It's now March; where is our promised community update?

I really think kaz has lost touch with what makes a fun VIDEO GAME and is just making a SIM that is basically bested by every other sim out there. PD needs a real game designer to work with kaz and his vision while still making a FUN VIDEO GAME.

Or, you know, those "real game designers" could just work on their own games without being hamstrung by this supposed mad-man's influence (which will remain in the team he's personally assembled) altogether. Way to shoot yourself in the foot.

And there I thought you were suggesting Western ideals were meant to be superior...

In 2 years time GT6 in the eye of the fans will likely be in a finished state. Then GT7 will release on PS4, probably with less cars, less tracks, features and content then both GT6 and GT5. And we will start the process all over again :-)

I can see it now.

"But, but, it's a new console, we have to give them time to adapt to it, there is bound to be some bugs"

"But, but, they must so busy working on fixing things that's why they don't have time to type a sentence or two to communicate with us"

"But, but, the AI are the same but they said they are working on it and look how pretty the cars and stars are"

"But, but, you have to agree the engine sounds are a little better even if they aren't as good as [insert any game in the history of sim racing]"

I'm getting sick and tired of the lack of communication from PD. At this point there is no way in hell I will be buying another GT game. I mean where the **** are shuffle races and why were they taken out? I seriously doubt we will get even half of our promised updates. It seems due to poor sales PD has almost entirely dropped support of this game.

Calm yourself.

OMG, this thread is still going...

In my books, GT6 is a weak beta and doesn't deserve much real attention as a stand alone game. BUT, with the WRS and great community here at GTPlanet, it keeps me well entertained.

PD has a LOT to fix, but as long as the community here supports great racing, I'll stick with it:gtpflag:

I'm not saying anything is superior to anything... Kaz just takes GT in some crazy directions and maybe there needs to be someone around to rein him in from time to time.

See what happened with the NFS series.

From glory to thrash. The japanese know how to keep a tradition going. Even if that takes long to do something. One of our "western philosophy" made them remove my beloved used car dealer! I hated this. Why they did? Because most casuals are lazy and used to easy games where everything is unlocked from the beginning.

I prefer to keep GT in the original hands and minds.

I just think they need more people in the team but I also understand that when you work on a familiar enviroment like PD is, it's hard to find "good people". I also think like that and dream to build a studio or something where only people with good character and craftsmanship would work.

That's not how most corporations work BUT it's how the happiest and more brilliant ones do.

Everything is going to be alright. GT5 had a lot of updates and become ten times better with them. I was kinda upset last night because I stayed awake waiting and now I'm here at work, drinking a **** load of coffee... but it was MY fault because I expected something without knowing what's to come.

And February is still on. If not, there's March.

Unfortunately that's how it works. There's plenty of other games to keep us entertained too, it's a big industry. Go have fun while we wait, it's the best to do! :)

Have a nice day everyone, good vibes and hopes up. Good vibes it's all that GT Planet needs lately. What a dark place this one became.

All the best!

EA just stops bothering after 3 updates, leaving games a broken mess. PD at least continues to support the game and tries to fix things.
I would say that they are about as much of a broken mess as GT6. Which, for me is barely. I've had enough games (not specifically by EA or PD) that had glitches or bugs but I've never bothered with remembering how often it happened and what happened. Which means they are not important.

GT5 had 27 updates. The highest amount of updates I've had on an EA game was something like 3.
Amount of updates has nothing to do with completion of a game. I'd be willing to bet that Halo 3 had more updates than GT5 in it's five year reign, yet it was complete from the start.

Most EA games are complete from the beginning if you don't count glitches against completion, which I don't. However some games are so horribly incomplete they're labeled as Betas by the community. Just look at Battlefield 4.

If not for this site and my fellow racers I've met here, I would have had no reason to buy this game.

Iam with this guy if it wasn't for gtplanet I would have been in the dark about PD since gt4 here a sig I created when I was a beta tester for psn on the ps2

EA doesn't really believe in post-release support to the same degree. They make a "product", "ship it" and then start working on the next one.

Something like GT is a bit different in that development is one long line of interconnected features, ideas and systems. Making "the next one" is about refactoring your "vision" of where all those interconnected things are going to, and where they currently are.
That means updates to a previous edition technically count as working on the next one (although that hasn't translated entirely to GT6 - but version control is a mightily tricky beast.)

I'm not saying anything is superior to anything... Kaz just takes GT in some crazy directions and maybe there needs to be someone around to rein him in from time to time.

