Ok, here's what I'd propose for season 2. Just a suggestion, but how
BH-21 wants to proceed is up to him, obviously as it's his series and concept.
However, we've always found that the handicap style of racing at UKGTP & SFGTP events was popular as it made a great leveler that enabled even the slowest drivers an opportunity to win a race or 2 eventually.
Given
one inch man's runaway success in the fastest car in the field that was selected, and
Croooooow's lacklustre performance in the Pennzoil Nismo, and the performance discrepancies that the JGTCs have, especially the Xanavi Nismo, WoodOne Toyota and the Motul Pitwork Z which benefit from more power & downforce than the older JGTCs, it seems fair to now put the faster drivers in the slower cars and the slower drivers in the faster cars to "regulate" the field.
Car-less did an enormous amount of A-spec & B-spec testing and he came up with a complete carlist in order of quickness based on laptimes on 6 tracks (4 A-spec, 2 B-spec), and if we extract the list of JGTCs from this, it shows the following in order from fastest to slowest:
Nissan Motul Pitwork Z (JGTC) '04
Nissan Xanavi Nismo GT-R (JGTC) '03
Toyota Woodone Tom's Supra (JGTC) '03
Toyota ESSO Ultraflow Supra (JGTC) '01 (PAL Only)
Nissan Xanavi Hiroto GT-R (JGTC) '01
Toyota Castrol Tom's Supra (JGTC) '01
Nissan Pennzoil Zexel GT-R (JGTC) '01
Toyota Au Cerumo Supra (JGTC) '01
Nissan Loctite Zexel GT-R (JGTC) '00
Nissan Calsonic Skyline (JGTC) '00
Toyota Denso Sard Supra (JGTC) '00
Toyota Castrol Tom's Supra (JGTC) '00
Honda Loctite Mugen NSX (JGTC) '01
Nissan Pennzoil Nismo GT-R (JGTC) '99
Honda Mobil 1 NSX (JGTC) '01
Honda Takata Dome NSX (JGTC) '03
Honda Raybrig NSX (JGTC) '00
Honda Castrol Mugen NSX (JGTC) '00
Honda ARTA NSX (JGTC) '00
Nissan Calsonic Skyline GT-R '93
Basically what I'd propose is to allow unproven newbies to the series to start at the top of the list and select a car, then work bottom up from the standings of Season 1 for the drivers that wish to participate in Season 2.
So, for example if the unproven
tvr speed 12 wants to take the Motul Z, it would then fall for
Croooooow to pick something below that in the list, and our next man up would then pick lower again and so on until we reach me and
one inch man who'd get last pick.
Or we could work the other way around, allowing last time's winner
one inch man the first selection, but forcing him to pick low enough in the list that there's enough cars above him for the 8 or so interested drivers to pick above him, although of, course leaving anyone the option of picking below him if they so choose. e.g. If
one inch man picks the Denso Sard Supra, it leaves more than 8 cars for people to pick above him, but I could pick anything from the Calsonic Skyline '00 up (obviously leaving enough selection for the drivers above me) but also if I felt like it anything untaken below that, so I could take the Castrol Mugen NSX. The same would go then for the driver above me, etc.
Make sense? Probably not. I'll explain it better if everyone thinks it might be fun, but it basically gives
Matej and
amokibh more of a chance of winning and makes me &
one inch man work harder to keep up.
I'm not sure when this is proposed to start again, and I'll be away for large parts of November, but I'll try to compete where possible.
Anyway, that's my
, so let me know what you think
BH-21?
