw the word "entitlement" around, don't you? It really has a rather negative tone to it and will make the discussion more heated. Just as a tip.

Anyway, I don't see a lot of people wanting all of the promised features (and yes an announcement on the official website is a promise) all at once now. i personally would like to a) have at least one of them released and b) communication about when to expect the other ones.

Also given that PD has said that ideally GT7 should be out in about a year we are talking about a 1 year life cycle for GT6. Now 3 month in (that is 1/4 of its life) to my mind it is very reasonable to expect to get some of the promised features or at least some info about them.

Holy moly, guys, I always say, that GT is HIS game, not ours. You may like it, so you play it and accept it with all it's flaws. Or you may hate, always demanding more, patiently waiting for updates ...over and over again. I've just realized yesterday, that we did not ever get standing starts on Top Gear test track in GT5 (and will never get'em)... Oh my god. That's all is GT series about. Though, these are great games.

I'm not losing too much sleep about the track just yet, but the "promise" (such as it were) was actually reported here on this site in a translation of Yamauchi's appearance at a Taipei Trade Show.

https://www.gtplanet.net/new-track-vision-gt-x2014-discussed-at-taipei-game-show/

It seems fairly cut and dry, I think. (Although I suppose technically they've got a few days, yet.)

GT is my favorite franchise of all time. My relationship with the game has fostered my love of cars (and heck, I work in racing now). I'm old enough to know better, but I still find myself over-excited for every new release of GT. The idea of new cars and new tracks still keeps me logging in much more frequently than I ought...

At the same time, though, I'm starting to wonder if 6 might be the end of the line for me... My frustrations with different issues with both the game and the company are kind of starting to undermine my love for the brand...

If u followed what I have been saying.. You would understand its about the non communicative part of gt6 I do not like .... And the fact I bought the game for my son and didn't bother getting a copy for myself , my son who was born 2 months early like an example here and as a result has cerebral palsy spent the whole of November and December watching gt6 promos on you tube and watching people reviewing it ....he made it absolute clear to me he wanted gt6 without the luxury of speech...my son uses a communication aid like Stephen hawking to talk. I have to try and explain to him that its not ready yet when he's pointing to the features in the manual .. I think iam entitled to the features I paid for .....your dammm right

Ps and changing your font to blue just to stand out more do not make you right

So... three days left in February.

I just don't see PD releasing anything new during these days without announcing anything. An announcement is the best we should may expect.

I lived in the 80s and 90s and used many of the tech/software of that day. Yes all to a degree had bugs but games were literally finished and released/sold. They were complete products. Testing had to be vigorous as devs never had the luxury of patches like they do now.

The prospect of being able to update and add content to a game after release is fantastic, but developers are using it in many cases for the wrong reasons. It works well for them of course, but the consumer is left to often with frustration after frustration. I mean this is how the industry is. If we say no it will change, much like DRM for the Xbone, we kicked up and they backtracked. If consumers accept this as the norm then it will always be like this.

In 2 years time GT6 in the eye of the fans will likely be in a finished state. Then GT7 will release on PS4, probably with less cars, less tracks, features and content then both GT6 and GT5. And we will start the process all over again :-)

In addition to getting the ability to patch games, games have also gotten a lot more complex over the past 20 years. I suspect that that's the reason why bugs are more frequent in games these days, not because the studios has cut down on bug testing. The evolution of the internet also means that information on bugs are spread more easily than ever before, so we're aware of bugs today in a way that we didn't use to be.

Games like World of Warcraft have open beta testing where probably more than a thousand users gets to try an upcoming expansion for over a month. And still there are bug fixes in pretty much every patch that's released (and they release a lot).

The most critical bugs are usually found and dealt with before a game is released but I don't think it's possible or practical to try and find everyone there is. And even if it was possible, every new patch could cause new bugs to appear.

I dunno, I don't like this idea of a singular mindset. It worries me.
Lol, I wouldn't go that far! Its a collective expectation, not a drone mentality.

Consumerism is a singular mind set. Understanding consumerism is a harmful singular mindset (indoctrination), and correcting it, would be a consensus and cooperative initiative of individuals.

Maybe PD doesn't consider February as a full month, as it's only 28 days :D

One night and 5 pages added...

But as far as I remember, they said "every month", which means they could release an update on the first of one month, and then the end of the next. I don't think they gave a specific amount of days between updates, only a constraint of where on the calendar they come out.

(Yes, I understand you were trying to be humorous)

No and I never saw anyone saying anything that would indicate that. 3 months after release though seems like a reasonable time to start rising some questions - especially with no communication from PD.

THAT is what I'm seeing - people tired of waiting. If you can wait forever and find it acceptable - good for you but don't tell people their "entitled" if they don't think the same way.

I would not expect to see major updates to features until May, when the GT5 online services are shut down. Frankly I am surprised GT6 launched without major delays, does any one else remember how many times GT4 was pushed back? How about initial delays with GT5? The fact that they have continued to support GT5 with new events this far after the games release should be an indicator that GT6 will receive similar treatment years into the future. Personally I would take everything PD says with a grain of salt and won't believe it until I see it on my console. These "lack of promised features" is not a problem isolated with PD and GT6, how about the heists mode for GTA online? Most game companies issue one update to fix a major bug then move on to next years game, EA is a glaring example of this dump and neglect strategy.

Of course we would like more transparency with PD so we know what is going on, but the only real way to influence that is becoming a major share holder. In the near future there is going to be alot more competition in the racing sim realm, Project Cars and Asetto Corsa both look very promising and will absolutely put a lot of pressure on PD to deliver once they hit the market.

Like most of you I am disappointed that we do not have features we were led to believe the game would have included at this point, but at the same time I don't really mind them trickling out new features and events over the next 3 years or so which at that point will really have made the $60 for the game well worth it. Overall we have become a throwaway society focused on instant gratification, we want it all and we want it now then we quickly move on to the next fad. It has not even been 90 days since the release of this game, give it time.

I would just like to say a great thanks to the moderators on here for letting the discussion to continue ... Especially vagabond as this could have been locked on page 3.

Thanks for us letting us vent some anger and concerns :gtpflag:

Agreed, even auto manufactures understand that their cars at a show are one thing, but their cars in production intended for end users is completely different.

Pd might do well to learn that... Unless his true ambition is acceptance into the auto industry, and using his 'game' as a marketing tool.

As a racer and developer, and one who has had 2 major game publisher sponsor my racing... Its easy to get confused if you don't balance your activities and job diligently.

I don't agree that there is such a thing as a collective expectation either, and I would still call that a singular mindset. Such a thing does not exist in the perception of the game, that much is patently clear.

(I don't see how applying consumerist thought to a game would correct its supposed consumerist ways! A co-operation implies compromise of disparate contributors, and you would never reach a consensus on anything regarding the game.) EDIT: I may have misread your post, but actually, since you mention it, I think consumerism is at play here in some way.

So, if every game were voted upon, the mixed opinion of the majority would "have" to be carried every time, and every game would be the same. Why not just have one game in that case?

What happens to the variety in that situation?
(Note, I am not talking about bugs, or unpleasant behaviours as such; more design direction)