Or you could step away from the totalitarian stick and respect the free market economy. If there is supposed to be "competition" in this "market", then a "rival" "product" could do what you suggest better than trying to hijack an existing going concern (ignoring the power of brand awareness, but brand image is easily sullied, especially after a take over, or "reboot").

I personally don't see that there is specific need for competition as such, because entertainment, especially experiential entertainment, is niche city. That means a wide array of different takes on the same "genre" could co-exist happily. Trouble is, business doesn't think that way.

Oh well, so much for the update =P I dunno I don't really think it's a big deal. Besides, what good's getting angry gonna do us? It's not like we can force PD to rush development, and I'm willing to bet they're frantic in those offices trying to sort out whatever the hell's going on. I just think they need to either hire a Communications guy to actually talk to us on what's going on, or hire more staff so we don't need to keep asking them what the hell's going on XD

Hopefully we can turn a corner here I like your attitude and hope you have a good day too. A lough I do not agree with what you posted above , and hopefully you will take my reply with a pinch of salt.

We in the western world inverted comers , are hard working as any other society we are all humans , Japan has had it's day when it comes to game production ever since the demise of the arcades. Evidence is all around if you car too look nintendo is in dire position , sega only makes software, snk aka neo geo is long gone, the world has changed so much since 80's - 90's but the attitude from Japan hasn't really moved much , embrace the world and we will embrace you

Good call. George Lucas was left to his own devices on the prequel trilogy and messed up his own creation to the point the back story resembles a bloody mess that can never be fixed....by the same token, Kaz is making a similar mess of his creation.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to give you all a pat on the back for (mostly) keeping this topic civil and on target - I think it has produced some interesting points and views. 👍 For me, its a reward for taking the chance and leaving it open after I'd locked the previous one. Thanks guys.

I'm not saying that someone should come in and sully the GT name. I'm saying that GT how it is now has much more potential than Kaz can even comprehend. There should be someone there to help GT realize more of its potential. GT is at maybe 5% of where it should be. I want us to have an advocate within PD.

Last I checked, Japan is in the world - perhaps you should embrace them. This attitude smacks of "bend to my will", "you've had your day". Eurocentrism is truly deeply rooted (and that applies to Americans, north or south, for obvious reasons).

I prefer to believe that diversity always wins over monoculture.

As long as they're Western, right?

No, my suggestion is far better. Leave PD to their own end, and let's fund someone else to make the game of our dreams from the ground up.

If you want my cash then then I am involved , but u best have better communication than pd and u best follow through with your plans. If not I'll ditch you like a used tampon too

Yes PD has been late before, many times at that. But if you feel that PD is ripping you off, file a lawsuit or sue them for not getting done on time if you have such a problem with it. You see, some of us do other things besides playing this game. I go to work, eat, sleep, pay bills, spend time with my friends and family, and much more. I could care less if a feature is delayed, I have better things to do with my life than playing video games and wait for something to come out.

So this is the new response from fan boys to PD's shenanigans ? "sue them" ? .. If it was as simple as that then I'm sure some people would have. But as you and others that say that know how much money that costs. Let alone time and effort.

What does "work, eat, sleep, pay bills, spend time with my friends and family, and much more" have anything to do with someone that was promised features in writing on the freakin box/booklet ? ... So you are saying people that ask for features they paid for have no life and no job ? ... It doesn't matter weather you play for an hour a week or ten hours a day.

If you "have better things to do with my life than playing video games and wait for something to come out.", then how come your in a forum specified for video games ?

This is what PD should be like...see and learn! But noooo lets focus on what money we can get from manufactorers for making commercial releases and call them updates. Then lets go silent as if it was a secret mission.
But to be a little optimistic, Gt7 will be a new beginning, ps4 users will forgive and forget.

I don't think that's true. Without GTPlanet I wouldn't have known that GT6 existed, and in fact, I had to tell all of my friends who played GT5 that it does. Not only that, but now they keep asking when the community features are coming. You can't really look over them: We used them a lot in GT5. Promised or not, you can't be all surprised and happy when a promise you knew about but ignored and which didn't seem to come true suddenly does come true.

Besides, those promises at least kept me hopeful (in the beginning) that it might get better.

WHAT are you even on about dude. This has nothing to do with race or whatever you are talking about its about good game design and PD is just not playing with a full deck in that department. they NEED help.
Using your words I would say that PD needs to "embrace the world".
