Tonight Joe Biden apparently committed himself to choosing a woman as his running mate. So who do the sharp political minds at GTPlanet think will be that woman? I have allowed 2 votes per person. If anybody thinks some one else would be on the list, let me know.

You're missing Gretchen Whitmer, Governor of Michigan.

Of your list:

Hillary: Toxic asset at best. No way Biden goes for a Clinton. Plus she gives him nothing he doesn't already have.

Michelle: Maybe, but her lack of direct experience would be a hard sell.

Amy: Could be a good choice...but she didn't make big inroads in the primary. More likely than the first 2.

Elizabeth: Would be a good (maybe great) combo, but I think her east-coast elitism (justified or not) wouldn't be as useful in the heartland.

Kamala: No, no, no. Biden doesn't need help in CA. And Kamala wouldn't be helpful anywhere else.

Tulsi:

Kirsten Gillibrand: Same as Amy. She seems a bit more tenacious, which could be an asset.

Tammy Baldwin: Don't know.

You think I should add Gretchen Whitmer?

Whitmer just became governor, I highly doubt shes going anywhere right now. I'd personally rather see Gabbard picked. Biden can pull the establishment Democrat voters and she can rally the Bernie Bros and progressive voters.

Added Stacey Abrams.

Please note that you can change your vote if you wish.

Tulsi Gabbard? Really? It's not who you would LiKE to be VP, it's you think WILL be VP.
IMO there's not a chance that Tulsi would be selected - she would bring no significant voting block, has little experience & not much public visibility & has not endeared herself to the Democratic establishment.

I nominate three additional women to the list:

Susan Rice
Victoria Nuland
Samantha Power

You think? There are any number of accomplished women out there, but who is, realistically, a prospective candidate? Could you pick one?

I listed them in what I expect is the preferred order of these three by the Democratic establishment, so Rice.

It's funny to me you say that after adding Abrams... I had never heard of her till she ran for Governor here in GA, which she lost...

Tulsi deserves to be on the list, but I think it's high unlikely she would be picked. There has been a lot of discussion about Stacey Abrams. My own choices are much more "mainstream". I think it's important to bear in mind that whoever becomes VP (assuming of course Biden wins the nomination & the election, which is far from certain), might not necessarily become the Presidential candidate in 2024.

Stacey would be useful if Biden expected to do poorly with southern black voters...but he crushes it with southern black voters. His deficit is with liberals - but they will more than likely (begrudgingly) vote for him anyways, and perhaps midwestern voters. I think he needs to shore up the suburban and midwest vote. That's why I feel Gretchen is a strong choice. Same could be true of Amy & Kirsten. Tammy Baldwin isn't really on my radar.

There is also a very real chance that the VP will become President before 2024, given Biden's age and (mental) health.

This might end up being HRC's backdoor way into the Presidency.

Or any woman.

It's the same as becoming rich and successful by marrying someone who is.

Hopefully it's not too late for Andrea Yang.
An Asian trans-woman, my god that would be a powerful ticket. How could one not vote for that???

Honestly, I think it would send the right message to the world if the first woman to be POTUS was a trans-woman.

I remember when people said that about Trump/Pence...

I think his top choices are Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris. Both are highly intelligent, very competent people. I'm thinking Warren might be his choice. Biden is very popular with black voters already, so he doesn't necessarily need a black VP to carry that vote. Yesterday Barack Obama tweeted about how Warren "provides a cogent summary of how federal policymakers should be thinking about the pandemic in the coming months." Note that Biden also has a plan, but Obama singled out Warren. This might be Obama providing Biden the cover he needs to pick a white running mate.

It would possibly even be worth seeing Trump win again just to see people turn out to vote against Hilary because Biden was dumb enough to put her on the ticket.

No. No it would not.

Would probably have more to do with the fact that people are questioning if he's even fit for the job, or the fact that he's a creep with kids.

Recent update from CNN ranking VP candidates:

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/09/politics/joe-biden-vp-vice-president-pick/index.html

Kamala Harris jumps into 1st place. Warren slips back. Some 9 months ago I suggested Biden/Harris as a strong ticket. I didn't know that much about her then. I'm a bit dubious about it now. With the endorsement of Obama, it's hard to see how Biden needs much help to secure a strong African American vote. A mid-westerner like Klobuchar or Witmer would seem to make more sense as securing Michigan & Wisconsin (as well as Pennsylvania) would be the essential starting point for a Democrat electoral victory.

The election of Democrat All Karofsky for the Wisconsin supreme court may be an indication of the state turning away from Trump:
