JP players really are the masters at drifting.

I can't help myself, i stop bother you if you stop with those ego tripping comments. Deal? Lol

Says the person looking for attention by posting real life pictures of herself -.-

I know it is. I didn't mean to derail the thread like this. Just wanted to prove the point that Japanese people can be really good, however it's not only them that are good, and can drift (for example), an 86 decently.

What was the topic again? :dunce:

Japanese drifters, and their mastery of the game/skill.

I know it wasn't your intention, but unless I missed something nobody was saying Japanese drivers are the only good drifters in the world đź‘Ť

People have amazing skills from all around the world, the Japanese drivers I come across are just as good as people from any other country, it seems more like equivalent exchange of time investment to ability.

Due to the car culture it's more likely for a Japanese person to get real life drift practice which is more advanced than in a video game, but there's the added bonus of no fear where they can try insane stunts like the instance Lock2Lock described.

So yeah, it comes down to both culture and just the groups of people in particular. Hence why not every Japanese person is a world class drifter  that would just be ridiculous.

You missed something ;) I actually even quoted this post in my comment, didnt I?

Thanks yumi :)

Also, you're getting a free AE86 Levin from me. I can't drift mine and I'm embarrassed to drive it. Barely does 50 MPH around turns. Maybe I have to be Japanese to be good at drifting it. Back to the BTR I guess.........

That's really true. In the case of drifting, the saying: Practice makes perfect, could come true. (If it wasn't for the fact that perfection isn't possible.)

Well, They're not the only people with an insane car culture. The Finnish people for example ;)

Definitely True.

I don't see anything in that post about saying only Japanese people are good at drifting, just that he can't personally manage to drift the Levin. The "Maybe I need to be Japanese" Is a joke about his difficulties with the car, at least that's how I read it

Practice makes pretty darn good đź‘Ť

Naturally, but I was more referencing the cost of cars. In New Zealand for example we put a lot of care and love into our cars, we're scared to damage them because it costs a lot of money.

Conversely, the Japanese people I know and know of are far less worried about damaging their cars because of how the car auctions work there and how the cars are seen more as appliances

I also have my feedback to share. Ill try to be brief:

- I do have 4 accounts: BR, US, UK and JP. Even using my BR account for GT5, i could be confused with any of these based on my flag´s account. Fortunaly the OP pointed wisely some caracteristics that makes no mistakes to point if they are trully japanese or not (including writing).

- I know that we could live in a with only black and white, but we dont. We have nuances, we have in general good japanese drifters, but also i had a displeasure of drop into japanese rooms running Tsukuba with open choice of tires and bunch of noobs too. By the way, they was speaking in japanese.

- In general they plays in high level. When JP guys comes to mixed lobies, their amount of talk are the oposite of their amount of skills. Plus, i really enjoy the taste in car choices of them: If they are playing realistic, their JDM style are pretty cool, and if they will go goofy, they can make the most weirdo cars drift really well.

- I with i could understand better their interactions between them. Their own championships, their crews, and so on.

- For last, their GT5 drift videos normaly are the best ones.

One night I decided to mess around random lobbies to test some of my cars. At that moment there weren't much US servers so I look for other ones. I decided to join a Japanese drift lobby to pit myself and my cars against "the best in the business" :D there were 3 JP players inside when I joined, all 3 of them chatting in Japanese of course. I decided to roll out and wait for one of them to also come out and do some tandems. No questions asked, my tandem partner there was amazing chasing me around Autumn Ring. After a few laps around, I fumbled a bit for I misjudged my 90-degree entry into the track's loop corner. Both my rear tires went off to the grass, but I didn't spin out yet; my car was still sideways and the front tires were still on the pavement. So I tried my best to not make the car spin out and get the rear tires back on track while keeping the car drifting around the loop. I did manage so; I made it out of the loop corner still drifting and all 4 tires in the pavement, and I kept drifting with my JP tandem partner for a few more laps. But that moment, after I cleared that loop, the other 2 JP players said in the chat box "good job!" and "cool". I was really surprised to see those two commenting about me recovering from my mistake. They've been chatting in the room using Japanese characters, but when I saw those English words, I knew they were pointing out at me.

That just goes to show you one fact: Japanese players are the ones who really understand and appreciate the nature, the essence of drifting. It's not about throwing your car sideways as fast as you can around a corner or track. It's not about speed, or line, or angle. It's not about hitting all the clipping points and making your car sideways from corner entry to corner exit. Drifting, in its purest essence, in its simplest form, is all about car control. It's about keeping your car in check when it seems that it's about to let go, but it wouldn't, because you know you can still keep it going sideways.

I agree with u bro, I've had a similar experience to urs as well and i'm even friends with my tandem partner. We used cars from initial D and i had a lot of fun; both in grip and drift.

