Car Settings
To make the racing as close as possible, the specs for each car are very similar. You must set your car up to these parameters for each track, it will be obvious if you've not done so due to top speed etc.

Daytona Road, Indy Road, Tokyo R246 and Tokyo R246 Reverse Specs:
Power: Detuned to 650hp
Weight: 175kg ballast on Road courses (725kg total)
Transmission: Reset to default, then put max speed at the bottom right to 211 mph, then put final gear to 4.250, and 7th gear should be at 1.509 . This should give you about 209 mph in the draft.
Tyres: Comfort Hards and Mediums. You must drive at least 2 laps on each compound.
All other tuning: Unrestricted

Madrid Specs:
Power: 650hp
Weight: 725kg
Transmission: Reset to default, set max speed at the bottom right to 193mph, then put final gear at 4.295, 7th should be at 1.655.
Tyres: Comfort hards and mediums. You must drive at least 2 laps on each compound.
All other tuning: Unrestricted

Laguna Seca Specs:
Power: Detuned to 650hp
Weight: 175kg ballast on Road courses (725kg total)
Transmission reset to default, then put max speed at the bottom right to 180 mph, then put final gear at 4.200, and 7th gear should be at 1.769 .
Tyres: Comfort Hards and Mediums. You must drive at least 2 laps on each compound.
All other tuning: Unrestricted

Daytona Oval Track Specs
Weight 690kg
Max Power 631bhp
Transmission: Reset everything to default, then put max speed at the bottom right to 217mph, then put final gear to 4.230, and then put 7th gear at 1.465 . You get 210/211 mph running solo, and these settings limit the drafting speeds to 215/216 mph
Tyres: Comfort Hards
Ride Height (Optional): Increase ride height to iron out the bumps in the road, not compulsory.
All Other Tuning: Unrestricted

Indy Oval Track Specs:
Weight: 690kg
Max Power: 848bhp
Transmission: Reset transmission to default, then set the max speed at the bottom to 236, then put your final gear at 4.212, and 7th gear at 1.366 . The other six gears can be set however you want. This will limit the top speed of your car to about 232.5 mph.
Tyres: Comfort Hards
All Other Tuning: Unrestricted

Round 6 - Daytona 200 IndyCar Finale
80 laps + 1 pace lap (200 miles) at Daytona Speedway
16th of December

Qualifying
Road Course: The track will be reset and you will have 30 minutes to post the fastest lap time possible which will determine your starting position, simple.

Oval Course: The track will be reset and all drivers will go to the pits. Then the drivers will be called out one at a time, for 1 out lap and 2 flying laps by the steward. They will then return to the pits, DO NOT exit the track. These qualifying sessions may start 15 minutes earlier in order to fit everybody's runs in.

Pace Lap Rules
Form up in double file behind the safety car and follow it round the track in qualifying order as shown below.
FormationLap.jpg

At the end of the lap the safety car will pull into the pits, you should still drive at the speed limit until the first car passes the start line (or the pit wall at Indy)
Indy 3 wide start @ 80mph
Daytona 2 wide start @ 100mph
Road Courses 2 wide start @ 70mph

Pit Lane Rules
On all tracks you have to slow down to 60mph before you enter the pit lane and the computer takes control of your car. There are a couple of tracks that cause issues after the pit though so i'll clear them up:

Daytona Road: On exiting the pit lane and re taking control of your car, quickly slow down to the 60mph speed limit (you regain control automatically doing 62mph) Do not rejoin the track to the right. Instead continue along the long pit road extension to the left still adhering to the 60mph pit lane speed limit. Note that you ARE allowed to cut through the empty pit boxes on the second half of the pit lane. At the end of the pit lane barrier, you are free to accelerate away.

Indy Superspeedway: On exiting the pit lane and re taking control of the car, do not immediately turn right onto the track after turn 1. Instead, you should follow the inside pit road all the way round and exit after turn 2. There is no speed limit on this pit exit though as it is relatively simple, and slowing down would be pointless. Check that there are no faster cars approaching from behind when you rejoin on the back straight.

Daytona Superspeedway: On exiting the pit lane, stay on the inside of the track (to the left of the yellow line) until you are clear out of turn 2. This is to avoid accidents on the high banking. Speed on this pit exit is unrestricted. Check there are no faster cars approaching from behind when you rejoin on the back straight.

On all other tracks the pit entrys and exits are pretty simple, just remember the 60mph entry speed. You must have at least 2 wheels in the pit entry/exit lanes at all times.

Oval Course Cautions
Indy cautions: 4 caution laps in total. On the first lap everyone gathers behind the safety car. At the start of the second caution lap, the wavearound is given to any cars between the safety car and the race leader. At the end of the second caution lap the pits are open. Cars catch back up to the safety car near/at the end of the third caution lap. Cars go double file on the back straight on the 4th caution lap, ready to restart. Leader takes the inside line as it is an oval. Race restarts at the beginning of the pit wall. Restart speed is 100mph. NO CAUTIONS IN THE LAST 3 LAPS.

Daytona cautions: As above, 4 caution laps, race restarts at the start/finish line. Restart speed is 100 mph. NO CAUTIONS IN THE LAST 3 LAPS.

Road Course Cautions
2 caution laps. Form up behind the safety car as usual but at 70mph, the first caution lap starts when the safety car crosses the line, at this point the wavearound will be called for cars between the safety car and the leader. The pits will be open for the end of this lap, once you have pitted, catch up to the safety car and go double file for the restart at the start/finish line. The leader gets a choice of the inside or outside line for restarts.

If you feel that someone has:
-Purposefully crashed into you
-Caused an avoidable accident
-Been consistently cutting corners
please inform me or LVracer depending on which division it was in. Replays will be studied and points deductions/Time penalties will be considered if the incident was serious enough.

Thanks mate, will add you to the list. Any good for my first thread? :sly:

EDIT: And can you make the Wednesday? If so, I'll confirm it.

Looking from iPhone briefly it looks great Tom, good job mate.

Wednesdays are fine and personally wouldn't give the option that it may change or we'll have allsorts saying 'change it to this'. 'change it to that'

Also, best put the dates in (sorry if already have)

Let's see what interest we get now.

👍

Thanks mate, I'll set Wednesday as a definite on the OP. We were getting plenty of interest before, hope it carries over 👍

Bravo! I've been waiting for somebody to do this! I can't race on Wednesdays but I hope it goes well. 👍

We've been planning it out for a while. We had to make it Wednesday so our safety car driver can make it. That's a shame, thanks anyway :)

Im in

MemorableC
Newman Haas if i cant find a KV lotus
US series

pending race time etc for the US series

I'm surprised that the numbers work out so weel for the cars. 10 FGT colours in the game, 3 cars per team, 30 cars total, 15 per series, leaving 1 space for the safety car in each.

Anyways, you already know I'm in. 👍

Yeah I was stunned it worked out so well. No worries, you're already down for Team Penske with Knelly 👍

EDIT: Don't worry about the absence of a points table, I've got them set up on Google docs and will add them after the first race.

Looks good

Psn: terrible1fi
Lotus
Us series (pending race day availability)

👍

Awesome, I'll put you down. I'm just waiting on a US schedule and times, should get them soon from LVracer so keep your eyes on the thread 👍

Slightly off topic, but everybody check out the Q&A section for the full Spec 2 features list, I can't wait!

LV's suggestion last night was to have an extra leaderboard, with the points of people from both series, which goes towards an extra championship (I think he called it the Intercontinental Championhip). So we'd have a UK champ, a US champ, and an Intercontinental champ. He also said to let him know when you make the sign up thread, since I'm sure he has the info to give you about the US series.

Yeah I can just about remember him saying that, I'll make up an extra table. I might PM him to let him know about the thread 👍

EDIT: The full list will be UK Champion, US Champion, Intercontinental Champion and Constructors champions. There's probably about a 1 in 2 chance of bagging a trophy haha :sly:

Don't forget about the UK Vs US race Champion :dopey: .

I may have to do a lot of testing after spec 2.0 comes out in the next 10 days or so (Kaz confirmed it'll come out on the week that is the 9th-15th), since one of the things included is "improved physics".

Well I've decided to start worrying about that one in December :P Yeah definitely, it shouldn't cause any issues though. My bet is they improve the exterior damage model as well.

Yeah, "improved physics" could mean a lot of things. Rollover online, making online and offline physics the same, handling physics, tyre physics, damage physics...

Tyre and fuel changes are the only things that could cause us issues, and it would be a good idea to standardize physics across online and offline. Rollover physics and damage is only a good thing ;)

If they do standardise physics, hopefully they use the online physics (and add rollover), otherwise our setups will all be useless.

Yep, and we'll only have a week or two to sort it out. Let's hope Kaz keeps our series in mind while making the update :P

2.0 is set to be released on the 11th (though I don't know whether this may be the 11th in Japan, which will be more like the 12th for us).

Ah I see, cockpit views look very nice as well. That means there'll be one for the FGT right? :D

Also guys, please tell your mates, fellow racers, wives, families, pets etc. about this series, it's gonna take some effort to fill up 25 grid spaces 👍

OP looks great Tom! I just pm'd you the US schedule. Also, the US room will have mics enabled with race quality on high.

Thanks mate! Just Pm'd you about a couple of extra things, and that's great. What team are you representing? :)
