You guys clearly feel as though I've got no idea what I'm doing. If you think the regs are so badly broken then instead of criticising suggestions go fix them yourself.

I'm only saying that we shouldn't be using the stand-out car in the field as our yardstick, but instead use the cars that have the most in a certain pace range as our comparison pace.

This would be like performing an experiment and getting a statistical anomaly and trying to work all the other data that is much closer to the mean to coincide with our extremity. Instead of moving the mean to the limit, lets bring the superior limit down to the mode and the inferior limit(s) up to the mode as well. Then the std. dev between the cars will be much lower and the mean will much closer coincide with the mode.

Make more sense now? At this point the heirarchy seems to be

Move the Lexus down to 7 notches, the Garaiya down 2, and the MR-S and Celi up one, and we have a much closer field. The Subaru Prm is kinda SOL unless we slow all the cars down, but then we risk getting out of the JGTC400 range and more toward a slightly sped up GT300. Idk, but as it stands, the cars aren't even; That's a given.

I don't think the problem is the lexus hp, its just the MR-S is to slow. Lexus to me seems even with a few on this track. If you start to nerf the lexus the rx-7 and Garaiya will hammer it.

Edit - The only reason I'm even testing other cars is because to many Lexus' line up on race day and i want to throw a different car in the mix.

I agree, I dragged raced an RX7 Down Fujis straight and even with a faster corner exit And abit of draft I could barely get alongside. Consider that I'm also running stock rear downforce.

Nonsense. The MR-S is a great car, even at these high-asking specs. Give the Silvia a boost, I like it, too, but, the motor sucks. Maybe give me like 3 horsepower... Or, just let me try again with less downforce. Seriously, I just battled with the Lexus for an entire race.

Honestly, then, I can say that the MR-S, asides from straightline speed, is on par. It handles great. It handles much better than the Lexus, so horsepower's the only concern. But, instead, focus on the Silvia. I'm not here to win races, I'm here to have good, clean, close racing. Last race was good, but the MR-S had too much downforce, and not enough power.

The Silvia, though, always stuck out, to me, as the sort of Heikki Kovalainen car; the nice-looking, good sportsman car, that always seems to be in last. Stupid Caterham. The MR-S is more like the Kamui Kobayashi car; punching above its weight, and not failing, but not winning.

The Silvia is maxxed out and is still way too slow for the field. It's basically removed from the list unofficially.

Unfortunately. I'd love to have a series based around the Silvia lol, but we're stuck with our 400 premise for now

The Lexus you battled with had a fastest lap more than 2 seconds of the pace. That's not a great comparison for the car speeds.

Yes, but, that's only considering one lap, on which he followed me, drafted, had a light fuel load, and had brand new tires. Once the tires wore down, the MR-S was faster.

No that was his fastest lap in the whole race, 31 laps.

I feel like you sneaked in a statistic lesson in here

Exactly. This is actually what I meant. It was a "perfect" lap. Low fuel load, draft, new tires... It's not an average lap. The average lap time after 31 laps is generally much better, as a diagnostic on the pace of a car.

In iRacing, the MX-5 is barely slower than the Jetta in qualifying, yet, in the race, the Jetta's horsepower and cold-tire understeer makes the MX-5s lose momentum. MX-5s need momentum. So, the qualifying laps are WAY faster, in the MX-5s, than the race pace.

In GT5, the difference is the fuel load, and tire wear. We start on a full fuel load, and our laps slowly speed up. The fastest laps are usually just after pitting for tires, but not fuel.

Average laps are much more accurate. However, yes, two seconds is a drastic difference. The MR-S isn't great. It's fun, and it looks nice. It has a very easy-going "personality."

Looks like the Lexus needs weight and maybe less power too.

Dude said almost everyone had a Lexus in the last grid. May I say, it is not because it looks good and has bright colors, I mean I don't think there's that much 12 year olds here, right?

That's the only reason I raced with the Lexus in the first place. I like the bright blue colors. Second best bet is the Celica, which I'm in now lol

Also won't deny I have a thing for Toyota/Lexus

I would love to join this series.
GTPlanet Username: Racefan88
PSN: Racefan8850
Car: Lexus IS350

Since me Zach and Cam chose the Lex it seems everyone has followed suit. :P

Welcome to the league, Alefin and Joe should have you signed up soon, meanwhile do read through the starting/qualifying procedure of you haven't.

Thanks for the interest and see you on track soon.

How do you work that one out? Considering it's not the fastest in a straight line, nor fastest round the bends?

I don't know. I thought people were complaining that it was fastest

if we have to make a final choice for which car we will be using this weekend, will the specs be announced as final in the next day or two, to allow for us to test with them before making our final selection?

Yeah, if we make any changes it will be posted soon.

I'm just using the Lexus because I saw a feature on it @ Speedhunters prior to this series.

When my teammate Zach said he'd be grabbing one that just sealed the deal.

Well I'm probably sticking with the Garaiya and I hope you guys pay serious attention to the Lexus and its outclassing the rest of the field. Makes no sense that this should even be a problem so far into the series unless this maiden season really just is experimental.

Yeh if this entire season is about testing then i have no problem .

The Lexus is 40 more hp than the Celica and also weighs 20 kg less than the Celica .

The Celica is the only car ive put a lot of time in ( Silvia too but it doesnt count ) so i can only comment on it . I will be extremely fair with my recommendations for the specs .

If the lexus is to be left as is , i would say raise the celica hp by 10 and remove 10 kg of weight

Then we see how it goes from there

Changed the disconnect policy. Please let me know if you have any questions.

There will be no race restarts for people that disconnect past 6 laps into a race, and before any racing even begins, no host should wait longer than 15 minutes for someone to stabilize. In other words, 15 minutes past the hour is the latest that a race must start. Once the race starts, everyone has a 6 lap grace period.

The 15 minutes is part of car checks, but people need to get car checks done quickly too. If you're worried about connection issues, please get into the room early to make sure you can see everyone. They rooms are usually up early.

Lexus specs are being discussed, so will be soon when everything should be finalized.

I'll ask you the same question a, spaz. The Lexus isn't fastest on the straight's or round the bends.

So what do you suggest?

Giving less hp will see the arta and rx7 dominate it, it would probably get hammered az the celica and subaru also.

Adding more weight will slow it down even more on the bends and push it further away from other cars.

The problem isn't the Lexus, it's a couple of other cars that need a power boost to even them up with the rest of the field.