Miharuhi mentioned, i said something, apparently he did not understood very well what i said, i explained. Now, the defense gang can get relaxed.

Edit: I am not even going to reply what you said Yumi.

Miharu is a She. But why the drama? Relax. Didn't think things would be blown out of proportion.

Hahahaha don't worry dark is banned anyway. So no more drama on this subject anyway. It ended with that. :)

Wow quick response but good to hear. That guy was just impossible.. Sadly The Forums isn't the only place that has such.. Even worse in game. But Anyway back on topic. I agree with most of you of skill levels just depending on person. Most Japan Drifters just go with officials. Which kind of brings me to another thought. I know that the old days of Drift they stuck to Mountain roads, Lots, or whatever they can find to drift. Using only the cars own power no ebrake etc. But it's like now days anything goes? Just as long as your sliding. But honestly this whole Car hacking "modding" sensation going on now is starting to ruin the fair play.. Not only that but people get really aggressive and carefree. Randomly deciding they are going to pull a suprise Brake locking and 180 infront of someone. I don't like having to lock my wheels up every lap to dodge people.. this mostly happens on American servers. I had one guy get mad and using language I'm not familiar with because of an accident he caused. "It's just a game." Sure but it gets old when people can't use such a little needed commonsense.

Hahahaha i had just loaded up the app. But Yep i agree. I honestly don't care about the moded/hacked/or even a normal car. Some people can control them. But you do see some that come into a room with one and completely run your off of the road (for whatever excuse they say).

I am pretty lenient when it comes to people ramming me. Once or twice ok but after it happens on a consistent basis like my friend Gonales says "please don't tandem with me if you can't follow me". Some people take it the wrong way but that is their fault of your catch my drift. Some say sorry when they hit buy like i said before when it happens consistently it does get old fast.

But anyway yeah i agree with you

CallmeDan
This.

Also, when did DAZR1 get banned?

Been a few weeks to a month ago I think.

It is in the "banned user log" thread.

Yeah true. Saddest part is it happens way too often to me. But if someone else is being harassed by someone purposely ramming Usually I get a car with gripped tires like a 4wd and just block the rammers. Most of them can't predict where their target is going to be before or after someone is defending that target. Or I just have them turn attention on me. I don't a bad word vocabulary list so I don't go off on people. Just more like self conscious pokes.

Modding a car doesn't make up for a lack of skill.

Bumping is terrible, but I still subscribe to the belief that if they hit you hard enough that you can't hold it, but they're still on the road, you did something wrong. Except in cases of extreme weight differences, its usually easy to predict, avoid, or respond to accidental ramming without crashing completely.

At the same time, if you are going to ram, it takes equal still to either avoid it or overtake. I see nothing wrong in a skillful overtake where neither cars go off-track or hit eachother.

Or if you're in an AE86 that's doing barely 50 MPH around a corner where everyone else is doing 70+ in their Supras and RX-7s :grumpy: :banghead:

JPN players... Some are beasts and really nice, some are extremely racist and not even that good. My experiences with them are mixed. Just like any other people.

A bit off topic. Avenger got banned? http://[domain blocked due to malware]/instances/400x/36224327.jpg

Yes. But not to be a huge a-hole, it was time. A lot of arguments were sparked by her.

DarkAvenger was a she? Didn't think they would act that bad. I saw a few negative comments but didn't think they were such a problem.

Yeah I agree with you, But some can manage to slam into you on purpose and keep on going. Such as those who know their connection is laggy. Or they hack there car to add weight. I really don't mind someone who hits me a tiny bit. Thats just natural racing it can happen. Lately since I've been mostly watching others drive. Most times I can see where a person is about to spin or understeer. So sometimes I'd bump (Not ram) them back into place or an extra bit to keep the corner going. I wish I could record some of them lol. I'm not really a twin drifter much but when saving others I can just keep with them around the next few corners lol. I don't know why that is.

Okay, she may be banned but that's really no reason to go on and on about it. If you're happy she's gone then that's fine, but let's keep the discussion here on-topic.

Take it to private messages if it's something some of you must discuss.

Sorry n.n

Yeah, the Japanese are really awesome on GT5. The racing etiquette is existent within the rooms. If someone goes off the track, they will go when the road clear. If your waiting for 'Group' you coast it slowly on the grass. It's truly amazing, this is probably why they have 11+ Drift trains which are successful.

Im always in japanese rooms as is bovr... Often drift with rev limits or silharri!! When ever I join their rooms everything is on point no drama and im often amazed at what an how their drifting.

I love japanese drifting rooms. People there are so polite, when you go to a US drifting rooms you just see X1 ramming every body.

Which is when the host doesn't impose any limits. As soon as I see a Red Bull pass me in my lobbies, I immediately kick them. The car can not drift... at all. The idiots that drive them only try to set the best lap time (why?) or just ram people like you said.
